What a brilliant game this morning in Auckland between NZ and Tonga in the Pacific Cup.
Tonga led 24-0, NZ pegged them back to 24-24 (tries 3 and 4 were incredible) then Tonga hit a drop goal with 4mins to go to lead 24-25.
NZ then missed a penalty to win and then sclaffed a drop goal attempt to level with Tonga seeing out the last minute.
Tonga play Australia next week in the final.

newcomers Edinburgh Giants couldn't have got a tougher introduction to the super league with a tie against defending Champions Leeds Rhinos
fix i say, fix
Super League is back.
Wigan v Leigh, 60mins gone and it's 0-0.
Both defences have been excellent.
Amazingly it ends 0-0. Leigh kick a drop goal in golden point time and win 0-1!
wow glad i didn't watch this one
Leigh beat reigning champions Wigan in golden-point extra-time of the opening game of the 2025 Super League season - after the two sides played out the first 0-0 draw in the competition's 29-year history.
Gareth O'Brien kicked the decisive drop-goal three minutes into the additional time, ensuring a losing start for last season's quadruple winners.
The defensive discipline of both sides shone during a physical contest between these two near neighbours, with neither able to break the deadlock in an attritional but engaging 80 minutes.
O'Brien's one-pointer sparked massive celebrations and secured Leigh's first win at Wigan since 1983.
It was actually a good watch. Wigan should have scored a couple of tries but poor decision making let them down.
The defence was brilliant from both.
First time in my lifetime that we’ve won at Wigan, and it happened in a game like that!
Even before taking in to account that it was week one, the intensity was just incredible. Amazingly low penalty count and error count, too. Believe there was a 17 minute spell in the first half where there wasn’t a single break in play which is frankly astonishing.
This is going to get embarrassing for Salford here. Can't cope with St Helens at all.
so nothing has changed at Leeds Rhinos
beaten at home by the new boys Wakefield Trinity 12-14 dearie me
Good stuff, I'll need to get myself down to a game somewhere this season.
I really wish the Scottish Rugby League could get it's act together and somehow get a team into League 1 but that does not even seem to be on the agenda.
challenge cup 4th round draw, i've put in bold the sides going through :)

With £6 on a Hibs/Bolton/Leigh -12 trixie, it’s been a good weekend in this house!
Wigan 24-0 against Warrington at HT in Vegas.
I might manage Canberra v Wahs but no more than that.
What a pasting Wigan are dishing out.
42-0 with 25mins to go.
I thought the game was a good spectacle. Everything about the set up looked clean and sharp.
I'm not really a fan of these games going abroad in any sport but if you are going to do it you may as well do it right and I think the NRL and Super League nailed it.
Would have been nice to have had a tighter game but I broadly agree, I thought League did itself no harm at all with the trip.
If they can become closer to the NRL as a result, it can only be good for the game.
Got my tickets for the Saturday of magic weekend. Can't wait.
damn forgot this game today FT Rhinos 38 Cas 24

i'm sure he meant it as he's been at Elland Road a few times :)
Just on my way back from Hull KR 30 Leigh 0. Bad day at the office, but dare I say it HKR look to be serious contenders this year

14-6 ahead at Warrington then up steps the stupid individual errors, kin ridiculous
incredible right at the end with seconds remaining and Leeds get a scrum on the halfway line, too much mucking around actually getting it started and they run out of time, comical really

Referees getting in the way of what was a great game. 2 red cards for the same tackle that got a yellow earlier in the game.
Hull now hit the front. Very harsh on Leeds who were very good for an hour.
