I disagree here. Their toxic ownership and debt strategy is entirely to blame. They inherited a genius in Alex Ferguson, who covered for their deficiencies, but since then it's been negligence and decay. Without leadership you have chaos, and Man United have been chaotic since the great man retired, because the owners have no idea. They are not football fans; they are asset strippers who have been overtaken by the likes of Man City and have no clue what do next. After Fergie retired, they should have gone for best in the business and taken a serious investigation into their model for United going forward. They have been absent, negligent and incompetent.
