So this is what’s happening with the Premiership..

“The resolution also recommends that matches in the Ladbrokes Premiership remain postponed for the time being, to give the best possible opportunity for the remaining 2019/20 fixtures to be played.
However, if the SPFL Board determines that the remaining Premiership matches cannot be played, the Ladbrokes Premiership would also be terminated, with final season placings determined on the same basis.”

Seriously? There is clearly no chance fixtures will be played. Placings being decided on a points per game basis in the lower leagues. They are apparently trying to figure out any possible way to complete the top league games before calling it.

To be fair I think they are covering all bases by doing that.
They can now go to uefa and say government have us in lock down. Can we finish the season with our teams qualifying for Europe?
Going to be really annoying when we win the cup again and don't get into Europe.

I think they are really just hoping UEFA come to their senses and there is no longer a threat to the European places before calling it

As others have said Rangers are digging up their pitch, think it's safe to say they know the season is done

Looking at Scotland’s 4 leagues the picture is actually pretty clear cut.

Assuming average points as a basis to square off the mis-match in games played, no team in League winning or automatic relegation spots change position.

Sellick, Dundee Utd and Cove are miles ahead (even the most idiotic hun can’t really think sellick will lose at least 4, half of their remaining games, when they’ve lost just 2 all season so far).

Of the relegation spots, only herts and Partick could claim to be ‘in the mix’, but both have been bottom for ages so it’s hardly nip n’ tuck.

Those in the play-offs will be narked, but there’s no guarantee here and the set-up is weighted against them. Net/net, they’d be arguing for ifs, but’s and maybe’s.

Agreed - although the worst impact is on Partick: 1 point behind with a game in hand. Has to be average points to make it fairer.

Also a bit tight on Falkirk.

He’s not saying the positions are complicated because it’s actually less complicated than Patrick and they are relegating them. He is saying it’s complicated because they have to work with UEFA before calling it. When they do call it though, Hearts will be down.

If Hibs were in this position who would honestly being saying to themselves, "Yip, we deserve to go down"? I'm sure I would. There might be a few with an outside hope of reconstruction, not me but I'm sure most of us would be resigned to the fact that over the season, over the calendar year, by points gained and by average points gained relegation is what is deserved.


I'm sure a lot of Hearts fans are the same but Hats off to the bams on Kickback and the Loons threatening legal action on their board who cannot accept the footballing reality that their performances where just not good enough. Hibs won't vote against it. Nothing to do with Hearts the club are just smart enough to realise the league needs called to allow us to move forward.

Our club isn’t voting to relegate them. It’s got two choices. Vote null and void or call it. Null and void is the option not on club has supported other than Rangers. Even Budge has said she was against it and would rather have an extended league.

The financial implications of voiding a season are massive and give open season to sponsor and season ticket legal refund requests. Won’t happen.

Yep, it can't come to it.

The vote is to end the season (subject to UEFA approval). If Hibs vote against it, they're basically giving up any say on how this plays out, and risking the new TV deal cash-bonanza for next season.

This will be a 10-2 in favour vote.

You also have the scenario where the individual associations could come together and stand firm. If they all decide to end the leagues now they’ll have called UEFA’s bluff. UEFA would have no option but to hold their competitions based on the finishing positions from the curtailed season. Unless they keep the same teams from this season in next year’s competitions.

The SPFL is a private corporation, owned by the 42 member clubs who are all shareholders and have a vote.

We're currently in the middle of a global health crisis and the chances are that 37-38 of the clubs will vote to end the season now to enable everyone to prepare as well as possible for next season (whenever that may be).

Is there not also the scenario though that ithey call as it is now and declare hearts as relegated but announce immediate reconstruction to the league that solves the two problems of declaring the league finished but not punishing teams that didn’t get the chance to get out the hole they were in. So Celtic champs, Dundee Utd/A.N. Other up and hearts bottom but saved by reconstruction??

For reconstruction they need 11 of the 12 premier clubs to vote in favour. They also need 75% of the other leagues clubs to vote in favour. Those a challenging numbers for them to achieve.
