Surely repercussions coming for Aberdeen
Yes you do and again this was yet another surprise. Putting aside the app is so flawed it’s almost impossible to get it to recognise either IDs a number of people don’t have passports or driver licenses. Especially those over 18 still to learn to drive and haven been abroad.
The rollout of this is the beyond amateur.
Good, common sense approach from Aberdeen.
Just a heads up for everyone, but as per this stream it is not a simple process all the time for this covid passport .I have just had a call from company who upon some investigation are saying they will sell you a covid passport and asking for financial details etc .I am pretty sure non on this site would fall for it .
The number had a town of St Andrews Fife 01334 845628
So after the excuses that it was just overused last night, attempting again tonight seems they still can’t find me. Must be a massive data issue going by the number of people getting the same message. Simple link to the NHS database and it’s failed miserably. Well done Aberdeen and would hope all major companies that are being affected for the next 17 days take the same stance.
Legally it comes into effect today, it just isn’t enforceable. What’s the point in the Grace period if companies can’t test the exact procedures they’ll be implementing. Until two days ago the enforcement was from today, the app would still only have been rolled out yesterday. The blame lies firmly at the door of Holyrood for rolling out an app that works for very few in the population.
I'd take that with a pinch of salt. I don't trust the government with any of my data and I give them as little as possible. Just look at America listening to every phone call and sifting through emails before they were caught and using the data. In this day and age data is like gold.
So I keep hearing, but apart from stuff like targeted adverts based on my searches - which can be removed with adblockers anyway - I am kinda unsure what "they" have on me??
We often hear that "tech is a double edged sword" but I am not sure how.
e.g. I use Android Auto as a sat nav, and it is fantastic because it aggregates the gps data of everyones phones and determines where is busy / quiet.
In order to have that advantage, you need to accept that "they" know where you are. But frankly, unless you are engaged in activity that would attract the attention of the police etc, I am unclear why this is a problem?
They would get a bit confused with my photos as well, they are a mixture of family and friends, and work ones with showing crappy rental flats in before and after condition.
As for listening to phone calls, if they want to hear me talking to customers about scheduling upcoming work or asking my wife if I should bring a pint of milk home, they are welcome to bore themselves to death.............
That's kind of missing the point regarding data and phone calls. It's a bit like saying you don't care about freedom of speech because you have nothing controversial to say. Social media companies make loads of money from your data and it can be used to manipulate people into spending money they don't have kn things they don't need due to targeted ads. As well as that the data is used to keep people hooked to apps and make them addicting as possible. If you couple that with the countless studies showing how damaging social media can be to the mental health of a lot of people it's not a very good mix.
I try to limit how much data on me is out there as much as is practical. For example I don't think Hibs are going to sell my data and send it to loads of 3rd parties, whereas social media companies have and will.
Theres no need for companies to hold on to as much data as they do so I make a conscious effort to give them as little as possible.

I’ve no concerns with anybody accessing my “ boring “ data either, but wonder about this new level of security photo ID check.
According to the nhs.inform site , the reason given for the photo ID requirement is to ensure you are who you claim to be before allowing access to your vaccination status.
We’ve all been accessing this data for months with our user name code from our vacs. Appointment letters , and suddenly this is not secure enough and we’ve to give nhs.scotland access to our photo ID held by the DVLA or UK immigration.
Any idea why it’s needed now , and if your photo ID is deleted once checked , or stored in Scot.gov files somewhere ?
Hibs probably won't sell data directly, but the likes of Verizon (Hibs TV) & Ticketmaster won't hesitate. There are also the finance company that does the STs, the folk that do Hibs Lotto type stuff, etc.
Like you I give as little info as possible, but it's definitely a losing battle.
Hearts CEO said they were trying to check 20% of attendees today in the trial. He was also very honest and said that as kick off draws near there will obviously be less checks as fans will be wanting in to the game in time. Very sensible approach and of course an open goal for those that want to get in without being checked.
Are the spot checks getting done before kick-off only? Will fans be checked if someone in the ground “grasses them up”?
Can see things turning a bit nasty if any the above happens.

The easiest place to do the checks is when people are approaching the turnstiles. I can't see anyone being checked in the ground once they've passed the checkpoint, and how would anyone know that another fan hadn't been vaccinated unless it was their friend?
If you're there at 2:30, then it's not delaying you to be checked, and if you're there at 2:55 you're standing in a queue anyway so there shouldn't be an issue.
However there will always be the entitled idiots (vaccinated or not) at 2:55 who will spend more time demanding to be let in than it would take them to show the requested proof. That means it's less hassle to check the 2:30 arrival than the 2:55, so a higher proportion of the early arrivals will be checked and fewer of the just-in-times. That may give the overall percentage check required by the Scottish Government, but it means that the selfish unvaccinated are less likely to be picked up as they will deliberately time their arrival as late as possible to minimise the chances of them being identified.
