Parliamentary Labour Party members don't seem agree with their leader these days. Personally think he's been ok in some things but pretty rubbish others. Way better than the bunch who's main job seemed to be coming up with worthless three word slogans every month or so, I'll say that.

A wee bit dated but still relevant no matter what flavour of Government we have, Kev seems to have the solutions.

The problem with raising the top tax bracket is nowadays its easy to move your assets abroad.
The UK will has had more millionaires leave than any other nation, we used to have net increase.
I'm not sure what a nation can do as you have to find a balance. We all want big businesses taxed fairly but companies can now move in an instant. The Ireland has a tiny amount of corporation tax so companies flock there, its a race to the bottom
People say imo naively that we should just tax the super rich on their obscene wealth to save our problems. I'd love to do that and perhaps 50 years ago we could. Now though they can move their company, assets and personal nationality elsewhere with a click of a button.

"Conversely, the United Kingdom faces the largest single-year exodus of wealth ever recorded, with Henley projecting 16,500 HNWIs acquiring residency status elsewhere"
I'm not expecting it to be invoked.
The tax system in this country works for one set of people and one set of people only and has done since 1979, from then on in it has only ever been arranged to suit that set of people.
There is a loss of tax benefits on assets and incomes when someone leaves. I'd triple the forfeits today, along with a seizure of their UK passport. I'd also wish those million/billionaires leaving a hearty f-off, and don't come back.
Given they are among the group shouting about "patriotism" the most they should be cool with that.
Given the Labour Party are a monetrist/neoliberal venture these, as I said, I don't expect it to happen.

Seizing millionaires passports and taking a huge chunk of money might get you a quick win and some cash. Whilst every other European nation is capitalist no company would ever come to the UK, the economy would collapse bringing unimaginable poverty and unemployment.
It would also have to be in a political parties manifesto. So when its clear they have won the election every rich person moves his assets and company abroad. It wouldn't be achievable in reality even if you wanted to do it
Instead of taxing the living daylights out of people fortunate and sometimes clever enough to make the kind of money being talked about, if we have a minimum wage in this country then why not a maximum wage? Say something like 20, 30 or whatever times the amount the lowest paid member of staff receives, chuck in some mandatory profit share scheme for all? Surely it's better for redistribution rather than giving it to HMRC for the idiots in Govrnment to squander? (not technically true)
You'd get labelled a "loony" for mentioning this time after time. If you were ever in a situation where it looked likely you might have the power to invoke anything like it, the people with the right to vote for you would be gaslit, very expertly, into hating your guts and labelled as a danger to the country.

Nope. They are off to Monaco and Dubai, most likely after rinsing this country's banana Republic tax system for yonks, any exit tax or forfeits on ownerships still in the UK should be stringent. If they wish to leave, as they can't even countenance losing some of their swag, as they do so slam the door behind them, like they did to that ISIS lassie. They're not very trustworthy citizens anyway, eg that bloke who finances GB News but lives in Dubai. F 'em.
I'm not really advocating it anyway. As I said the monetrists have deep roots in the UK, the actual ex-socialist party is cool with it, and no one questions it in any way. The only way to go in a different direction would be if there was a war. Even then the next war might be billionaires chucking rockets and drones down upon everybody. The psychos among them have it in themselves.

Looks like Reeves is about to get the sack.
I have no idea so thank f I'm not Chancellor. You tax a business fairly and any modern large company goes to somewhere with less tax, the same goes for individuals. Whilst the rest of Europe and the west is mostly neolib and capitalist, you've no chance as the game is rigged.
Agreed. This is the country that took those policies on board, along with Reagan's US and Pinochet's fascist Chile, and other govts fell in line. They lead to less and less tax takes, legalised corruption and ever widening disparity. Ever widening disparity, in history, has always led to war/revolution.
Yet we are expected to accept it as normal and anyone who speaks against it is a "loony lefty".

Zarah Sultana resigns from the Labour Party to co lead a new party with Jeremy Corbyn......
I doubt they will meet with much electoral success but it will be refreshing to hear a high profile left wing voice again. It might just shift the optics of the argument a wee bit rather than the centre right to the bat**** crazy dominating the narrative.
at last well done Zarah Sultana i've said it many times since that **** Starmer got the gig she should resign and start a new Labour party with any of those in Momentum joining a new socialist Labour party because this one is owned by israeli Donors, American private Healthcare Donors and other rich *******s, British Labour are in a battle to move as far right as possible to appease those voting for Reform, disgusting some who work having to visit foodbanks and they're here to stay whether it's Liebour/Tory/Reform, all of them, along with England, moving further to the right

A monetrist Labour Party attempting to govern in good faith is useless, they'll never turn the country around. This lot just see the status quo as normal. If they go for growth poor people still get poorer as that has been the case for 40 years. Great economic results, rich get richer, poor get nowt. Bad economic results ultra rich cash-in and the poor get cuts.
The Tories monetrist policy is to continue the managed decline and not govern in good faith in any way while putting as much public money into the hands of private companies.
Reform will be monetrism on steroids, mopping up what's left of the shrapnel, kettling workers into freeports while goading the populace to fight each other on the streets.
