Wondering who else they could be. Guessing Jimmy Bone and John Hansen were two of the players.
Turnbull should have signed Rough and kept the change for George Stewart instead of the Barrel. Might have won the league then.

A seesaw game and a dagger through Pat Fenlon’s heart and HIBS’ survival hopes
Lee Croft opened the scoring for Saints on his debut with an 18 yard finish on the half hour
HIBS had to wait until the 70th minute to equalise when Leigh Griffiths was pushed in the box and duly picked himself up and dusted himself down to convert the award
Saints regained the lead shortly after when the ever dangerous Liam Craig dispossessed Stephens and scored with ease
Griffiths hit the bar with a header from an Eoin Doyle cross before Calum Booth showed him how it should be done when he curled a beauty past Enckelman to score what HIBS thought was a share of the points
With the clock ticking down Sandaza received a cross from the left swivelled in the box and squeezed a pinpoint shot past Brown to seal all three points

Hibs had been drawn against Raith Rovers away in the Scottish Cup but before that game they had this dress rehearsal in the League on a frost bound Easter Road
The game provided great entertainment for the fans with Drummond in the Raith goal denying Joe Baker his hat-trick miraculously saving a postage stamp bound vicious drive after Baker had been set up by Gordon Smith tipping it around the post and out for yet another corner

Hibs were drawn against Partick Thistle at home in the Scottish Cup but first up they had to visit ‘Firhill for Thrills’ in the League
Eddie Turnbull continued his fine scoring form by opening the scoring just after the half hour
Thistle took the lead either side of half-time with goals from McCallum and Gibb but the best goal was yet to come
A corner kick from Ormond was delivered to the back post Gordon Smith controlled the ball with his first touch before sending it crashing into the net off the underside of the bar from an impossible angle

In the game that St J won 3 2 at ER as you say Lee Croft scored their 1st. It came from a Saints break when a midfield player ran into space & David Stephens backed off & off & off. Finally Paul Hanlon ran out past Stephens & threw himself in front of the shot. It was a magnificent block but unfortunately the ball broke to Lee Croft who scored. FFS Hanlon said the guy next to me. Plus ca change! 😁

Alex Gogic rose at the back post to head home a Dales corner after 17 minutes to give Hamilton a half-time lead
Jack Ross rung the changes at half-time with the ineffective Slivka and Hallberg being replaced by Omeonga and Newall
The change seemed to work after 10 minutes when Kamberi played a ball inside the full back Martin Boyle scampered onto it chipped the ball over the goalkeeper and watched in agony as the ball rebounded off the post Luckily the ever vigilant Christian Doidge was there to knock the ball home getting there just ahead of Gogic

Riordan scored the first when he was first to react to a Glass cutback sidestep his man and send a perfectly placed shot past Combe
The second arrived when he flicked a Garry O’Connor cross high past Combe
Derek was denied a hat-trick shortly before half-time when Garry Hay kicked his effort off the line after Combe had parried a Fletcher drive
The third goal arrived when after a pass from that man Glass Riordan drilled a low drive from the left hand side of the box powerfully past Combe

Vale Of Leven who had previously won the Scottish Cup were Hibernian’s opponents in the semi-final
The match that was due to take place at the Holy Ground on 15th January was cancelled due to frost and fog at the last minute much to the disappointment of the already gathered large crowd
The match took place one week later and the visitors looking good took an early lead
‘Darling Willie Groves’ then took a hand in proceedings grabbing an excellent equaliser and giving HIBS a second half lead. James Montgomery making sure of a Hibernian win with a third
Hibernian Park erupted in celebrations the slum team from Edinburgh’s Irish neighbourhood were in the final of the Scottish Cup Or were they?
Vale of Leven lodged a protest stating that the man who had destroyed them Willie Groves was in receipt of illegal payments accusing him of professionalism a serious charge in those days
It was to roll on to be one of the most bitter and controversial cases ever heard by the SFA
The match result would be upheld and HIBS would win the Scottish Cup for the first time in this season

Guntveit put Aberdeen ahead for the third time on 48 minutes only for Paco Luna to equalise with a trade mark looping header from a Grant Brebner corner
Derek Riordan Hurtado and Jarkko Wiss all went close to scoring before disaster struck in the 90th minute Ian Murray pulled Darren Young down in the box and even although Nick Colgan made a brilliant save from Darren Mackie’s spot kick Mackie was first to react and fired home the rebound
