People that are exempt should have a card or something to prove it in that case. Or why not wear a visor style thing - I don't want to share someone's bacteria just because they have a breathing disorder.

There are too many chancers who simply can't be bothered with masks. I don't use public transport (there's none for me to use), but it's no big deal to have a mask handy and wear it for the 5-10 minutes you're in a shop or speking to someone at a reception desk (for example).

My neighbour is a bus-driver. Quite apart from the "health-exempt" issue, he just doesn't want to risk a sore face.

He does say that most folk are complying, and that the percentage seems to be creeping up as people start to feel the social pressure to wear one.

Can't happen without a warning. People need to be given the chance to acquire masks and there will be many who don't have them.

I think the majority of shops are under no obligation to serve you, therefore it's up to them who they let in.

Will you have to ‘sign in’ at beer gardens on Monday? Or is that just from next week when the indoor areas of pubs etc open??

I have no problem wearing a mask in shops but what about supermarkets? Is it to be mandatory in Tesco, Morrisons etc?

I would imagine there will be signs outside saying masks must be worn. Most of this is down to us all doing the right thing though, as the vast majority will.

Having just walked the dog through our local park I can vouch for that. There's been sea change of behaviour over last wee while, probably coinciding with the school holidays. Today it's as though the virus had never happened, with kids oblivious to any form of social distancing and adults sitting alongside each other on every bench.

As you say, I think most folk have started to lose track of things - or maybe just getting complacent and thinking we're pretty much in the clear now.

At this stage with many people feeling complacent I very much doubt it. If the buses are an example of how folk will adhere to the rules then it isn’t very encouraging.

The announcement today said kids under 12 don't need to socially distance anymore.

But agree, think most people just aren't thinking tbh.

Michelle O'Neil under pressure to stand down as Deputy First Minister of the NI assembly for breaking social distance rules by attending a funeral. That's a pity, her and Arlene Foster looked to be working together well, looks like normal politics has returned .

I'm not sure I follow. Scotland as a whole, based on the current rate of infection, isn't a geographic hotspot. The localised spike in infections in the south west of the country has already been factored in to today's Scottish government update, with appropriate measures taken. Similar to the way Leicester's lockdown has been extended. This, surely, is the way forward until, ideally, a vaccine is successfully developed? Talk of setting up quarantine posts along the Scottish border just seemed absurd to me - although granted, as somebody else has pointed out, the whole issue seems to have been blown out of proportion by some heavily slanted media questioning.

Bus drivers are simply taking people at their word. My gran went on a bus earlier in the week (wearing a face covering) and the lady she got on with wasn't wearing one. The bus driver questioned her about it and she replied that she had a health condition so didn't have to wear one and that was that - she got on the bus with no more said. I believe bus drivers have been asked to initially question people but if the person mentions they have a health problem that makes them exempt, I believe they have been told not to take it any further.

I have no reason to believe that shops will be any different.

I personally have mild asthma so I believe I will qualify for exemption. I'm unsure whether visors will be included as mandatory for those unable to wear physical coverings/masks. I don't think that's been mentioned at all.

Personally speaking, I'll be doing most of my business online and staying in the house the majority of the time until this is all over.

Indeed. I went into Bath last weekend from Chippenham. Met some mates from school in Victoria Park and partook in a few ciders.

I stuck a mask on at the train station and took it off when I got into Bath.

I am in Scottish Borders, ten minutes drive from England. My understanding of the legislation is we can visit my parents-in-law and they can visit us. My parents-in-law are in Dumfries and Galloway. The sanest route is two hours minimum. There are longer, trickier routes. The sane route takes you into England for around ten minutes and then you are back in Scotland again.

What sense is there in policing that?

Nobody (apart from both sides of the constitutional divide's twitter twats) is talking about "policing the border".

The "not being ruled out" suggestion is that people coming into Scotland to take up residence (temp or perm) would be asked to self-isolate for a quarantine period. I can't imagine it could actually be enforced but the mere fact that it was being asked for might put off a lot of holidaymakers etc. I imagine things would have to be getting pretty desperate before they would actually contemplate doing anything at all though.

Exactly this. The FM was answering a question and all she said was that it couldn’t be ruled out. The are no plans to impose quarantines from any countries. If things change and it’s been proven that we’re importing cases of the virus from England quarantine would be the least effective measure we could use.
