With hindsight I should probably have said joint base guitar directors, but we all know who's really plucking their strings over at the halfbuilt arena.

I think they probably got that inference from Banderson's puff piece in the EEN.

Barnsley hired Daniel Stendel from a list including Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, but will he drink to success at Hearts?
Quote:
“We wanted to play a more aggressive, pressing style,” explained Conway. “So, utilising data, we identified some of the best potential pressing coaches for Barnsley. Guardiola was on the list, he was not available. Klopp was on the list, he was also not available. But Stendel was on the list and it seemed like a really good match for the club’s ambitions.
The only link Hearts have with Status Quo is Down Down Deeper and Down though they may also get Black Veils of Melancholy.
Yes, we take it Status Quo produced some songs. Can we get back to laughing at Hearts?
How can you sack a sporting director and then appoint the same person as half a sporting director?
Change the name from Director of Football to Sporting Director, divide by 2 and hey presto 2 Sporting Directors.
The Duncans are probably wondering who the new Levein guy is and also claiming he's an improvement on the one they recently "sacked".

I’m finding it hard to accept that Craig Levein is no longer the main man at Tynecastle. Stendel will continually be working in the shadow of the man who resents his presence at the PB. If ever push comes to shove, Levein will get Budge’s support before Stendel.
Utterly bizarre. They clearly can't afford to bring anyone in just now and are reluctant to completely abandon the failed 'boot room' approach (ie Cathro, Daily, Kirk, McPhee etc). What they've ended up with is a manager being asked to work with staff he doesn't know and being overseen by the manager they just 'sacked'.
I mentioned it earlier in the thread but I'm increasingly bewildered by the fawning approch to Budge as a 'businesswoman'.
This new structure of sacking people and then half reinstating them, whilst looking for a new sporting director, whilst the half sporting director works with the new manager is obviously far above our intellect.
We should stick to selling pegs.
You think it's funny just now? Medals takes it to a new level.
"For example, make Gary Locke the sporting director on top of his ambassadorial role. I’m sure he would do it for nothing, as would many others, myself included. I’d happily do the sporting director’s job and there will be a queue of others who feel the same."
They all want a shot. This could go on for years.
For their sake's they better have a 3 month pay off clause or similar or they are going to get shafted. Lovely jubbly.....
Am liking your thinking.
He's directing them sportingly whilst Nanny is in charge of the sportingly directing type situations, two distinct roles that us hobos would never understand, and all on a very decent salary hopefully.

So while there is a queue of potential sporting directors who will work for nothing, let’s call them amateur sporting directors, there will be the two half sporting directors being paid possibly a full wage each.As one of these is the sacked previous, one only, sporting director will he be the senior sporting director?I ‘m starting to get the hang of this, all perfectly logical. They could take on the amateurs and have a squad of sporting directors.Perhaps Gary being an ambassador would be the senior sporting director(amateur). He would be able to have high level meetings with the senior sporting director(professional).
I think Budge is basically a hoarder and cant get rid of anything. I bet her house is full of people she was going to get rid of but just couldn't bring herself to do it.
When Stendel is sacked he'll be pushed into the Sporting Director Shed with Levein and McPhee and they'll be joined by whoever gets sacked next!
Its all a bit Monty Pythonesque…!
We’ll have to wait in line behind Man City now. :grr:
I feel a bit stupid not knowing this, as Budge assured us at the presser that everyone knew, but apparently Hearts have a relationship with Man City.
While they aren’t as Big and Famous as our neighbours, I will concede they are a bit more big and famous than us, so will probably get priority access in Queen Anne’s court.
I don't have the intellectual capacity to understand the complexities of managing a huge, famous institution the size of Hearts.
I asked a friend who operates within a multi national business to explain how the Budge business model works in layman's terms.
He explained it in a simple manner which I still struggle to comprehend but I'll pass on what I was told.
Think about it in terms of a multi national tinned fruit company such as Del Monte. They have a director in overall charge of delivering produce to all major customers, he fails to have all the fruits tinned as required and millions of pounds worth of fruit is wasted and has to be written off.
The C.E.O, under pressure from investors has no choice but to relieve the director from his position.
The failed director's second in command is then given the job but he also fails to have the fruit put into the tins as required and further fruit has to be written off.
In despair the C.E.O. then employs a director from a rival tinned fruit company even though he is still under contract there.
When the new director arrives to take up his role at the fruit factory he is told he can't bring his own management team and he is required to work alongside the two directors who have been deemed unfit for purpose and were thought to have been relieved of their duties.
The new director quickly realises he has been set up as a patsy and goes to The Diggers to get steaming with the companies customers before jumping on the first flight back to Hanover, changing at Heathrow because there are no direct flights from the fruit factory.
I'm starting to understand the design of the eighth wonder stand.
Us petty Hobos laughed at the lack of segregation of the directors and punters. We must be imbeciles in failing to realise that they have so many directors they need the whole stand to accommodate them.
I'm sure all big clubs will be run this way one day.
Accirding to a friend who works in finance the great Hearts business model is quite common. Underperforming directors are kept on at their full salaries and given different roles but still relating to their original roles. A new director is brought in who is still under contract to a rival. He takes on the original role of the existing directors. He meets resistance to changes he wants to implement and there are no significant improvements in performance.
On the financial side the company has been operating at a real loss only propped up by large donations. They have overspent on infrastructure which is not up to standard. They have paid over the odds for the wrong raw materials. The donations dry up and pay compensation for the new director. They have to cut their cloth accordingly. The raw materials are off loaded at bargain prices and the size of their stock dramatically cut. Their ambitions to operate as a market leader have disappeared and they now operate as a second tier company. The old and new directors have left/paid off and the company is now run by small shareholders who have appointed a director from a small company in the lower tiers of the industry.
Benni McCarthy claiming he had talks to become Hearts manager too. So Stendel 4th choice
https://www.hmfckickback.co.uk/index...l-song-thread/
And I thought our song threads were bad...
"It was a special moment and I got a really good impression from him when he showed me all the facilities"
"After a short time I realised who he was, of course. It’s special but not so different from other situations in other clubs."
"I didn’t actually know it at first – and then I thought maybe this was not a little bit normal."
All of the above quote are from the EEN interview So apart from not knowing who Hearts were, he doesn't seem to have bothered looking into who had just been sacked from the job (otherwise he would have reckognised him)
I think it's hilarious - Potter started showing him around and it took a while for it to dawn on Stendel who he was, he then says that it's not really unusual then admits that it's pretty weird all the same
Read the press interview with Budge this morning where she claims that before going for "something different" she considered getting "a Craig Levein clone" in as manager. Please don't tell me they're making replicas of him, one is dull enough.
Bonkers, even by their own comical standards, you have to feel for the new guy, bet he's never shown the new guy round after he got sacked the last time.
Working off the daily hangover is bad enough without being dragged around hockey pitches at Riccarton by some jakey when it should be obvious to all concerned that the pubs/bookies have just opened.

Budge now quoted in EEN in a heartfelt summary of how fundamentally difficult it is to appoint an out of work head coach in 6 weeks.... “ I spoke to Craig about Daniel and others as potential managers and what did they know about him, if anything. It was the same as I did with other folk.”
https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hearts/latest-hearts-news/ann-budge-reveals-details-hearts-recruitment-process-and-her-interviews-different-managers-1338436
So when Levein was removed as manager and DoF but still remained at the club we all knew deep down this was a fudge and he would remain involved as budge just can’t face him leaving her/the club....all the hearts fans I knew were saying he won’t be involved, will be only involved with youth team etc etc.
Since then he has been confirmed:-
1. with Budge down south seeing Man City re Hickey
2. Gave the new coach Stendel a tour of the training ground - beyond weird
3. As above heavily involved in selection of head coach
4. Now joint Sporting Director with MacPhee
Let’s be clear Levein still runs the football operation. Stendel is going to just love the upcoming interactions with him 😂
I give Stendel until early next year and he will be away.
Cheer up Daniel Stendel
Oh what can it mean
To a, drunk German bassa
And a, ***** football team
Simple
Levein and MacPhee should have been punted right out the club 6 weeks ago. They both must be swinging into her.
Hibs.net song threads are horrible but this is definitely the Champions' League of Cringe. The epic 'Mr. Stendel' is a wonder of the genre composed, I can only imagine, by a chubby middle-aged chap while sitting at his desk in Standard Life/The Council/RBS and sung in its entirety only the once to his unfortunate Mrs/spinster sister before their TV dinner on Tuesday night. Of course, he'll try to strike up a rendition on Saturday but its general complexity will be overwhelmed by the award-winning atmosphere as a bumper sell-out crowd of nearly 19,051 turn up to cheer Mr. Stendel's swashbuckling boys in maroon for the first time.
Was it not Stendel who got battered from Joey Barton. Just remembered that
Stendel seems to be one of those guys who thing that if you leave your hair unwashed for long enough, it begins to clean itself with natural oils....It doesn't, it just looks greasy and unkempt.
Levein is a Budge crutch ........ my God, that sounds disgusting. :greengrin
Two things,
1/ Does Budge still have the mental capacity to run a business like Hear7s. Given the amount of mistakes she has made during her tenure, her shambolic overseeing of the building of new stand. Her shambolic appointment and subsequent ramblings of her last three managerial appointments I would suggest that she should maybe think about retiring after all she ain’t getting any younger.
2/ The McCrae's Battalion will be spinning in their graves at the thought of a German leading their team.
I think that Stendel is, at the very least, a more creative appointment than the likes of Levein or Neilson.
Having said that, objectively that press conference is a genuinely awkward and difficult watch.
Budge is clearly not that comfortable in front of a camera and Stendel basically just said that he'd never heard of Hearts. No idea what kind appointment Stendel will turn out to be for Hearts (Sporting Director is probably just as important for them to get right), but it's a bit of a weird start.
Not complaining mind.

Locke could be Assistant Sporting Director and Medals could be Assistant to the Assistant Sporting Director. They could give them both wee name badges.
