Yes because that’s the only way to do it right enough 🙄

If they are so effective, and they are so important in stopping spread of infection, why have they not been used before?
You'd expect every staff member in a hospital to have one.
However, if you have some evidence that they are so effective, please share. Up until now your only argument has been to rubbish the sources, and throw in some sarcasm, like your comment about changing taps.
I'm arguing they can have some effect. Others have argued they "do nothing".
I have asked you why you posted that sometimes masks are worn in hospitals, if they have no effect. You have not answered.
Here is a picture of some people wearing masks in a hospital. Again, why are they doing this if they have no effect? Again, is it purely for cosmetic reasons?
"state of the art infection control"
If I am sitting on a bus and the person directly behind me sneezes, I believe that I will be better protected from that sneeze if he is wearing a mask than if he has just washed his hands. Even if Boris Johnson and his lackeys suggest otherwise.
Boots and Superdrug appear to completely run out of hand sanitiser but Amazon have some on offer for EIGHT TIMES the RRP!!!
Face masks with a similar mark up!!
In parts of Thailand masks have completely sold out. My wife told me this morning our local pharmacy has upped the price of a box of paper masks to 750baht. To put that in perspective it's 2 and a half days wages for those on minimum wage.
Utterly scandalous!

Can’t accuse them of not taking it seriously I suppose.

No one has said the masks don't protect against diseases, they do. They stop loads from spreading and no doubt save lives. Doctors and nurses wear them for these reasons. It's when it comes to Coronavirus that its a problem as they dont do squat against it.
I see that Serie A have postponed all league games this weekend because of it.
Coronavirus is not the flu. In short, surgical masks help prevent flu spreading. They don't prevent coronavirus spreading.
Ok.
If you have a good quality mask, wear it securely, follow proper guidelines whilst wearing it and dispose of it properly what is different from the coronavirus and the influenza viruses which render them useless against the former?

A number of Serie A games been cancelled now
It's bordering on mass hysteria now. It's concerning, it's good people are thinking about basic hygiene practices (which the manky gits should be doing anyway) and I've got no issue if people want to wear masks.
However you are more likely to go out today and catch the cold, flu, scarlet fever, gastroenteritis etc etc etc. You're statistically more likely to be diagnosed with cancer ffs yet I bet folk are still going on sunbeds, puffing away on fags, eating processed meat and downing alcohol.
You simply can't protect yourself from every illness, that's why the average adult gets between 2 and 4 colds a year and children considerably more. At some point you are going to touch your face, eyes, mouth subconsciously whether you like it or not. Panic buying a months worth of food and taping up your windows is a bit of an overreaction.
My friend who is teaching in Tokyo has returned to Ohio USA she was basically told that next week it will be lock down in Japan, it may be nonsense but she felt she had to get home. These are strange days.
She was told Wednesday, anyway she is home now, left her entire flat and packed a suitcase and a letter for her students.
All indoor events with 5k+ people now prohibited in France. I'd imagine that figure will reduce if the number of infections continues to rise.
I was at Mass this morning.
No shaking hands allowed, Communion had to be taken in the hand rather than straight onto the tongue, no shared drinking from the chalice and all Eucharistic ministers had to use alcohol hand gel.
If everyone shows a bit common sense then hopefully the containment works.
I was in the doctors the other day getting inoculations for a trip I have coming up, I asked about masks and he explained that for this particular virus they're next to no good and could indeed make matters worse. The masks are for airborne viruses of which this one isn't. You catch it from larger particles in saliva or when you sneeze so it's transmitted via touch or by someone coughing/sneezing on you and you transferring the particles to your mouth from your hands. He thinks that after time the masks become full of moisture and ineffective and could actually end up a breeding ground for this virus. His advice was hygiene, wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap or antiseptic wipes/liquid.
But these things are less likely to kill me or at least hospitalise me. People with underlying health conditions are more at risk with coronavirus I think. I get that way too many are panicking and doing daft stuff but there is a case for a lot of people to worry. My worry is the opposite of most, im happy with the panickers, its those who dont wash their hands or who have just came back from Italy etc and dont self isolate with symptoms.
