I have no recollection of this player at all, and never missed a game home or away then?

IIRC, he was reserve keeper to McArthur or maybe Herriot. Went to Dunfermline.

Think that was 1st game I shed tears after, but by no means the last. IIRC the Dons keeper Freddie Martin was injured & replaced at last minute by Reggie Morrison who was MOTM. I think Reggie later made it up to us when he was President of Deveronvale. He strongly recommended we sign his player, Des Bremner!

Tony Mowbray outfoxed his Ibrox rival Alex McLeish once again to defeat Rangers for the third time in this season
This HIBS win was without difficulty as a hostile Ibrox bid for striker Derek Riordan resulted in Deeks starting off on the bench and midfield maestro Kevin Thomson was carried off on a stretcher after only 7 minutes
Hibs achieved their game plan of getting to half-time 0-0 then all hell broke loose
Ivan Sproule hung up a cross to the far post - over Ian Murray- and Garry O’Connor gleefully headed home
O’Connor then flicked a long through ball into the path of Ivan Sproule who buried a low shot into the corner of the net from 18 yards
Derek Riordan on as a Sub then threaded an intelligent pass through to fellow Sub Chris Killen who fired home past Waterreus from a tight angle at the second attempt to trigger chants of “ We are the peepul” from the packed HIBS masses behind the goal

4/2/1950 Scottish League Division One
Hibernian 4 v 1 Celtic
Turnbull 4 ( 3 pens )
This match saw four penalties awarded but from a HIBS point of view is best remembered for Eddie Turnbull’s hat-trick of penalties
Eddie Turnbull scored his first penalty when McGrory fouled Reilly in the box after 20 minutes
Celtic were then awarded a penalty that Bobby Collins had to take twice and converted following an infringement
HIBS then lost Tommy Younger to injury and Willie Clark had to take over in goal leaving HIBS down to 10 men
Just before half-time that man McGrory again pulled Bobby Johnstone down in the box step forward Ned to do the needful
Five minutes into the second half and Gordon Smith set up Turnbull for a tap in to complete his hat-trick
Turnbull completed his hat-trick of penalties 20 minutes from the end to earn a remarkable victory against all the odds
HIBS would lose the league in this season on goal average

Funnily enough I was recently looking at an image of Shades marshalling the HIBS defence at a corner kick and and the late Dr Whyte was standing behind him

Hibs cruised into the Scottish Cup Quarterfinals with a comfortable win over Brechin City
A deflected shot from Boozy hit the post before Sam Morrow curled a beauty past Craig Nelson from 16 yards HIBS further increased their lead when Garry O’Connor fired home a Derek Riordan cross eight minutes later
Into the second half and HIBS secured their place in the quarterfinals when Dean Shiels sent O’Connor scampering through the middle and despite a poor first touch was able to recover and slide the ball under the advancing Nelson
Six minutes later and Gary Caldwell put the icing on the cake when following a short corner his looping header from a Riordan cross deceived Nelson and his defence sneaking in at the far post

After knocking out Celtic injury ravaged HIBS were up against it against Rangers at rain lashed Hampden Park
Rangers started the better and after 27 minutes Daniel Andersson upended Ronald De Boer in the penalty box but he quickly redeemed himself with a fine one handed save from Arteta’s spot kick
Rangers were not to be denied however and Michael Mols swept Rangers into the lead just before half-time from 15 yards after a defence splitting pass from Ross
Into the second half and play raged from end to end Hibs brought on Stephen Dobbie with 13 minutes to go and he equalised within a minute latching on to a Derek Riordan pass and lashing the ball home from 12 yards
HIBS were galvanised as they went for the kill Fernando Ricksen was lucky to escape punishment when he elbowed Riordan in the face and Garry O’Connor had a decent claim for a penalty waved away
HIBS pushed forward in the first period of extra time but could not prise open the Rangers defence Into the second period and HIBS survived two mass scrambles in their own box with goal hero Dobbie booting a ball off the goalline
Onto penalties and both keepers had two fine saves apiece with Averladze blazing over the crossbar and Mattius Doumbe hitting the woodwork
With the scores at 3-3 Colin Murdock tucked away his kick and Frank De Boer hit the post cue celebrations among the 7000 rain soaked HIBS fans

Were there 7,000 Hibs fans at that 2004 semi? Seemed like fewer than that.
A great night, though
17 years since that hampden night, one of my favourite games!
Info taken from Hibernian on this day Colquhoun and Sinnet they state 7000 hibbies saying we were outnumbered 3:1
I was at the 1-0 at Hampden 1991 and there seemed to be hardly any hibbies but reports say it was a decent support that night too
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot..._1/3460147.stm
I was at all of these games.
The cup tie against Third Lanark was played just before they folded. I seem to have a recollection that there was a small band of Thirds fans at the Dunbar end with placards each with a different letter spelling Thirds.
Anyone else of a certain age remember this or is it nonsense?
Billy,I might be getting my dates mixed up but did Hibs play Brechin City on 5 February 2005 in the Scottish Cup beating them 4-0.It’s sticks in my memory because I was too late getting tickets for the Hibs end as they were sold out and had to go to the Brechin end.Good job Brechin didn’t score, because didn’t know what form the Brechin celebrations might have taken.
