Watched the first 5 episodes of the last season of Happy Valley last night in preparation for the last one on Sunday. It really is one of the best British dramas ever made. Sarah Lancashire and James Norton are both fantastic in their roles. Can’t wait for Sunday.
Your Honour (Brian Cranston) second series coming Feb 3rd folks 👍
The Last of Us has been really incredible Tv so far. Something even better about it being one episode per week too. Don’t think the latest episode would work so well if it was a binge release
ITV are trying to create a British version of Greys Anatomy in Maternal, it's not going too well.
I agree, with all of that.
For the first time, episode 3 deviated from the story in the game, but it deserved it's own distinct showcase (I can't find the right phrase). At first I thought they were incorporating elements of the Part 2 story, but it seems they are planning a second season so maybe not.
I think we'll see a lot more of the infected and the various baddies in the remaining episodes.
Your Honour, enjoying it so far
Been watch deep state. Been enjoying it so far
After all that hype I think I was expecting a better ending to Happy Valley than that.
Angel of Death, Polish serial killer drama on All4, well worth a look.
Dunno, thought it was pretty decent myself and fitted in with the approach taken throughout. Thought the face off between the two main protagonists was very well done.
Also seems to have been pretty universally acclaimed elsewhere.
Never going to suit everyone I suppose and didn’t deliver some of the more outrageous suggested endings that were floated in the run up but I don’t think it was ever set up to do so.
I liked the ending. Brilliantly acted and some kind of redemption for TLR. It’s not like the episode lacked any action, the scenes earlier were brutally violent to the extent I almost had to fast forward it. I’m not usually affected by violence on screen, but Happy Valley has always outdone itself without being ridiculous.
Every story apart from the main one was wrapped up in a 30 second chat between Catherine and her boss, I was expecting a bit more depth.
This saved me a lot of typing!

Navalny.
Just watched it on BBC4, so it will be on the iPlayer.
Has anybody watched Yellowstone and is it worth persevering with?
Granted I have only watched the first episode of it but it didn’t really appeal to me
I’m late to the party but having just got Apple TV for the first time I’m loving Ted Lasso so far.
The Gold
Really like Neil Forsyth's writing.
Just watched the first episode of the Chris Packham series on autism.
Pass me the tissues, that was heart rending and uplifting in equal measure.
Love the Great Pottery Throwdown
Yeah it was very emotional. Made me wonder who I know is masking unbeknownst to me. If 700,000 females are undiagnosed, I just wonder how many have been misdiagnosed, especially for those on the milder end of the spectrum. I had a training course booked a few weeks back to learn more about autism but was ill and missed it. I'm keen to learn more, looking forward to the 2nd episode.
Well yeah comedy is always a bit like that to be fair. I’m one of the few who never likes the Office for example!
It’s won plenty of accolades though so they must have done something right.
Best comedy on Apple is Acapulco I’d say, enjoyed that more than Lasso.
Last of us remains really good, slight merging of certain things from part 2 in the latest episode rather than the first game, but setting it all up well and remaining really faithful
For those discussing shows on Apple TV check out 'Shrinking' with Jason Segel. Brilliant.
Just want to mention Last of Us again, it is a brilliant piece of television, production quality, set design, acting and direction is all top class. You can tell it is made by the same folk that did Chernobyl.
Anyone like Arrested Development? I tried it years ago and wasn’t sure I liked it or not. Trying it again and up to beat the end of season 2 this time. Think I do like it and it’s probably more hit than miss in general. Do find myself skipping scenes with Buster and George Snr though.
I read this comment on Monday before I had watched the latest episode and my heart sank at the thought of Leonard and Marilyn (Marlon and Florence) getting killed, because lets face it most characters introduced end up dead by the end of the episode, I was really happy to find out they didn't die! It was great however brief to see Graham Greene and Elaine Miles back on screen together, can't believe is has been 28 years since Northern Exposure ended!!
I've just found it on my TV stick, all 6 season!! Thanks for bringing this back to my mind, I have not seen it for about 20 years, that's the next few weekends dealt with, an extended Northern Exposure binge  Appropriate it has arisen on the Best TV thread!
The biggest problem with diagnosis is that it costs the government money.
Both my kids were diagnosed 14/15.
The $h1t3 we were always fed was you don't want your kids labelled with being autistic.
FFS if they are autistic they are autistic.
My Mrs knew for over 10 years something wasn't right, but unfortunately the hoops you have to jump through to get the right outcome is tiring & unnecessary.
You need the diagnosis to get the help that is needed.
Come back and let me know if you think it still stands up to 2020 viewing! Season 4 with the much maligned Mike Munro character gets a lot of criticism but there are still some gems in that season too. And Favourite episode of course (Seoul Mates for me :greengrin )
You know the main thing I have noticed is how square 1990s TV was :faf: Strange watching it on my widescreen UHD screen. Just watched the pilot again last night and it brought it all back, I remember how it pulled me in back when I first watched it. It has dated but tbh I kinda like the nostalgia of it at the moment. Mike Monroe, that was Anthony Edwards, Dr Greene from ER, another show I watched at the time. I look forward to getting to S4 to catch up, got 37 episodes before I get there though!
I’m not sure if the version on your fire stick will have the original soundtrack (which was great). I have a memory that there was some licensing issue that happened, which meant they had to edit new music on to certain scenes in later seasons. I watch it on old box set DVDs through my Xbox and as you say there’s issues with the screen size and one of the dvds definitely has a different music editor on it. By modern standards it has a very ‘analogue’ feel to everything!
Watched red rose on Netflix over the last few days, it was fine but my mrs loved it. Probably like a 7 or 8 out of 10

Surgeons on the Edge, dont know why I put myself through it, I cant stand blood or guts or legs and ankles in positions they shouldnt be. I just look away all the time 🤣
But I watch bits of it 🫣
The new season of Succession, is to be the last. Gutted
I know this thread is meant to be for best tv but, just finished episode 3 of Desperate Measures, one of the worst programmes I've ever watched.
'All Quiet On the Western Front' on Netflix. Best film I've watched for a long time. :top marks
Bit late on this but just watched season 1 of Yellowjackets. Thought it was brilliant and can’t wait for season 2 next month
Obvious echoes of Lost but it’s a worthy comparison and the casting is spot on. Hopefully season 2 can live up to the hype
Bronson, Fit To Be Free on Ch4 tomorrow night, he is due for parole next month, should be an interesting watch
I’ve just binged on the series Ted Lasso. I originally thought it might be a bit naff but I quickly got hooked on it and really enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to the third series now.
For anyone who enjoyed Paul Whitehouse in Gone Fishing, there’s a couple of programmes starting on Sunday on bbc2 where he investigates how bad the pollution in Englands rivers is, and by all accounts it’s a shocking watch.

Paul Whitehouse's program on BBC2 on the state of English rivers is well worth a watch
Last of Us continues to improve for me. Glad it's not the typical "million zombies attacking all the time" show and focussing more on characters. Last couple of episodes have been brilliant.
Outer Banks on Netflix. 5 eps in and really enjoying it
I watched the first season when it came out but then didn't keep up so just restarted Snowfall.
Next I need to catch up on is Mayans.

There's a big Nicola Walker sized hole in the middle of Unforgotten, still enjoyed the new series though.
Mrs Radge and I have been watching Gracie and Frankie on Netflix. It's perfect when you're not in the mood for anything that needs effort but it's actually very funny.
It stars Lilly Tomlin and Jane Fonda and they're brilliant. Fonda is still stunning at whatever age she is and Tomlin delivers her lines perfectly.
It also stars Martin Sheen, but the rest of the cast, although good, don't reach the heights of the two older women.
They're 30 minute episodes too so perfect for a filler.
Started Line of Duty yesterday 😵
Like him or not Clarksons Farm S2 was excellent.
Just watched episode 8 of The Last of Us.
Brilliant.
It's ok baby girl, I've got you.
*Small spoiler coming up
Started blubbing like a baby when he said that. Bella Ramsay is an amazing actor, she deserves multiple awards for this episode alone. The trauma in her face after mincing David's head with the meat cleaver really got to me. I almost gret when Joel found her and lost it completely when he said baby girl. Not sure how I am going to handle the season ending on Monday.
I never watched Breaking Bad but I’ve just started Better Call Saul. I think I’m going to enjoy it.
Finished blackbird the other day really good, hard to say you enjoyed something when it’s based on true events but it was very well made
Just started my annual rewatch of Band of Brothers, it's still utter perfection :top marks
As much as I wanted to like Paul Whitehouses programme about River pollution, im afraid it just didn’t work as well without Bob and the relaxed delivery, and of course you’re staring at bits of poo floating in rivers instead of kingfishers through dappled sunlight. Not quite the same relaxed vibe! But of course, a great cause is being served by making the programme.
