Hibernian 3 v 1 Brora Rangers
Mallan 8 12
Hanlon 89
Jack Ross used this fixture to give Gray, McGregor, Mallan and Gullan game time and handed debuts to Dillon Barnes and Stephen McGinn New signing Kyle Magennis took his place on the bench
HIBS raced into a two goal lead thanks to a Stevie Mallan brace with two superb strikes from outside the box
HIBS continued to push forward but despite creating many chances were unable to add to their lead and were made to pay on the hour when Gillespie scored a tremendous free-kick from just outside the box after Paul Hanlon was adjudged to have fouled Jordan Macrae
Hibs continued to push forward to restore their two goal advantage but the fans had to wait until two minutes from the end when Hanlon stooped to convert a Stevie Mallan corner

Loads of good games on this day well worth following the links above to see some vintage HIBS games from this day in history
The stand out probably Hibernian 2 v 0 Real Madrid 14.29 in the link below

I grew up near Mervyn and his brother Davy. Used to see their uncle John about their house a lot.
Davy went on to play for East Fife and he was a Rangers fan.
Mervyn I believe was gutted to get a free from Hibs (so were a lot of Hibs fans)
Here's a funny thing. Before the Malmo nightmare at ER I was waiting outside the FF stand and there was Mervyn, Davy and their families all decked out in the Hibs colours!
It was nice to see.

Here's one for you Billy. For the Real Madrid game 13 players were named. Who were our 2 "substitutes"?

Edit
In the 1981 Hibernian 4 v 0 Morton game Jackie McNamara lost four front teeth in a first half clash of heads with his own player Erich Schaedler
When asked what he was doing out on the pitch at full time Bertie Auld informed the Reporter he was looking for some teeth to put more bite into his midfield
