Roundabouts with traffic lights are the worst for this, but also any roadworks where there are temporary lights to control the traffic you get at least 1 but often 4 or 5 cars that will follow the traffic through long after the red light's come on, meaning the waiting traffic can't get moving.

The ****ing **** that designed the bit of road between The Gyle centre and the Gogar roundabout. What a stupid ****ing *******.
A set of lights right after the roundabout to let trams pass, then twenty yards on another set for pedestrians to cross, meanwhile traffic coming from Edinburgh Park gets held up trying to get onto the roundabout because, for some ****ing genius reason, they've designed the road to funnel three lanes of traffic into two lanes right at the first set of ******* lights.
So what you get is intermittent gridlock when the lights go red, and folk trying to guess what lane they should be in and without it being in any way clear, they have to start trying to nudge in past each other.
Yesterday I counted four different lanes trying to get into one at one point because the Gyle roundabout was such a ****ing shambles. I don't even blame the drivers now - you can watch someone join a plane at the Gyle side, follow it correctly around the roundabout and by the time they're ready to join the road up to Gogar, they're lane had been joined by several others with nobody really having a clue who is meant to be where.
It really is a terrible roundabout. Impatient drivers make it worse by blocking the exits though.Quote:

I was in Nottingham last Sunday, my sister in law was driving, and followed a tram down a street that had no 'no entry' signs, instead it was blue circle with a picture of a tram and a separate sign beneath with the word 'only'. Thanks to the guys who signaled to turn round.
LRT bus drivers and their God given right to pull away from a stop whilst ignoring the traffic conditions.
Western approach road to Lothian road, there are two lanes that turn right into Lothian road yet some drivers get upset when you use the empty left lane and try to block you in if you come across parked traffic on the left at the Shakespeare pub.

I think that means you should, not that you must. As a driver driving along I'd suggest you retain right of way over the bus and that the bus can only move into the flow of traffic if it's safe or is invited to do so.
They don’t. They are considered a hazard, but they shouldn’t just pull out into traffic. The majority of time they’ll indicate and move out when a gap appears. Usually this will cause the traffic behind to slow down a bit to let them fully out. I think what people have a problem with is when they pull out just as you’re overtaking them. I would say that’s mostly the driver not looking properly. There will be bad bus drivers the same as there’s bad car drivers.Quote:

That’s how my instructor taught me too (as well as pointing the door mirror all the way down to get a better view of the kerb. When I pointed that out he explained that the sticker was approximately where the rear wheel would be but yeah with successive cars it’s about trial and error. Also parking sensors are a necessity with modern cars
