Black Live matter fight goes on, and yes people are repurposing the term woke as a negative thing, but for me it remains a positive term. It was derived to note those who were becoming alert to the prejudices faced by many minorities. If you want to use it that way, then so be it…but it is a right if centre view of the term, which does nothing to recognise where is grew from.

We talk about current topics across all domains a lot on this forum. It’s driven by the news cycle. Just because we do so, doesn’t mean we care less about topics of last year, whether it’s about football, politics or prejudice….that’s just the nature of social forums…..

It seems like this thread is painting all Conservatives with the same brush. There will be voters of many races, religions or levels of wealth that vote for all parties, Tories included.

You’d have to be ****ing mental to trust these Tories with anything, let alone the economy.

To be fair they are doing a pretty decent job of transferring the wealth generated by the economic activity of the many into the hands of their chums and they all clearly trust each other.

No need to back off. Can't say I agree with much (any!) of your political stance but you at least put up a defence and that is to be applauded. Maybe we will all wear you down and before you know it you will be voting SNP and campaigning for Indy!!🙂

For me, the car charging breakthrough will happen when they can design a charging system that can wirelessly charge, in the same way that some phones can be charged by simply laying them on a wireless charging pad.

Totally agree, I'm definitely going further left as I get older. I have voted SSP in the past and would consider doing so again but like you said they tend not to stand in my area either. I'll always go to the polling station and spoiling a paper is actively taking part in the process for me too. I wouldn't say it is meaningless spoiling a paper though, I would encourage anyone who thinks no-one standing is fit to represent them to spoil their paper rather than not vote. I would love spoilt papers to actually win a ballot, it may actually create some change

That would be fine too. I get it is a collection of views so the Labour Party will not necessarily be as left as I would like but the current Party isn't a million miles away from the Tories of the 70s. I don't expect my perfect view of socialism to be reflected in the Labour Party but I want it to be recognisable as a Labour Party. How could I have any joy in wanting the Tories dressed in Red winning. I'd rather stick with my beliefs and a party that represents them keep arguing for them. I'll just have to wait for a Party like that to actually stand in my area.

We saw it with the Owen Paterson scandal and we’re seeing it again now with the rigged appointment process for the new Chair of media regulator Ofcom.
Paul Dacre is the former editor of the Daily Mail of 26 years, and Johnson’s preferred candidate for the top job at Ofcom. He’s in a bit of a pickle though, given that an interview panel deemed Mr Dacre “not appointable” just a few months ago.
