In terms of coverage, I like the two guys the BBC have this year. This has to be one of their best years, at least since I moved to the UK.

Half time show has been decent this year.
That was superb....
That was awful.
Carolina shooting themselves in the foot.
Great D by both sides in my opinion.
MISSING: Carolina Panthers
Lewis Hamilton :not worth
5 sacks on Newton
6 point game, could go any way.
Schoolboy errors on the Carolina O line. 5 pre snap pens
A FG should be game over.
Striped from Cam, Denver recover on the 4, 4 left, game over I reckon. Von Miller MVP and Peyton retires.
TD Denver. Game over.
Broncos fully deserved to win that. The defence absolutely annihilated the panthers.
Beast mode is over. Lynch retires.
Been bed-bound with flu all weekend - whilst I managed to see the derby yesterday, I was comatose come 9pm so had to settle for extended highlights this morning.
Well done to Peyton and Denver - he deserves to have at least the same number of rings as Eli, as he's by far the better QB!
Won't be shocked if he retires now.
Best bit of last night was Eli Manning's reaction to the touchdown that all but confirmed a Broncos win.

Thats the face of a man who's bragging rights have been destroyed :faf:
:faf:
I pretty much felt how Eli looks, I'm not a Peyton Manning fan....

Brilliant. Agree 100% with everything. The US sports media can GTF with its Manning fixation. As I've said before he'd struggle to get into a top ten all time QB list. And the hyperbole about the Broncos D? Better than the '85 Bears? Please. It was a mediocre season with not many great individual or team performances and the dullest superbowl in memory. And I'm grumpy because there's no more NFL for 7 months :boo hoo:
So pre cup final beers?
Not going alas.
That's probably a good thing though as I missed the 2007 Cup Final too...
Think the cricket club is a bit out of the way if your not on one of the .net buses.
Shame, you still moving to Glasgow? If so, before or after the final?
Are you guys booked in anywhere or is it just a there and back job?
Booked into a place in Rutherglen?
Bus I'm on is booked in the social club just beside Rutherglen Glencairns park
2 year extension for the GOAT and the Patriots.
Went to look at one just on the outskirts yesterday (Croy, 14 minutes on the train to Queen Street) - was a lovely house and area but it's on the line that's about to be ****ed up with the electrification for 6 months so a 30 minute commute then becomes over an hour commute til the end of August!
Think I'd rather be on the outskirts somewhere and commute in based on what I HAVE managed to look at so far. You don't get comparatively much for your money in the city!
Yeah you definitely get much more for your bucks if you move out from the city. Would need to keep in mind though that your going to have problems with any trains that use the Queen St line so will no doubt effect a lot of the areas your looking. Out of interest, why Croy. Have you got family & friends there?
A few friends have family there and recommended it as a good place to commute into Glasgow - 14 minutes to Queen Street, cheap rail travel and a nice, quiet area with nice houses. Not an area I knew anything about but thought I'd have a look.
Have a viewing at a property today just off Great Western Road so complete contrast!
Probably to nobody's surprise, Peyton has decided to retire.
A superb athlete and ambassador for the sport - it's been a joy to watch him play in this era of the NFL and his stats speak for themselves. Hope he goes on to do something with commentary or analysis as he's always good to listen to talking about the game.
It's the right decision for Ol Peyton. Great player but everything comes to an end.
The Megatron is no more. Retired today.
Well my Giants are clearly going for it, boom or bust time for Jerry Reese. $85mil over 5 years with $52mil guaranteed for Olivier Vernon from Miami!
I'm not a Peyton Manning fan. He's certainly articulate, but I'm not sure I'd say he was a superb athlete (have you seen him try to run? :greengrin), or ambassador for the sport.
He's a regular season stats machine, no doubt, but when the chips were down he failed time and again. His second superbowl was absolutely nothing to do with his performances (he was utterly rubbish all season) and everything to do with the brilliant Denver defence (as well as the Carolina offence being rubbish in the superbowl).
When everything was going perfectly to plan and he had good protection he could throw the ball and rack up the passing yards and touchdowns, but when he came up against properly elite defences who hit him hard and who forced him out of the pocket then he was useless and threw interceptions at crucial times. Of the QB's I've seen since I've been watching there are at least 7 that I would have above Manning, based on who I would rather have in my team when the chips are down at the business end of the season. (Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Favre, Warner, Marino)
He was, by all accounts, a bad loser who refused to give any reps in practice to his back-ups, effectively rendering them useless meaning he was pretty much undropable, even when he was playing rubbishly. This attitude led to the Colts having an utterly abysmal season the year he was injured because their back-up QB's were so terrible.
His treatment of the victim in his sexual harassment scandal while at college could perhaps be excused if he'd grown out of it, but he continued it for years afterwards, slagging her off in his autobiography.
I've not even mentioned the HGH....
Quite happy with the Patriots signings so far.
$2m for Chris Long!
Anyone planning to attend any games this season now that the schedules are out? I'm in Orlando in October so going to take in the Bucs v Falcons game on the Thursday night and potentially the Dolphins v Jets game as well - although that's the day before we fly home and it's a fair drive from Orlando but would be a great game to see. Can't wait to go to and NFL game for the first time.
I'm going to be in Orlando in October, but there's no games on while I'm there and I'm not sure my wife would sanction me going to a game during our family holiday considering she's organised for me to go to Oxford (Mississippi) in November to see the Egg Bowl (Ole Mis vs Mississippi State football game) and have thanksgiving in Memphis.
Just had a look at the fixtures and the Panthers play the Bucs in Tampa while im going to be in Orlando.
Haven't got a hope in hell of convincing the missus or the kids to go though
edit: just realised i got it the wrong way round, the games in Charlotte, not Tampa.....there goes that idea :greengrin
Dallas Cowboys play the Rams first preseason game. We are in the lottery for season tickets. Hoping to boost our chances by going to an All Access dinner on the Coloseum pitch where football activities will be played and players and staff will be there to chat. I must remember not to use the term "throw ball". :greengrin
Just had a look at the schedule - we have a season of two halves! Before our bye-week, on paper, looks like a nice schedule. After our bye-week is grim!
Home to Seattle, away to San Francisco, away to Jets, away to Broncos, away to Dolphins...
Looks like we're going to be without Brady for the first 4 games of this coming season after the US Appeals Court upheld his original ban!
Here we go again!
you mad bro'?:greengrin
in all seriousness, I'm no Brady fan but to find someone guilty on the basis of "More probable than not" just goes against natural justice. My money is on it going all the way to the Supreme Court, as Brady's ego is all about his legacy and how he's regarded in 20 years time. He won't want an asterisk against the 'Greatest Of All Time' headline.
I've decided that seeing as I am going to be in Mississippi anyway, I may as well make the 5 hour drive to Atlanta or New Orleans and watch a Falcons or Saints game as they are at home on the Sunday after the Ole Miss v Mississippi State game.
Which would be better to go and see, Rams v Saints or Cards v Falcons?
I'm tempted to fly up to Philly and watch the Packers v Eagles on Monday night, but the cheapest tickets for that game are $180 compared to $40 for the Falcons and internal flights in the US seem to be really expensive.
So how are we all feeling after last nights draft?
Pretty delighted with the Dolphins pick. We've picked up a guy who could have been a top 5 pick at number 13 because of an old photo posted on Twitter. Position we needed sorted filled with a fine player.
I reckon the Rams vs Saints game will probably be the better of the 2 but that's not based on much!
Internal flights are pretty reasonable actually, though I guess it will depend on route - I flew return from Orlando to Chicago a few years back and it was $120. Flew from Seattle down to San Francisco back in December too for $50.
I haven't heard of our pick before but after reading some articles and comments from fans the reaction initially was WTF? but now that's the dust has settled slightly the opinion is that it looks like a very solid pick.
http://youtu.be/3e2doHAeUxE
The draft headlines are all about the first round big names, our first round pick is a big monster tackle who is an obvious need, but there's every chance he'll be a bust. As usual our superstars will end up being from the lower rounds.
i really want to see where Bama RB Derrick Henry ends up, he's projected to go in round 2. He runs like Beast Mode, I think he'll be a good find for someone.
Only been following the NFL for the 1 season so dont know much about the college level yet but have been reading a lot of the analysis and mock drafts etc in the lead up to get a better idea of who's who and up until the rams & eagles trades to get 1st and 2nd spot Tunsil was considered to be one of the potential number 1 picks of the entire draft so for the Dolphins to get him at 13th seems a cracking deal
I'm utterly puzzled at our QB acquisition - Belichick playing the long, long game is my only guess.
Pleased with our other three acquisitions last night, filling areas we're soft or lacking in.
I'm not convinced that trading up to take an FCS QB with not much experience as a starter was a smart choice for the us. Is he really going to turn out better than an average Sam Bradford? We gave away a lot of picks for Wentz. Underwhelmed....
I wonder what latitude there is for college players to 'hold out' and refuse to play for who drafted them? I remember in the 80s the best college player was Brian Bosworth, massive ego middle linebacker from Oklahoma, he listed six NFL teams that he would consider playing for and said he would refuse to sign for anyone else! In the end they had a 'supplementary draft' lottery specially for him and Seattle won his rights. Despite Seattle not being in his 'list' he signed for Seattle on massive contract, I remember being massively excited, but he was a bit of a letdown and retired after two seasons and started a movie career which didn't last long either.
would that kind of 'holding out' be possible now?
http://nypost.com/2014/04/24/behind-...iants-history/
You're spot on mate. This is quite a good read. So the answer is clearly, yes, a player can still dictate where he goes, the teams will just work out a compensatory trade that suits them both (like Rivers for Manning in this case).
Pig Howard. Possibly my new favourite nfl name
Alright lads, looking forward to getting the offline marathon draft started.
Do any of you guys collect football memorabilia? Recently received my authentic football signed by Celek of the eagles. Also got some signed mini helmets and cards.
How long until our draft gets underway chaps?
Also, I'm worried for this coming season...Leicester win the Premiership, we win the Scottish Cup, the Chicago Cubs are looking white hot just now...could this be the Jets' year? :greengrin
Definitely not the eagles year
Hey guys, I'm dealing with some **** the now, I'll get the fantasy stuff arranged. I'll send Pm's next week.
As long as I get Randy Bullock again I'm not bothered really. Legend.
Are we sticking with NFL.com or are there any other sites in consideration? I ask because NFL Fantasy is blocked at work but ESPN and Yahoo are not for some reason. My own personal preference is ESPN but I will stick with whatever we go with.
All this talk of Tebow. You guys are crazy. Better off with Marshawn Lynch.
