This is why the financial fair play rules must be imposed as soon as possible. Teams that live close to the edge (or over it) are basically thumbing their noses at the rest. As we are forever being told that the SPL is the clubs we are basically going out of our way to aid and assist our opponents in their financial impropriety. How can we live with ourselves if they continue ripping of the fans and their children, not to mention the frail and elderly who won't get the medical care they require due to them not paying their due taxes.

You know what amazes me? I have pretty much read all 554 pages of this thread, it has been informative and well informed, insightful and deliberated. It has been wrong at times, but that was usually due to misinformation from the MSM. But through the whole thread we have taken more interest in that club than their own supporters, even now, in their death throws have taken about their own club.

As a Hibee I cannot imagine doing this, if this ever happened to Hibs (which with the way we are run probably wouldn't have happened to us) I know that this would have been sorted long ago, we would never have let it get to this stage, we would have asked questions, pushed for answers and harried the board until all our questions were answered. Every year we have a long thread about the state of our accounts, which are published in good time and in good order, we debate the good and bad of keeping the club "within it's means", yeah some of us want to spend more on the footballing side, some are in favour of keep a tight budget, but we all care about the financial side of the football club. Maybe we are lucky, had we not gone through the early 90s we may have been less sensitive to issues like this?

Looking a brokeback at the moment, you would never guess that their club is in such a state, maybe it is ostrich syndrome :ostrich: I really don't know but surely if your football club is in the state theirs is in you would care more? I know jambo's, most ******s, but a few who are genuine football men, who love their club passionately but even they fail to see that the last few years have been the death by a 1000 cuts for their team, they prefer to see 1-5, 1902, 22 in a row. I really do not get it. Maybe a few of the yam lurkers would like to come on this thread and enlighten me:confused: I doubt very much that will happen though.

My understanding from that is that their VAT payment will be due by each month end (31 May in this case). HMRC give businesses who are not in the POA scheme seven days grace to pay VAT* - they seem to have given Hearts that advantage in this case as well. I suspect Hearts will have phoned up HMRC last Friday (31st) to tell them they wouldn't get the money (hence the "we are in dialogue with HMRC" spin yesterday) and HMRC have told them "okay, but if we don't get the money next week we will take court action" (ie if they don't pay before the weekend HMRC will file papers on Monday).

*This is a legacy of shifting from submitting VAT returns on paper and paying by cheque to submitting returns online and paying electronically.

POA is compulsory for businesses with an annual VAT liability of over £2.3m rather than turnover, which equates to a turnover of £11.5m with no input tax so the Yams won't be in the scheme.

That comes as a relief to me as several of my clients have turnovers of more than £2.3m but none are on POA. I need to change my trousers now though.

I imagine they'll get away with it again. They always seem to. There must be plenty Jam Tarts in the tax authorities.

It's certainly a possibility, or they could have registered voluntarily as CWG says and it would explain the timing of their debt. I'm a bit dubious that all reports seem to be referring to it as PAYE though - despite STV talking about Rangers paying VAT on wages.

This is the note from their accounts about paying up the £1.5M settlement to HMRC:

This suggests that May was the first month they had to find anything but since £242K was due by the end of June, the first 2 payments might've been abnormally large (anyone have previous experience of HMRC payment schedules?) They did previously trumpet that they had paid May's installment but perhaps June's is the payment they've just missed?

I've been amazed by this aswell. Whenever you ask a jambo about their current awful state all you get back is "oh but but 5-1, 1902, use are a wee team" etc etc. This obsession with us has blindsighted them from their own troubles and has made them live in this ridiculous fanatsy world.

I've got a chip and pin card machine for my business and credit card transactions come through in 3 working days, not sure what t&cs hahahahearts will have but no way will it take 60/90 days to credit, so if 80% of the tickets where paid for by card they've had the money and *****ed it already. fuds.

Remember FlyGlobespan? They went bust because the company who processed their card payments was holding onto the funds for much longer than they should have. Would be a shame if the same thing happened to Hearts :greengrin

I find it remarkable that the yams still hail Vlad as some kind of God. If someone had done to my club what he has done to theirs I would want them bloody hung! Yes he bought them 2 scottish cups but the club are crippled and facing extinction, was 2 cups really worth it?!

He has lied to the mutants for years and all they have done is swallow his every word regardless of how insane and ridiculous his lies are. Wheres the massive multi-plex stadium he promised? or the world cup stars? or the SPL title? or the Champions league title?

My reading of rule A6.26 is it applies to PAYE & NI only. In addition they have 28 days from it becoming overdue to settle the a/c.
However, it has been suggested on here that it may be a partial default on the monthly agreed payments with HMRC for the £1.6mm. In that case Yams would be subject to sanction immediately by SPL. I doubt this is case but we can hope!!
