Aberdeenshire, the area around the City is very nice and largely unvisited.
I'm born and raised in the NE and I always found Aberdeen a depressing and dreary place. Edinburgh on the other hand, after all of the travelling I've done in my lifetime, remains my favourite city in the world to this day.Quote:

Whilst I agree with a poster above that, similarly, I have seen many cities around the world and Edinburgh is absolutely one of the best all-rounders in my opinion, I do think Aberdeen gets a hard rep. The countryside around the city is absolutely glorious and the city still has some great wee pockets like Old Aberdeen, Belmont Street, Hazelhead Park, Duthie Park, the West End etc. I just think it’s very easy for Edinburghers to judge, living in a city which consistently is rated highly in global quality of life indexes etc.
Give me Aberdeen over Glasgow any day though.
