The joys of a zoom lens.
What and where is the chimney like structure at approx one o'clock ? On top of the Pentlands ?
That’sa great photo. You get smashing views across to Edinburgh from the Fife coast. Even from where i am in Dunfermline, a short walk takes me to a spot where i can look across to Easter Road.
My grandparents had a caravan at Pettycur Bay when I was wee and I used to love the view over to Edinburgh. They had binoculars and I spent ages looking over.
Funny that I should now live where I do, and I love how easy it is to make Pettycur out from this side of the water.
The more I look at this photo the more I think it is a mock up. The chimney I mentioned is directly above the T wood plantation on the Pentlands.
I still like the photo even if it is a compendium. It reminds me of a photo in The Scotman that should an RAF fighter over Edinburgh Airport that could only have been
taken from another fighter along side it. The newspaper admitted they had been had.
If you go to Pettycur Bay on Google streetview and look across, the angles & proportions seem right for the stadium & Arthur's seat. I don't know about the pentlands, but it's definitely doable with the right weather, lens & exposure.
The chimney/mast thing is a puzzle, but if it was a montage the person that did it is too good to make that mistake IMO.
