We've already signed a keeper, and one with a really good reputation. And McGrath of course.
Three more good signings and our squad looks very peachy. Don't think Dons or Jambos would say the same.

I see on the Swansea forum they were talking about reducing the size of their squad by moving on some fringe players. We actually got a mention along with Derby in “ we really need Derby and Hibs to get their cheque books out ‘ take it that was referring to us about Myko . I don’t know if Derby was for another player or are interested in Myko . At the right price would folk be happy to see him back or think we should move on ?
I think he has just over a year left in his contract . If the rumours are true what he’s getting at Swansea wage wise I think he is more than likely going to have to take a fairly significant wage drop where ever he goes and Swansea will get nothing remotely close to what they paid for him which was daft on their part anyhow. Might be a long shot though you never know in football.
Kuharevich wants to come back so I would assume he knows it'd be a fairly significant wage cut.
I still like to think we can get better than Myk, albeit his form did improve a lot the last 5 games or so
I expect that finding a stable home, games and a manager will benefit his development. Had a very stop and start career until last season, but I genuinely believe his top end potential is way above the SPFL.
Plenty of players have had potential though.

I’d want better than Myko.
He’s decent for off the bench and putting himself about but I’m still not convinced
I get why there’s split opinions on him though I think he offered us something a bit different and the potential is there in he can improve . If the deal was right I wouldn’t be against bringing him back again . It will be interesting to see if we try as Triantis and him were two players I think Gray wanted back when he became manager.
Can you explain what performances were "Erratic" the season we finished 3rd?
We conceded 50 goals last season.
We conceded 35 the season the last time we finished 3rd.
The season following that we conceded 42.
Ryan was an integral part of both defences and mostly one of the first names picked by multiple managers.
I think I'll take the word of the countless coaches who called upon him and the multiple championships sides who were interested in signing him.
Tend to agree with this, Myko has seemed half fit all season and you have to wonder if he has it in him to up his fitness to a standard where it would be worth Hibs busting a gut to keep him. I'm not saying I would be against him staying, but I wouldn't want us to be blowing a large part of our budget on procuring him.
Was wondering about Sam Dalby after his good season with Dundee United, but it seems he has signed a 4 year deal with Bolton ... ho hum.
From the Guardian Rumour Mill
Sunderland are awaiting offers for the midfielder Nectarios Triantis. The Premier League newcomers want around £1.5m in exchange for his services after an impressive season on loan at Hibernian. Fortuna Düsseldorf and MLS clubs are keen on the player who is debating where his international future lies, with Australia and Greece both options.
If we were to sign Porteous would we be getting a player who was better or no better than the one who was, and let's be honest, struggling in the team before he was sold?
If he's not improved then I dont see the point of bringing him back. Watford sending him out on loan and then losing his place at Preston doesn't give me much confidence.
If he comes back I'll trust Gray to get the best out of him.
I’ve not seen Porteous for Watford or Preston, and I agree he wasn’t at his best before he left.
I think out of frustration and a sense he has to do it himself.
But for Scotland, on most occasions I thought he was very good and showed quality and discipline (Germany aside) that he has.
If we were getting him back for the sake of it or without the manager knowing him it would be a different story, but for me Porteous under SDG would be brilliant.
I’d want him to play RCB though and then if we fail to resign Rocky, sign a similar centre back with the athleticism he has
Logan Jimenez - first pro deal:
https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/2...rst-pro-deal-/
Well done Logan, i know a lot of the kids never make it to first team football, would still be a proud day for himself and his family.
Regarding Myko, would take him back if its at the right price, knows the club etc and wouldn't take long to adjust and i did feel like near the end of the season he was on good form.
1.5 would be big for us to get Triantis, would be worth the risk of that fee though i think and one we could make some good money on in the future.
Livi sign Zak Rudden.
On another note, Napoli are going to have a formidable midfield next season with De Bruyne signed (as long as he can stay fit of course). Gilmour, McTominay and De Bruyne in the middle should have their fans excited.
1.5 million is starting to leave our price range.
Yeah it's at risk of getting to a know when to walk away territory similar to McCowan last year. I don't really have that many doubts that if we were to spend £1.5m that we could make it all back and still get a profit off him within 2 seasons but it's also a large amount to chuck out in one go at a time where our finances have been heavily scrutinised.
I agree. I think if he was to even replicate this last season and have a decent showing at the World Cup he would be worth a good penny. It's just obviously a big risk to a club of our size to pay these types of fees. But one look at Aberdeens recent signings this season will tell you it's probably the way it's going.
1 mil is as high as we should go, if not then try a loan and failing that then there are other options out there.
Sorry, I don't maintain a detailed dossier on Porto, but erratic was a general view, not confined to the season we finished third.
Over his Hibs career he was a bit of a loose canon at times, costing the team with sendings off, mistakes and behaving like a petulant child, with the finger pointing, moaning and taking no responsibility for his own errors.
You can take anyone's word you want, I'll take the fact that he's failed to establish himself at a better level, for club or country as proof enough that he's not the second coming. As I have already said, he's a decent player in our league and if he's learned a bit of restraint he'll be even better.
If you want a more in depth dive into what people made of Porteous' Hibs career, there a fair number of threads on here for you, fill your boots. In fact, this thread alone is probably fairly reflective of what people feel. It's pretty mixed I'd say.
I suppose that is possible , I think it would be need to be the case as I really can’t see us paying £1.5m up front . Another thing I was thinking on is if it is going to cost as much as that even with add -ons etc . Is there any logic to taking in two different targets at say £600k or £700k would make us even stronger as opposed to buying Triantis even though he is quality? .
1 million, some achievable add ons and a sell on %
From what I recall of porteous was he had a mistake in him but never his fault. He'd berate teammates for misplaced passes or not collecting a pass from him if he'd mistimed/misplaced said pass
Looks like Xavier Simons has signed for Bolton then..
Aren’t we playing them in a friendly as well?
Unfortunately for us they pay a lot more than us ‘ also just signed Sam Dolby
Hopefully not a window of missing out on targets for us.
Rather Triantis than Xavier 🤞
Inevitable consequence if we’re going for a better standard of player. TV deal for lower league clubs in England make it very difficult to compete with them.
We’ve definitely got selling points dross like Bolton can’t offer, there’s no question in some cases we will lose out though.
Better that than signing crap nobody else wants.
With Triantis it's not just the 1.5 million fee, he'll be, quite rightly, demanding a wage to match that transfer fee.
Let's say it's 8k a week on a 4 year deal, with bonuses that's 2 million a year in wages plus the transfer fee you're looking at an outlay of 3.5 million to get Triantis in.
That's a lot of money to Hibs, Gray and Mackay will know better than anyone on here whether that's value for money but if we don't get him you can understand why looking at those figures.
Seen this that one poster says we have made inquiries about Myko , maybe nothing in it …

Who are these two targets for the price of a Triantis? Our midfield is already pretty stacked. I’ve said it before, I’m convinced our board will push the boat out for SDG this summer. If 1.5m is what it takes to secure Triantis, that’s what we’ll pay. One thing about the Gordons is that they have backed every manager with cash. And there’s nothing that’s been said recently to indicate that will change. Our transfer record is likely to be smashed this window - possibly more than once.
Yeah, agreed.
Not saying it's a bad signing if it happens, but the total cost of bringing Triantis to Hibs would likely be one of the highest revenue outlays the club has ever had to make on a player.
If it happens I think everyone will be happy but at the same time if it doesn't, I can understand the reasoning.
I know T I’ve been very much in the Gordon’s camp from day 1 as I know they will back us as much as they can . As I’ve said before for all the mistakes they’ve made I think they have a bond with the club and genuinely care about it , we are lucky to have them as owners IMO .
I suppose what I meant by two targets for the price of Triantis is if we end up in a position where the fee unrealistic for us or another club offers more and we lose out we could still end up just as well of if we spend the money wisely on a couple of other quality players if that makes sense…
For what its worth I would rather have him back and I’ve no doubts the club will try everything possible to get him
back too 👍.
Wouldn’t mind Triantis and Henderson to deliver
I think Dundee are on the verge of announcing Drey Wright.
Rangers fans expecting Josh Mulligan to sign in the next couple of days.
I think Josh Mulligan is a really good player, same with Lyall Cameron.
But the thought of Rangers having those two and Connor Barron in midfield doesn’t worry me at all.
Pretty disappointed we have not managed to get Simmons think he looked a real good player.
Would it be fair to assume players, agents and club officials are mainly in holiday just now given lack of transfer activity?
