Looks like the regionalisation is applied to the unseeded teams only.

Every year the European draws come round, I go looking for the “principles set by the club competitions committee”. I’ve never been able to find them.
Edit: I’ve actually found them this time, this is the version for the season just ended: https://editorial.uefa.com/resources...r_ko_phase.pdf
Still doesn’t make it clear how they decide on the groupings
So one of Braga, midtjylland, Anderlecht or Lugano.
I know midtjylland have done well in Europe recently but would they be likely to lose players most summers on the back of doing well? I know we’d be big underdogs but would we have any sort of a chance against them?
Teams we can face in QR2:
Seeded confirmed in QR2
Braga
Midtjylland
Anderlecht
Lugano
Seeded if they win in QR1:
Shakhtar
Legia Warsaw
Sheriff
Partizan
Unseeded from QR1 who we could only face if they win against Shakhtar, Sheriff, Partizan or Warsaw in QR1:
Larnaca
Häcken
Paks
Levski Sofia
Sabah
Ilves
Aktobe
Prishtina
Sorry I’ve missed it, but happens if we win this and lose the 3rd qualifying round?
I’d say it’d be very difficult. At glance, they seem about on par with Lugano but with the benefit for us that Midtjylland would be seeded in QR3 unlike Lugano so it’s probably the preferable of the two since we would become seeded for QR3 by beating them. Probably the joint 4th hardest draw after Shakhtar, Braga and Anderlecht.
We would be playing them right at the start of their League which historically seems to benefit Scandinavian teams in the early stages of Europe, though they do start a lot later than the Swedish and Norwegian leagues so it’s less of a factor.
anyone tell me what time the draw is at on the 18th?
We are confirmed un-seeded in Europa League QR2. To be seeded in QR3 we would need to beat Shakhtar, Braga, Anderlecht or Midtjylland. All very tough task. In terms of being seeded should we drop to the Conference league, Wikipedia has the following.
If we drop to Conference league QR3 by loosing our very first tie:
Seeded:
“Loser of the tie involving Scotland Hibernian“
If we drop to the Conference league playoff round by winning our first tie, then losing our second:
Seeded:
“5 losers of the Europa League third qualifying round”
I have no idea what draw would result in us being one of those five teams but it sounds like it is possible.
As far I can tell, drawing to play against, and winning the easiest draw possible in QR2 (FC Sheriff?), then drawing to play against in QR3 one of the 5 teams that would make us seeded for the conference league playoffs should we loose, is our best path to group stage football.
When did that change? It was "confirmed" that the loser of the tie involving Hibernian would be unseeded in the CL QR 3 when I looked a couple of weeks ago. The wikipedia entry has now moved us/our Europa League opponents to the be confirmed column from the unseeded column.
Don't think this is quite right - if we were in the Europa Q3 when the conference play-off draw was made we would be unseeded no matter who we are playing. As UEFA assume the unseeded team will lose, so use their coefficient in the draw for the next round in the lower tiered competition.
I don't think that is correct, there are 13 unseeded teams with a higher coefficient than us. This website is far more accurate than Wikipedia when it comes to these things,
https://kassiesa.net/uefa/seedco2025.html
Yeah, the wiki pages for these European competitions change by the day. Us and other teams have switched between 'seeded / unconfirmed /unseeded' over the last couple of weeks.
Maybe closer to the draw they will be authentic, but as it stands no one knows really if the easier path to league stage football by Christmas is via the Europa or Conference League.
We could be drawn against Braga in the Europa League, get punted, then AZ Alkmaar in the Conference League and we will be out. Know this is negative but these would be a couple of good trips.
It will be clearer in two weeks time.
Has it been announced where Lugano & Shakhtar will be playing there home games?
FC Thun's ground for Lugano. I don't think Lugano's ground is UEFA compliant, looks like it will be in 2026 after some work. https://www.fclugano.com/thun-ospitera-lfc-lugano/
Shakhtar were playing last seasons European games at Schalke's stadium. There is an article indicating they'll be moving to Krakow for European games this season though.https://sportnews.az/en/football/sha...ches-in-poland
I think a lot could depend on when seasons start. If we are a week or two ahead of our opposition in terms of preparing for the season ahead, that could be a bit of a leveller as well. Same applies in reverse unfortunately too.
If you’re talking about a gulf as big as it was between us and Villa then it won’t make that much of a difference but if it’s a team comparable with the likes of rangers and Celtic then it’d give us a bit more of a chance.
Apparently shakhtar will play their home games in Poland , behind closed doors.
Dynamo Kyiv had fans at their “home” games last season as well (they played in Hamburg). Belarusian teams have been ordered to play behind closed doors due to Belarus’s support for Russia in the Ukraine conflict, so Hearts had no fans away to Dinamo Minsk.
Quite fancy the look of Lugano and always planned on making the trip to lake Como. Pity they don't play there in European games as would have been ideal excuse.
Apologies if this has already been said but looking at the teams in the QR1 draw, Partizan Belgrade and FC Prishtina will be kept apart in the pre draw groupings. Meaning the winners of both ties will then also be kept apart in our draw on Wednesday.
Might no mean much for us but be interesting to see who Prishtina get on Tuesday to at least then narrow down who one of the seeded teams will be in each grouping on Wednesday
Yeah I presume so here - https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/draws/
The club will also be notified and likely publish it on socials.

I think the draw for the round before us, is tomorrow, will that have any relevance to us and worth keeping an eye out for?
I feel like it does have some relevance and we should pay attention to it, I’m just not entirely sure why so was hoping someone more intelligent than me could join the dots for me please?
Bert Kassies is usually more accurate than the wiki
Seeding in the Europa League 2025/2026
It doesn't have a massive bearing imo.
out of the teams we could draw in Q2: Shakhtar, Legia, Partizan and Sheriff are all in this Q1 draw.
All 4 would be massive favourites against any of the Q1 teams, so whoever they get won't make a massive difference either way.
Of the unseeded Q1 teams the best are probably Hacken or AEK Larnaca, so if any of the mentioned seeded teams were drawn against them then Hibs would benefit if they caused an upset as we could end up playing one of them instead of Shakhtar or Legia etc.
Knowing our luck it'll be Hapoel Be'er Sheva.
Tbf they shouldn't be in the competition, but that's a conversation for another day.
So this is all the teams in the Q1 draw tomorrow. Could we not potentially get Cluj, Hapoel, Celje or Trnava (or their Q1 opponents) as well?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GtkDXpnX...name=4096x4096
So are we still thinking because of the unofficial regionalisation that we can only really get Anderlecht, Braga, Midjtylland or Lugano? Or is there now Cluj, Shaktar etc in the mix?
Sheriff to draw Larnaca, we play the winner. Larnaca upset Sheriff, Hibs away in Cyprus. Dancer.
reports that 1st round draw had no groupings appears not to be the case it does
UEFA Europa League first qualifying round draw | UEFA Europa League 2025/26 | UEFA.com
From the groupings, Hacken probably the only unseeded team from group 1 who might be tricky for Shakhtar/Sheriff, but any of the unseeded teams in group 2 could be a banana skin for Legia or Partizan.
Does anyone have any idea how they produce these groups? Azerbaijan and Finland in the same group?
“In accordance with the relevant decisions of the UEFA Executive Committee, teams from the following associations may not be drawn against each other:
Armenia – Azerbaijan
Gibraltar – Spain
Kosovo – Bosnia-Herzegovina
Kosovo – Serbia
Kosovo – Russia*
Ukraine – Russia*
Ukraine – Belarus”
Mainly to keep Partizan and Prishtina apart, not much else matters
Draw for QR1 is 1500hrs CET
Could we have a recap.
Obviously the Q1, and Q2 draw is tomorrow
We will find out our possible opponents, abiet, the winner of Q1, or just a seeded team in Q2.
Will the draw show who will be at home first.
I’m just a simple man, with simple tastes, a tenants lager drinker.
Please keep the answer as easy as possible .😃
Hibees goes at 12.24. Portman Park , virtual racing 7/1 .
Q1 draw today, Q2 (us) tomorrow.
UEFA will split the teams for our draw into 2 groups (4 seeds, 4 non-seeds in each) to avoid any political "these teams can't play each other" clashes, so we'll have it narrowed down to 4 before the draw.
Potential opponents are:
Winner of Shakhtar's Q1 tie.
Braga
Midtjylland
Winner of Legia Warsaw's Q1 tie
Anderlecht
Winner of Partizan Belgrade's Q1 tie
Winner of Sheriff Tiraspol's Q1 tie
Lugano
If it’s away first leg I can go. Away second leg, I’m on my holidays.

Anderlecht
Braga
Lugano
Midtylland
Legia/Aktobe
Partizan/Larnaca
Shakhtar/Tampere
Sheriff/Prishtina
All 8 seeded sides for tomorrow’s draw
According to the kassies website, the likes of Partizan, shaktar and Legia would also be seeded for the 3rd qualifying round.
Highly unlikely, but the ideal scenario would be us drawing one of them - but they lose their first qualifying round, so we play one of Aktobe, Larnaca or Tampere - little chance of this but one can dream
Do Sheriff play at home or are their ties moved aswell?
that would be obvious but no one knows how they work out groups, you have a team from Sweden playing a Slovak team
7.30am tomorrow and it will become a little clearer

Sheriff aren't projected to be seeded, as it stands. Would need a couple of seeds to go out in Q1 to bump them up.
Doesn't work like that. Groupings are to prevent any politically charged ties or same countries meeting. UEFA don't share the exact rules on groupings though.
They still play in their usual stadium/location, yes.
From a selfish perspective I'd like Warsaw.
Got a couple of mates there so would save on accommodation costs.

If we draw one of those sides in Q2, but they go out in Q1, then we don't get to steal their seed for Q3.
As the Q3 draw is made halfway through Q2, where they'd already be knocked out in this scenario, so we'd use whichever coefficient was higher out of ours or Aktobe, Larnaca etc. for the Q3 draw which would see us unseeded.
