Looking through old family photos and there is one from 60/70's in the Buchanan Hotel. Anyone shed any light on where this was? Think it was in Leith somewhere Cheers

If it's the Ken Buchanan it was ferry road opposite ainslie park. Went to a few parties there back in the day.

Drove past it when we were up in February and had forgotten it's latest name!
Just talking about the place, the wife's 21st birthday party was held there, to name but one event. We couldn't recall when Ken Buchanan gave it up but thought mid eighties?
Guess the 60s/70's probably rules out the Ken Buchanan?

Cheers guys.
I took a guess with the 60/70's thing. Just looked old🤣
It was an old red flurescent light in the window.
Opposite the Ferry road entrance to Victoria park. Uses to drink there on a Sunday. Went there for a wake in the 90's and it seemed a shadow of its former self. Dont know what its like now.
Talking of Ken Buchanan I heard recently that he isn't doing too well. He was in hospital at that time and I believe there was talk of him perhaps needing ongoing care.
Hopefully he is on the mend now. One of our greatest ever sportsmen.
ken is now in a leith nursing home, can't do a link but it's on a site called boxingnewsonline.net or the I LOVE LEITH fb page
Shortly before lockdown I passed him near the foot of Leith Walk. He shambled past me and didn’t seem to be “with it”. The person I was with did not know who he was and was surprised when I said he was one of the greatest Scottish sportsmen ever. So sad
Sad to read this. I didn't know anything about him until recently if I'm honest but having read a few articles now it's such a shame a great sportsmen like him is going through this.
His book is a great read. The Tartan Legend.
I’m not sure it’s a nursing home, unless he’s moved again. I thought it was more a sheltered housing type of thing. He’d definitely gone downhill I spoke to him a few times during lockdown and he was pretty confused, he was always asking for directions to wear he was staying. I was actually up at the hospital and he was being taken in after going missing for a while, his son(I think) was saying his mind was still there, but he was getting a bit confused at times. Hopefully he’s doing ok.
Drove past the hotel earlier and it looks like it's closed down. Was it actually called the Buchanan Hotel back then? I seem to remember it as the Gosford but I imagine it's had plenty of names.
I guess, like many retired sportsmen before him, running a bar wasn't a wise move for Buchanan. I watched a documentary about him fairly recently. He was a smart bloke and clearly a phenomenal sportsman. Very sad what happened to him.
