The good news : I watched this game from Hospitality ( you needed a drink to watch this team)

The bad news : It would be our last win in quite some time

Sam Stanton opened the scoring with a glorious 25 yard free- kick Ross County then hit the crossbar before Tom Taiwo slotted home a Danny Haynes cutback

Richard Brittain pulled one back for the Staggies with an excellent free-kick in the second half

Deeks sent a rasper past Gordon from 22 yards to open the scoring

Scott Brown was lucky not to be sent off just before half-time after a high late challenge on Steven Pressley having previously been booked

Into the second half and Colin Murdock immediately gave away a penalty when he hauled down De Vries in the box Pressley sent Andersson the wrong way from the spot

In an increasingly bad tempered game Robbie Neilson was fortunate not to be sent off for a bad challenge on Roland Edge

Paul Hartley beat Andersson all ends up when he struck the post with a dangerous free-kick Gary Caldwell booted the ball away to safety

15/2/ 1985 Friendly Challenge Match

Hibernian 2 v 0 Moscow Dynamo

Durie 2

Hibs were out the cup and Moscow Dynamo were on a winter break so why not ?

Dynamo were a decent side and got to the semi-final of the ECWC in this season

What I remember of the game is that the Dynamo defenders could not handle the power and pace of the force that was Gordon Juke Box Durie who fired in two first-half goals on a cold Friday night

Rangers 2 v 3 Hibernian

This game was a real old-fashioned Cup tie with a lot of good football particularly from Hibernian with Rangers indulging in brutal play

Hibs took the lead to the great joy of their large travelling support when Willie Smith scored Rangers were rattled and they became even wilder when a Barney Breslin free-kick found it’s way into the Ibrox net to renewed manifestations of delight from the HIBS support

Rangers were stung into action and their brutal play was being ignored by the Referee Rangers pulled a goal back and the Referee gave them their obligatory penalty but the spot kick was blasted over the bar

The Referee continued to protect Rangers into the second half and they got their equaliser Hibernian’s play however had been superior and they were determined not to let this match slip from their grasp

It is now that ‘Darling’ Willie Groves grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck going on one of his old mazy runs the Rangers defence hacked and kicked at him and ‘almost killed him’ but with his last ounce of strength he put Hibernian back into the lead with a glorious goal that he managed to steer over the goal-line

The action was not over however and you guessed it the weak Referee - Mr McArthur of Stirling- awarded Rangers another soft penalty but this time HIBS’ goalkeeper Pat McCall pulled off a brilliant save to finally knock the stuffing out of Rangers

After the match the Rangers goalkeeper Bell got changed walked down the Copeland Road and was never seen or heard of again

No idea I would imagine the Copeland Road would be even wilder back then

Maybe caught by his own or in the huff after being blamed for losing three goals to the inferior Irish immigrants 😃

I've been to Clydebank and it wasn't somewhere I associated with large attendances. We must have taken a fair amount of fans through that day.

Was there 0-1 in the Scottish Cup I think Gordon scored for them in the 1980s (1987)

A dump of a place IIRC :greengrin

Wasnt a big crowd either (6500)

That was a depressing day if it was the one at their place - huge Hibs away crowd.

Was there bad day at the office. Was clydebank not one of the earliest all seated stadiums in Scotland. (If you could call them seats)

Aye because it was cheaper to put bench seats in than to replace the crash barriers.

Without taking some action their safety certificate could have been in danger.

We took a huge support. Remember we had won the LC less than 4 months earlier & we were developing a reputation as cup specialists. Unfortunately we lost to Airdrie at home in the 1/4 final. IIRC Tommy McIntyre missed a pen at 0 0. That was my 12th year in London & incredibly, first time I saw us lose in that period, i reckon close to 100 games.

5 of us in the car that day and ended up going through the tunnel towards ibrox right into 1000's of huns, one of my mates turned a whiter shade of pale when my brother was telling them to gtf out our way:greengrin

Turned off for a pee stop and ended up there. Had another pee stop for them in fast lane at Charing X underpass.

Joe McBride took a sore one and went off injured, only to be replaced by another Super-Joe making his Hibs debut.

I remember being at Kilbowie for a cup replay on a Wednesday evening back in 1965 ? Hibs won 2 - 0.

What I remember was the weird 6 floodlight pylons, the terracing behind the goals was heap of dirt ,no steps or anything . There was a huge Hibs crowd through with buses lining the streets around the ground.

There were here a lot of bombed out buildings that had not been rebuilt yet after the Clydebank blitz.
Mind you it was only 20 years after the war finished, makes you feel ancient :greengrin

Remember it well. They were named ES Clydebank then as they had taken over East Stirling's place. Think crowd was about 15k & it may still be the ground record.

Almondvale saw its highest attendance when we played Livingston a few days after the AEK Athens game.

Not sure if it has been bettered or equalled since.
