I'd place skirting board first, tile to the skirting but use spacers, then use flexible adhesive/grout to the wall or silicone.
I'm not a tiler by trade but enjoy a little DIY,,,,
Tiled my bathroom floor, ripped the skirtings off first, tiled to the wall then put skirtings back on top of tiles, looks superb. Just like when laying a wooden floor, hate the beading do have always removed skirtings first.
Edit: just realised you are tiling a wall not a floor, yes skirting first then tile to it.
Cheers guys.
Tiling the whole bathroom . Walls and floor.
I've had my bathroom done, no skirting boards. Walls tiled right down to the floor. Looks brilliant.
There's also the option of replacing the skirting with plinth tiles, ie. the same as your floor tiles but about 4" high. You can then take the wall tiles down to these.
