It was a block of flats in Bathgate. To be fair, there was some nice people staying there as well, but most of them moved away over time as well. Some of the zoomers had been moved on or arrested also.

I lived in the Netherlands for 5 years and had constant issues with neighbour noise.

First place was a ground floor flat with F all insulation between the ceiling and the flat above that was occupied by a family with 3 kids, 2nd place was surrounded by DIY Dans who were non stop drilling in the shared walls for 3 years.

As someone that always thinks about neighbours before making any sort of significant noise, sometimes it's not the noise itself that pisses me off, it's the "I'm doing whatever the F I want and F everyone else" mentality of some people that induces the rage.

Didn't realise the full affect it had on my mental health until I moved to a detached house and saw how much calmer and relaxed I was.

I've posted about this before but since Covid restrictions were eased it has become so much worse.

Absolute tramps who think it's OK to destroy the countryside for their own enjoyment. I was walking up Ben Vorlich and Stuc a'Chroin yesterday. Arrived on the south shore of Loch Earn about 6.30 as I wanted to avoid the crowds later in the day. The place was like a bomb had hit it. People camping on the shore with disposable barbecues everywhere, techno music blaring, rubbish floating in the Loch, live trees hacked at for firewood and cars parked in passing places on the single track road. To top it all there was a guy absolutely off his face leaning against a Transit van pissing in the middle of the road. It wasn't as if the perpetrators were exclusively teenagers either. There were families and a group of guys who looked like they were at least in their 40s.

I went my walk and when I got back to the car the tents were gone but the rubbish remained. People really need to be taught the concept of 'leave no trace' and be punished if they don't adhere to it.

I've spent a lot of time out and about during lockdown and we make sure we leave wherever we've been as tidy as possible, there are certainly plenty of absolute rodents going about though. 😤

Jaggy pillows.

I dunno why they exist, a pillow to rest your head on, filled with feathers with pointy ends that dig into your face and head.

Folk using i.e. when it should be e.g. (and vice-versa).

Unnecessary punctuation, eg m.p.h. instead of mph.

When someone in the passenger seat starts rummaging around in their handbag blocking the view in the wing mirror.

Absolutley drives me nuts.

Correct. If I'm pleased/impressed with work that's been done for me I always make a point of telling the person's boss. Internet reviews are really important now as it's the first place that most people look for reviews.

I have a similar moan about bread, we have a cracking knife that I can cut slice after slice perfectly on a nice uncut loaf. Then I go to it after the wife has cut a piece, looks like she used a chainsaw and I end up left with a wedge shaped slice after straightening it up again.

TBF this was an issue with the older metalic tubes but not with the current ones. This from someone who squeezes from the bottom so I gt it.....

Probably been mentioned already but personal hygiene. Was stood in line at the baker this morning and the person in front of me stank like Satan's armpit. I was at least 1.5m away and wearing a mask but their body odour was so strong that I had to hold my breath.

Listening to talk radio a lot at the moment - mostly LBC - and the exam scandal is deservedly top of the bill. However the students that are phoning are speaking like American YouTube stars. Really really annoying.

People who refuse to move an inch in either direction when you are walking in opposite directions on a pavement and about to cross each other.

One person to the left, one to the right, it's not rocket science.

Instead of essentially turning sideways to avoid body contact I now tense up my arm for a nice elbow slam if I sense the prick thinks that the entire pavement is his/hers.

A lot of that butchering stems from government irresponsibility, allowing cheese to be sold by weight. If Trading Standards and that insisted it be sold by dimensions, W x H x D, like fridges, it would quickly eliminate sloppy dividing habits on foodstore shelves and eventually in the home too.

Absolutely this and I'll expand it to people who just don't know how to be pedestrians! Don't suddenly stop in the middle of a busy street to answer your phone. Fill a space only if nobody else is going there first. Walk in a straight bloody line! Don't press the pedestrian crossing button if no traffic is coming, just cross then you won't hold up the traffic. Tourists will always be allowed a little leeway from my inner wrath, but locals? :grr:

Agreed, bar staff seem to have forgotten that the mixer is an accompaniment to the spirit not the other way around. On a similar theme when I have selected a gin and the bar person puts post mix crap tonic into it rather than offering me a bottle. Have refused several gin and tonics because of this.

Restaurants that fire out the food ridiculously quickly.

In a place in Windemere last night where they asked if we wanted a pre dinner drink whilst we decided what we wanted. Our gins came, we ordered the food and wine to have with the food and then the starters came out within 5 minutes. We were still on the gins so we drank them quickly to get onto the wine. Mains followed within 5 minutes of the starters being finished. The meal was over within 35 minutes. The place was quite nice as well.

The same thing happened to us recently in Edinburgh too.

Don't take my word for it but I understand restaurant food is cooked in a sous vide which keeps food in optimum condition so can be served quickly.

Yeah, sous vide is a technique that might work at home depending on the dish but I struggle to see how you do it with a lot of covers in a short window.

For all the people pointing this out, my thoughts came about from a crime novel with a 3 Michelin star restaurant where a sous vide was integral to the murder plot. I guess they are only used when disposal of a body is required. 😁

In all honesty mate, I'm getting a bit fed up with the board in general. I'm not a Pm atm so maybe that would be better but the main board is tragic at times.

It's just smart ***** who never post sniping. Whilst there's loads of excellent posters and posts, talking Hibs with some of those on the main board is just not fun. It's so reactionary. I don't really enjoy reading a lot of the stuff anymore. Maybe it's just me.

Yep, when a couple of posters in particular are engaging in their form of "debate" on a thread then there's no point in trying really. Some folk are just so dogmatic (to put it very kindly). I don't know if it's to make up for their lack of a life outside .net or whether that's their actual character. Does my head in.

Threads during and after Scotland games.

The working from home equivalent of the Full Kit (W)Banker... turns out in full suit, shirt and tie on video calls. There’s one guy who didn’t wear that sort of stuff pre-lockdown but for some reason does now.

On the other end of the scale, those that have gone full on hobo during lockdown. There’s someone very senior who was immaculately turned out previously who now goes on video calls wearing a black hoodie with stains and rips in it.

Scottish people, although I'm sure it occurs elsewhere but doesn't annoy me as much, who mistake typing the way they talk for actual humour. The below from Twitter the other day is a good example:

'Am a pure wind up merchant to ma pals two of them were arguing balls deep in a sesh and a says to peel “ross says he’s been pumping your sister” and he dived up to go for him and a shouted “peel you’ve no even got a sister” and he went aw aye and sat doon😂😂'

804 retweets and over 13000 likes for a story that is about as funny as a dose of crabs.

I hate that, it just makes me think it's pre-prepared and either microwaved or deep fat fried. I like a bit of time to sit, look forward to my food coming out, chat and enjoy life. My time at work is fast paced and busy, I like my down time to be more relaxed and easy to enjoy.

Going to the loo in the pub and spitting in the urinal.

Then realising you're still wearing your face mask :-(

I like the solitude when I am out in the hills. If I choose to go up Ben Nevis on a Saturday in summer then I know I'm not going to get that.

The divisive nature of everything these days, everything is polarised, as soon as people disagree on one thing then they seem to be at odds with each other on everything. There's a whole load of people now who can't or won't see the nuance in arguments or points.

People that ignore truth and evidence ("people have had enough of experts") and feel that because they're entitled to their opinion it doesn't matter that they're demonstrably wrong. Like they could decided 2+2 equals 5 and just because you don't like it doesn't mean they can't share it, and worse than those people, are the ones that pick that up and run with it and hound people who tell them they're wrong.

I think part of the problem with something like coronavirus I think it's all so new and there is still very little consensus among scientists. There are various theories and hypothesis about how it will play out. An expert can be found to fit a hell of a lot of viewpoints. The same can be said of Brexit, the other hot topic of the day. I've referenced it before but the scene in the Thick of It when a bollocking is issued for 'choosing the wrong expert' could have been written with the last couple of years in mind.
