Ironically, given a previous post of mine, I used to be like that with fish.
I had fish in Poland when I was a boy and I was sick as a dog with the result that I couldn't/wouldn't eat anything but tinned tuna for many years.
Eventually I was able to eat "special" fish ( breaded and cooked to order) from the BBQ in Corstorphine, but battered fish still made me queasy.
Now, I love it in any guise. Maybe you'll have a gooseberry renaissance 😁
PS My wife is the same as yours when it comes to experimenting with food. Infuriating.
