Only green and white colours (with a bit if mauve) in the Melbourne Cup

We have a public holiday here for the Melbourne Cup today. It's about the only time I bet on the nags. Picked my horses - as did the wife and kids - and put $1 each way on each horse.
Whilst at the betting agency I see Prince of Penzance was in the green and white (and mauve) and thought maybe $10 each way. Then saw it was 101/1 and didn't bet.
The bugger came first paying about $70

I guess I should always bet the green and white😩
