Trump is riding the wave of 'isms' that is the dominant force in western politics right now. George W Bush gave a great speech on it way back in 2011. For all his many faults Bush wasn't an academically stupid man and he used historical examples from the post WWI period to prove his points. You get these periods, particularly in the USA, of isolationism, of America First, of barely concealed racism dressed up as tough border policy etc etc but it never lasts.

The whole refrain from the US during the 20s right through the 30s was that they had no reason to be involved in Europe's inter war power struggles, no reason to deal with the rise of Nazism because Hitler was Europe's problem, it was time to focus on America rather than send their young men to fall in Europe again.....That persisted until it became their problem in a big way.

This will pass, it always does. It might be painful in the meantime but when it comes to a head most people realise who was never on their side and those people are usually those with excessive amounts of both power and money. It almost feels like we need these reminders every 50-100 years as those who lived through it the first time around aren't around to warn us.

Are you enjoying the ICE raids? What about the economic instability and stock market rising and falling quicker than Stormy Daniels knickers? Or him berating Zelensky for having the cheek to defend his own borders?

Mainly around the amount of money the US pays into NATO and its general defence of the west. Other large economies aren’t paying their way. I

Anecdotal drivel ,in your opinion, while I'm talking to real Americans, from all quarters, californian, Montana, texas, louisiana, wisconsin,milwaukie,Michigan, ohio, west Virginia, north carolina, massachusetts, new York and even florida.

A very wide spread of the United States, east to West, north to south.

Real Americans with real lived experience of trumpian policies.

You, on the other hand have the same, arms length experience that the rest of the UK has.

Out of interest, what is it you’re loving about ICE raids? I presume if you’re loving them that they’re having some sort of positive impact on you and your life? If not then you’re really just revelling in the misery of others and often times misery that’s heaped upon them illegally by the Trump administration.

As long as it doesn't drift into personal abuse (and I see you got a few already) then we should be able to discuss and debate in a respectful way. It's good to see other opinions as there is a certainty a bit of a group think here, if you don't align with the majority then you tend to stick out.
