Just reading up on this, sounds just like the European Superleague that everyone was so against in football, but for rugby. Tier 2 nations (except for a token 2) are completely screwed over and won't get a chance to compete in this competition until 2030 at the earliest as there's not going to be promotion or relegation.
I thought world rugby was meant to be growing the game? They already let the Pacific island nations get screwed over by the tier 1 countries cherry picking their players, now they are not going to be allowed to play tier 1 countries in any meaningful games apart from the world cup. How are they meant to improve?
We should be opening up competition, not closing it down.
Rugby Chsmpionship starts today, South Africa v Australia at 16:00 hrs , the Argentina v New Zealand at 20:00 hrs , truncated tournament this year due to the World Cup

i'm exhauseted already
Wallabies score first and last try but very poor to watch in between, not a great start for wee Eddie and not a great watch for the neutral tbf
FT South Africa 43 Australia 12
I don't understand the upset here. It's an operational appointment, the SRU will have a governance framework/strategy for these appointments and Ruth must fit the bill.
Politically, I always thought she came across well and one of the less devisive politicians. I've never voted Tory, although I've voted pretty much everyone else so they're the last ones on my bingo card but she'd maybe have tempted me if I were in her constituency.
Outside of politics I've seen her appear on a couple of TV shows where she comes across well. Lately I've met her a few times and again think she comes across as a really intelligent and genuine person.
Pretty much one way traffic so far from The AB's 0-24 up after 30 minutes
Make that 31-0. All Blacks look pretty decent but the Pumas are way off the pace
not just because i had Argentina at +13, Honest... but they truly are dreadful tonight
Even King Boff has been bang ordinary tonight - All Blacks aren't the same oiled machine they used to be, but are dismantling the Poomahs comfortable.
Still reckon an Ireland, France or even the Boks will give them concern.
Stuart Hogg retires with immediate affect
sorry to see him go, but good on him for making the right choice for himself and his family
Scottish Gas Murrayfield…sounds like a ****ing North Sea platform…
First Tories, now fossil fuel sponsors. SRU failing to read the room spectacularly!
amazing last few minutes in the Australia v Argentina game, Australia looked to have won it with an intercepted try with just minutes remaining but Argentina won it right at the death 34-31
fell asleep at HT in the New Zealand v South Africa game :( with the home side triumphing 35-20
two weeks today it's
Australia v New Zealand
South Africa v Argentina

I'm really looking forward to today's Scotland v Italy pre World Cup warm up fixture at Murrayfield. It's a 3.15 kick off and is being covered by Amazon Prime.
7-31
7-38, match turned into a rout, could get a bit silly in the last 15 minutes.
7-38 ft
15-13 Scotland, 15 minutes left, not much to get excited about apart from Graham.
