Whilst it is pleasing, if you had seen the accies team you would be disappointed if he hadn't performed well. Not his fault mind you but still a long way to go for him to be producing in the first team.

An interesting piece in todays Evening News regarding Tavares.

A bit odd that we play McGregor ahead of Devlin, but maybe Daz fancied it and who's going to argue with the big man?
Was that Delferriere's first game since getting injured at Edinburgh City in November? Could he take on the Egan-Riley role in midfield next season?
Could be that Devlin is still getting up to speed and due to his injury issues we don't want to throw him into any games until we are 100% sure. I think this co tract was more to see how fit he was and to see how much cover he could realistically offer before another deal.
Or could be that Fish might be out for a few weeks and we don't want to risk him getting hurt in a res game if we are that short at the back.
Players with injury issues like Devlin are often in strange scenarios to look at from the outside but sometimes it's just managing his body.
Jair played right-wing back and was up and down the flank tirelessly all afternoon. He took his goal extremely well and played an important part in setting up Allan’s goal too.
Ethan Laidlaw is he coming out of contract ? .

I know this means absolutely nothing, but my mate started him on his Football Manager save and he turned into a phenomenal player. Full Scotland international and moved on for £13 mil 😂
By all accounts he seems to be highly rated by folk who watch the young team. Seems like he might want away though? As surely we've offered him a new deal.
I'm sure Laidlaw would have featured in the first team by now if he had any intention of staying at the club. No point playing someone who allegedly is wanting away.
He’d also maybe want to stay if there had been an actual pathway to the first team before a January re-think. Or he hadn’t seen signings like Bojang, in particular, or Melkerson, Tavares, McKirdy etc coming in, blocking his pathway despite little to no impact. Or wasting a season of development just to play 6 (or however many it was) games in Europe. I wouldn’t blame him for not wanting to stay.
Sorry, bringing youngsters through, or lack of, is a subject that annoys me far more than it should.
A solid argument has been made many times about how difficult it can be for a young player to make it all the way through to the first time, but if we end up losing a prospect like Laidlaw - one who really looks like he could be the real deal because he cannot see a way to the first team - then it would firmly back up all of your (valid) arguments.
Would put Johnson, Blaney, Aiken(also out of contract), Macintyre's and Rudi at least the same potential
Johnson and rudi probably the pick for me but chances are only one or two makes it. Definitely love to see him stay as he's quality but would give him too huge an offer as hes just starting out.
Maybe he is just waiting to see what offers come in. Could be a life changing decision so he may want to see all the cards on teh table rather than play a blind hand. Risks involved in that too but he looks to have great potential and has plenty years to improve. I hope he stays as he looks a real prospect but he hasn't had a look in even when we were struggling in offensive options. I wouldn't blame him for thinking the future is elsewhere.
If he's waiting to see what offers come even though we might have offered him a new deal I think he's been badly advised, our football club has a good history of producing and developing young players and he mighten get one as good . The article says so far Portsmouth, Mk Dons and Swindon are monitoring his situation , a step down from Hibs imo. I think he has good potential as well though the reason he's probably not had a look in , is probably down to the fact he's still only a boy and hasn't the physique yet to deal with the physical demands of the Scottish premier though as you say he has plenty of years to improve as a player.I wouldn't blame him either for thinking is future is better elsewhere though I do think he would be making a big mistake .
Both Jacob and Rudi came on as subs as the U17's lost 2-4 to Wales yesterday.
Good luck to Murray if he gets any minutes tonight or Sunday for the u21's.
