Let's stop spamming the thread. I know we're all bored but surely there's better things to argue about rather than whether or not I could phsyically see an article or if it existed on the mobile version a website at the time.
Maybe I need glasses.

Nobody said they can't get it, just that it affects them less. These are the stats from the Imperial College report:
Age-group(years), % symptomatic cases requiring hospitalisation, % hospitalised cases requiring critical care, Infection Fatality Ratio
0 to 9 0.1% 5.0% 0.002%
10 to 19 0.3% 5.0% 0.006%
20 to 29 1.2% 5.0% 0.03%
30 to 39 3.2% 5.0% 0.08%
40 to 49 4.9% 6.3% 0.15%
50 to 59 10.2% 12.2% 0.60%
60 to 69 16.6% 27.4% 2.2%
70 to 79 24.3% 43.2% 5.1%
80+ 27.3% 70.9% 9.3%
My Mrs works in a care home and has just called me saying that they are down to 5 staff, it should be more than double that number.
Staff members calling in or leaving, saying they are self isolating.
No resident has any symptoms, people will take advantage of this situation.
Proof that these were fake photos as the latest images emerge from London

They are estimates, I think mainly based on analysis from China. The table is from the Imperial College guys the govt are using, report was linked here a few pages back.

Update from here on Lanzarote.
It was feared that there were 4 new cases earlier this week, but initial positive tests on the island have been proved false by more thorough testing in Madrid. I guess this means there are two types of test going on
Good news is it means we are back to just 3 cases in all. Other than a few nutjob tourists who came in this week, identified by residents, flights are coming in empty to take folks home, so there's a good chance the island will soon be virus-free.

No 10 says there is 'zero prospect' of a big lockdown of London - as we've been reporting there might be tightening of restrictions but remember that is VERY different from other suggestions of travel bans or the kind of total lockdowns some other countries have pursued
Probably still a bit early to tell if we are fitting what seems to be the "usual" western growth curve or not:

Wuhan province reporting no new cases for the first time which is positive news.
Looks like China and Korea are preparing themselves for the possible 2nd wave that could come with people returning or arriving from overseas but with the measures they have in place now they should be in a good position to handle that.
I'm sure some folk are getting a buzz out of the situation. All excited like it's big joke that won't affect them

The same people with houses full of supplies to last months and who probably won't be all that affected by having to stay indoors for a couple of weeks.
Simply put, people will have personal and legal reasons as to why being in total lockdown from tomorrow really isn't an option. They won't be enjoying the gossip, quite as much.

Scottish exams cancelled and grades based on coursework. No surprise. Expect lots of appeals!
It cant be from their prelims alone as theres no consistency. Also predicted grades are rubbish, my kids have always scored above their predictions. I cant see how this is gonna work. My sons got an unconditional and a conditional offer for uni and im sure he will be given what he needs for the conditional but the 4th and 5th years are gonna suffer from this in the future i think .
My boys gutted the work hes done on 2 massive assignments are not going to be marked properly.
Nobodys fault, unprecedented times but really sad for the 6th years. Walking out tomorrow, no exams, no leavers ceremony, no yearbook, no end of school trip and the proms been postponed . They feel like theyve been forgotten.
If my grades had been based on my coursework through the year I'd have been up **** creek without a paddle..
I'm a bit concerned as my kid is in 4th year. She did well in her prelims and her coursework has always been of a high standard but it just smacks me as being a bit of a lottery in terms of how they will hand out results.
This will have a huge impact on all these kids going forward. Not really sure what to make of it all.
Don’t know why the exams could not have gone ahead. Smaller exam rooms with more spacing (There’s gonna be plenty available) there will be plenty teachers available to adjudicate. Remote teaching/support between now and the exams is surely not outwith the realms of possibility. Seems a bit strange to me. Maybe the government are party to information we aren’t and all that is not going to be possible going forward.
Remote teaching might work for some but probably those that would succeed the most in that regard would be the pupils that come from wealthier or better backgrounds. Can’t imagine the home lives for a lot of pupils would always be conducive to them ‘attending my lessons via MS Teams or the like.
I would suggest it would be highly unfair to examine pupils who have just lost their last vital few weeks / months of teaching, esp. those doing highers.
All in all it’s a situation that simply cannot give positive outcomes for all the kids involved as some will benefit from the proposed approach while others who may have been a bit crap or lackadaisical during the year but pull it out the bag on the day of the exam will lose out.
