There is very little evidence of large events being the primary point of transmission for this virus - again, that notion is another relic of 2020 COVID understanding, where the idea of super-spreader events was rife. The key thing would be whether people still meet indoors, and I think that if they were to try and introduce restrictions on that, governments would be in for a nasty shock at quite how low adherence to those rules would be. I almost think that it is a 0 or 100 situation now, thanks to vaccines. All restrictions short of a military-imposed lockdown are largely theatre and do little to stop the spread, and whilst things like stopping large events from going ahead may be seen as prudent or sensible, the reality is that it would do very little to halt transmission, which shouldn't even be the aim at this point of the pandemic, the aim should be to reduce hospitalisations and deaths
To sum up, governments doing things like increasing the rate of booster jabs and funding antiviral treatments = very good and will work against COVID. Governments pissing around with travel bans, mask mandates and other societal restrictions = not only bad but also won't really work against COVID
