Mummy, Daddy, I know I've been a bad boy, but please don't make me read anymore of this thread.

just saw fraser fyvie is a free agent...worth a punt until january?
Agreed with everything up to the last sentence. None of the signings by those four clubs can be classed as superb. Indeed Celtic have lost their best player by a distance and have replaced him with a work in progress. Neil Lennon's words not mine. Aberdeen look to have signed a couple of decent players in hedges and ojo but were stuffed last night with barely a shot on goal. Rangers have signed a lot of players but none of them can be looked upon as superb. They are all very good spl players but all very similar. Definitely enough for second in the league mind you. Hertz have signed a decent player in halkett,a gamble with walker and the guy from Cardiff nobodies quite sure about. Halkett is a good addition but he will need to be superb to keep the defence together with an ageing Berra,an injured souttar and a clearly inexperienced left back. Naismith is no doubt a good player but isn't a new signing. So none of them are superb and I would argue very few of them will turn out to contribute more than Scotty or Vela. All about opinions but unless they sign marquee player like Sutton or Larsson then there won't be any superb signings. If you think Any of the signings were superb then your watching different players from me.
Im not saying any of them signed are superb, some might turn out to be a superb signing for that team. All I’m saying is imo there’s nothing wrong with a fan making a presumption on a player based on what they know about them/what they’ve seen.
Some will also brand opposing teams signings as terrible based on what they’ve seen, nothing gets pulled up about that though as the majority will then agree as they don’t like the team and want to see it as a negative.
Acknowledging another team has signed a good player isn’t over praising them or criticising hibs - which I think is how a lot of fans have interpreted some of the posts
For example I said I think Damour will be a very good singing for hearts as I think he’s a good player and will suit the league.
Very few players in this league could be described as superb as a whole, some players just suit certain clubs however.
Agree that whilst rangers are making good signings, I’m not sure they’re of a really high quality, all of them seem to be very similar and probably good enough to come second but not enough for first imo.
Essentially all that matters is what we do, I’m happy with our signings so far and think they all have ability, a couple more quality recruits out wide, central midfield and striker and were looking very good imo.
Hibs lack real quality, that’s what makes a team click. Only Allan has that amongst the players currently available.
You can set up sensibly, be tactically astute and all the rest, but we need three or four more players with the kind of ability Allan has in order to make this season one a good season.
Early days etc, etc, but nothing has changed my initial impressions that we’re on a low budget trajectory just now. For a couple of years we seemed to be picking up good quality, alongside the quota of usual journeymen and players with some potential to develop. Can’t say that’s my feeling for this year.
Aaaaanyway, to football matters.
We lack a player who can dictate play from a deep position, and have done since Mcgeouch left. When Efe was still in the team, he would step out of defence to start moves and pick passes which covered that loss a bit, but that flaw has been much more evident now he's gone too.
Mallan has improved, but still has some to go, and I'd rather he was behind the striker.
That’s a real leap of faith! If you are interested in more signings it would be to your advantage to let every agent know. If they seriously thought you had finished and had no more finances left to strengthen then they would offer their players to other clubs first, would they not?
If we're to go with what we've got, I'd be inclined to swap Mallan and Allan.
Allan looked sharp against St Mirren but we struggled to get the ball to him. Mallan isn't brilliant when he's closed down whereas Allan has a wee burst and is great at creating a bit of space for himself. Playing Mallan further forward might see him get a few more shots away.
Slivka did enough in his appearances lately to suggest he might be a decent shout ahead of Vela.
It's the part of the team I'm still most concerned about.
To save me having to rake through all the previous "chat"....
Is Milligan definitely coming to Hibs on loan?
Anyone else think we are playing our cards close to our chest and will sign a few players on deadline day? Or just wishful thinking?
