I’ve planned to visit my 85 yr old mum pending a negative test this weekend. If the rules change, that’s going to be really tough decision to make, and hugely unfair as expectations will have been raised. Better not have announced this in the first place. I suspect the genie is out of the bottle though and the government now can only emphasise trying to keep it as safe as possible.
I don't understand the logic here. Millions might well be doing what they want but millions more will be sticking to guidelines. How is this reasonable, to abandon a strategy just because some people won't respect it? If a rule cuts deaths by only 50%, say, it's a waste of time? :confused:Quote:

I had an email from the school connected to my daughters nursery yesterday to say they had a reported case and contacts had been traced. 3rd time since the start of November. Then this morning I had an email from the gym informing me there had been a 'number of cases' linked to there. Is it just me that finds the timing of this new strain of the virus and the likelihood of the change to Xmas rules convenient to Government?
I don't doubt that there is a new strain but my understanding is that there have been 25 new strains identified since February. I've never seen such publicity about a new strain previously.
