That's a pity. I used to eat there at least once a week in the mid/late 90s. The food was great and was superb value for money. It was a good bar too.

Down in what was sunny Morecambe for the Easter Weekend but sunny everywhere according to the reports. Missed the game against Celtic but had a ball down in a packed out seaside town with scooters and bikers galore but no fighting on the beaches. My other half dragged me along to see Cannon and Ball on the Friday night at the Railway Station that's now a hub for comedians (loosely said) and other such acts but I did actually enjoy watching the retro pair in action.
Anyhow we ended up there again on the Saturday for a meal as it also doubles up as a bar and restaurant albeit in a separate area and the meal for me was not up to scratch. The chicken was scorched to what looked like black dog excrement bits and other assorted chicken wings were brick hard as if they had been cooked over and over again.
But the pints of real ale were good however I would advise against going there for food.
Morecambe was packed out all weekend and I can only assume every other seaside town was the same and it was a blast.
Delighted to learn we had maintained our unbeaten run when asking in the bookies (don't tell the other half) what the score was.
Mon the Cabbage!!!
:flag:
I rarely use them but I keep hearing how poor Wetherspoons have become.
Nando’s - while not necessarily being minging it’s ridiculously over priced for what is essentially a wrap from a supermarket meal deal that’s been warmed up.
F&B id definitely agree with.
Braw Burger on Broughton Road. Quite simply the worst burger I’ve ever had.
Now I love a big portion (even since losing loads of weight) but 5 guys is ridiculous. The first time I went was when I was in London on business. Got the bigger portion and was full with just the chips.
Second time I went I got the small chips and it was still too much!
I remember Frankie and Bennies and Chiquita were either side of the UCI at kinnaird back in the day, OK I was young but I remember them being great. Not set foot in either branch for at least 10 years for the reasons others have stated.
Used to like a Toni Macaroni, but that again has went way downhill and not enjoyed one for a while (the mrs loves the cabonarra I get forced to go now and then)
Vittorias on the walk - controversial I know, but the last 5 or 6 times I have been I have left pretty disappointed in comparison to a few years back. I wouldnt say it was terrible, but its just been 'OK' in the last 18 month to 2 years.
I love a good ol fashioned roast, and carvery when you find one can be great (Don't know the name, but my mum lives in York and has a cracking carvery locally) ive tried Toby and both the Elginhaugh farm and whatever the one is called at the Gyle and all were pretty crap. Ive tried different things on the menu there as well and been crap. Although I think there was a mexican chicken burger that was pretty decent once, must of got lucky that one day.
Down the hatch in south queensferry is pretty garbage
Wetherspoons in Musselburgh, was in there yesterday, my mate had a burger, I didn't eat at all, his food arrived, the burger had been microwaved, even the lettuce had been nuked, he said it was horrendous.
I should note I also love Hard Rock, but that Edinburgh one was awful when I went. Got the fajitas and they somehow tasted like an ashtray had been emptied into them. Rancid.
Had pretty good meals at other ones around the world though and always seek them out, even though it annoys my wife big time - "they're all the same!"...:greengrin
