A left back would be a waste of money. Stevenson, Mackie, James , Hanlon and Whittaker in that order can all play or cover there.

We're four players short if we want top 3 or 4 - absolutely no doubt about it. One thing we are lacking and one thing we need is searing pace up top. We don't have it. That's not based on tonight, just in general and always thought it. To have any ambition to finish higher than the last two seasons, beat the likes of Aberdeen and Hearts convincingly, we'll need to spend money.

Pace has been our Achilles heel got a while, Newcastle's pace when they attacked was different class to us.

Yep, however will our new owner allow this to happen. Said he wanted to be best of the rest. Let's see if it will happen and we show more ambition.

Well he said he was happy with the budget in place so you’re going to be disappointed if you expect more money to be handed over

Rome wasn’t built in a day, PH said he wants to build the squad over 2 or 3 transfer windows

Totally agree. Another striker is a must. Would be tempted to put Shaw on loan if we can get another one in

FWIW I think the Fraser Hornby thing was someone guessing as Everton have said he’s going out on loan and he’s a Scottish u21 player. Since then the rumour has grown arms and legs but I’m not convinced there’s anything in it.

I think we’ll be after a different kind of forward, someone fast that can play on the wings as well or a small penalty box striker to play off Doidge.

Having to now replace Boyle may mean cover for another position not being done. Hope not but suppose it depends on budget etc

Not saying I wouldn't take Naismith the player (can't stand him as an individual but a cracking player) but an odd use of budget surely?
Would give us superb depth in the striking positions with quite often 2 of Kamberi, Doidge and Naismith on the bench while leaving us light in other areas (Central midfielders and pacy wingers)
