Watched the first 5 minutes, and to be honest i dont know anything really about either team, but Japan so far look much the better side.
I think neither team really need a result so bit tough to predict. Japan have virtually a reserve team out so maybe the guys coming in will want to impress.
Even if they lose Australia just need to win their next game. And if they lose that, they'll still have more chances to quality I think.
Australia quite a poor side but in transition with this new coach so time will tell.
Australia are relentlessly awful to watch.
Oz midfield non existent.
Too many players who have had little game time recently.
Oz need to win to qualify but need a point at least
Japan simply controlling the possession and Oz having difficulty getting out their own half.
How are these guys supposed to get a proper off season if they're having to play these matches at this time of the year?
Too short an amount of time for a full re-set, back to pre season in, what a fortnight? Can't be good for these lads.
I was missing football and thought this might give me my fix for the day, christ i'd rather get a season ticket at tynecastle that watch this pish anymore.
Miller and Boyle hooked still 0-0 74 mins
nicely taken
but daylight robbery
Outplayed and chasing shadows for 90 minutes.
And somehow won.
I don’t think anyone could say the better team won.
Doesn’t matter to Japan, they already qualified.
Boyler subbed at half time but he never saw the ball….the possession was 70-30 in Japan’s favour in the first half.
Dick Turpin seen riding away from Perth Oval at full time.
That’s Australia basically qualified.
Saudi Arabia would have to win both their last games by a few goals to qualify , including their home match with Australia
Turned over after an hour, hadnt even realised Boyle was subbed at H/T. :faf:
An hour i will never get back, cant believe the aussies won, they looked a very poor side from what i watched.
Obviously happy to see Australia qualify for the World Cup for our players, but it’s also good for the Club.
I believe the payment to the club per player is substantial.
At the last World Cup it was £8,429 given per player, per day, starting from the day they were released for international duty and ending after their final match at the tournament. With inflation, that would presumably be closer to £10,000 four years on.
If we could have Iredale, Boyle and Miller in the squad (and obviously still hoping for Triantis but I’ll not count him), that’s £30k a day for around 20 days. Not a small amount of money that probably covers a large chunk of Boyle’s and Miller’s one year extensions.
