I have a bad feeling about this.
Bookies have Kyrgios as strong favourite.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he pulls out at the last minute.
So he should be.
For Murray just being back out on the court again will be a victory in itself. Anything else will be a bonus for him at this stage in his recovery.
It will be good to have him back although I hope the media is realistic in their expectations ahead of Wimbledon.
Norrie was talking quite positively about Murray's hitting and his movement during their practice sets.
There is obviously a big difference between hitting with Norrie and being in a match with Kyrgios but at least there was some positivity.
I don't feel that Murray has rushed his recovery though so hopefully he gets through this test - win or lose - in good shape.
I suppose he has to come back some time and grass is his surface.
But I'm very protective of the guy.
As if he needs it!
Yep.. can't see anything but a Kyrgios win but Murray might at least get an idea of where he is, particularly in terms of fitness, and his chances of getting back proper this season.
Interesting to see how it goes. I think if he can compete and complete the match, he's probably in a relatively decent place.. even if that means a defeat.
Kyrgios just comes across as a total bellend.
Murray loses in 3 sets.
Disappointing to lose from a set up but the main thing is that he appears to have come through the match unscathed.
Quite a long match too which will do him no harm at all.
I see Murray has accepted a wildcard for Eastbourne. Must be feeling okay after his exertions.
Djokovic's odds for Wimbledon must have shortened considerably after today's performance.
Andy wins!
When's Andy on?
He'll need a major change in attitude if he's going to win a major.
He has a talent but I don't get the impression that he works anywhere near enough in training or in his preparation to allow him to compete at the very top of the game. He doesn't have the dedication that's required and he's pretty much admitted that in various interviews in the past.
He hasn't been past the 4th round at a major for over 3 years now. I've seen nothing to suggest that will be changing any time soon.
Agree with most of that. He still has time on his side though, if he 'gets his head right'. When the current dominating generation begin to fade from the game.. there will be top spot places up for grabs. Thiem and Zverev seem the two obvious contenders to me... Krygios' talent gives him a claim as well.
Andy should play Wimbledon, I reckon. Even if he loses to some qualifier from Uzbekistan at least he's shown he's up for it.
It's not good when top players pick and choose. It denigrates the tournament.
Murray withdraws from Wimbledon.
I'm disappointed Andy is out.
I now switch my allegiance to Kyrgios.
Always a few fireworks when he's about.
Andy's going to commentate for the rest of the week. Not sure this is a good idea. Not yet anyway.
Murray wins on his hard court comeback in Washington against American Mckenzie MacDonald (what a name :greengrin) . He has Kyle Edmund next round . The real British number 1 should win if he's fit enough
