Spectre was on tv last night. Quite enjoyed it given I’ve not expressed much love for ‘new bonds’ and Daniel Craig as the main man (it might be almost entirely quantum of solace to blame for that!).
Still.. give me Roger Moore running about Thailand any day before this modern carry on.
Watched Vanilla Sky last night and thought it was brilliant right up until the end, left me a little disappointed. Tom Cruise is excellent in it.
Watching World War Z on film4 great film one of the best zombie films.
Get Carter
Watched this again last night such a grim but superb movie not your usual glamorous gangster movie.
The Gentleman.
Matthew McConaughey is excellent. Hugh Grant in a very different role. Watched it tonight. Liked a lot. :aok:
Seen a trailer at the cinema for another Guy Ritchie movie, "Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre", and Hugh Grant is in it also and from the trailer I thought he was playing the exact same character (Fletcher), turns out it's not, completely different part so either Grant has became one dimensional in his character portrayal or Ritchie has got lazy with his casting.
Don’t Look Up.
Very important satire.
Only The Animals.
Quirky French whodunnit on Netflix.
Went to see Uncharted. I’m a big fan of the games and was sceptical going in based on most computer game adaptations. Thought it was really good though and well done. Works as a film in its own right and also enough nods to the game for the fans. Tom Holland & Mark Wallberg were good together.
Suspicion (1941)
Watched it for, I think, the first time recently (always a chance I'd seen it before on a wet afternoon when I was taking a sickie from school back in the day). Classic Hitchcock psychological meddlings, great performances from an unlikable Cary Grant and a wonderful Joan Fontaine, with a touch of humour from Nigel Bruce (Watson to Basil Rathbone's Holmes), steadily increasing tension and paranoia until a cop-out ending. Brilliant, until the last 5 minutes.
Jackass Forever.
Great nostalgic fun took me back to my 20s don’t know how they can take the pain at their age!
Whoops Apocalypse. Topical.
I found ‘Uncut gems’ featuring Adam sandier a really good watch having heard pretty much unanimous positive reviews.
Very different to happy Gilmore and Billy Maddison 😁
Cyrano. Was dragged along by my partner and ten minutes in I expected to hate it but really enjoyed it.
The Batman - very long , very dark ,very voice-overy. Reminded me of the Crow more than Nolan's Dark Knight films.
Felt a bit repetitive and a bit too much style over substance. Imagine comic book fans would love it more than your typical movie goer.
Watched the M Night Shyamalan film “Old” a couple of days ago. A truly terrible film.
Watched “The Lucky Ones” on Prime last night, story of 3 US soldiers trying to get home on leave from Afghanistan. Doesn’t get the best of reviews but I found it a good watch and funny at times.
Shades of Trains, Planes and Automobiles, has Tim Robbins in it, never realised what a big dude he is, the guy looks like a giant in this film.
