Another plane crash yesterday, what are the American people waiting for before they realise the blob they voted for is just slavering a load of lies every time he opens his mouth.
Before I again put the boot in to 100% of Republican voters, I have generally considered that, say, 10% ( maybe fewer) of each party would be reasonably decent human beings and sensible voters, ie. centre right or centre left. Given the damning character and insanity of their elected representative, you could reasonably expect a high proportion of centre right Republicans would have the conviction to at least abstain from voting for a sexual predator, liar and convicted criminal. But, no, they didn’t. The conclusion has to be that each and every one of them is a lesser human being, lacking in human decency and moral conviction. Sorry for the random rant but I am more and more depressed daily by Trump’s total betrayal of his country and the blind acceptance by his sheep.
Trump plans on closing visitor centres in National Parks saying he wants to save American tax payers, as one comment points out it's cost multi-millions on security etc for his umpteen Golf Trips and a visit to the Superbowl in just three months Trump's plan to close park visitor centers sparks backlash
It's difficult to be optimistic about the character of Trump voters at the moment, but it is the case that a lot of them are hooked into an all-pervasive counter-narrative. In this world, the Republicans are the good guys and the Democrats are evil paedophiles who are kidnapping babies for their blood, along with other wild conspiracy theories. Also that they are communists who are coming for their money and their liberties... and that they will trash the economy because they're fiscally irresponsible... and also they want black people to outbreed white people so they can lock in a Democrat government for ever. This stuff is being blasted round the clock on TV / radio / podcasts. That's just the start of it, too.
The Republicans are presented by the right-wing media as being God-fearing, patriotic Americans who are rightfully standing up aginst invasion by rapey, homicidal, thieving immigrants. And despite the clear evidence that the economy fares better and adds less debt under Democrat rule, they're constantly being told the opposite.
As well as people who are taken in by the nonsense, there are a lot of people who know somewhere between very little and zero about what's going on - these exist everywhere, but it feels like there's a much bigger percentage of them here in the US? They'd be genuinely astonished to find out and probably wouldn't believe you if you told them. There are lots of people, apparently, who have no idea that Elon Musk is effectively running (wrecking) the government - or even who he is.
Equally harmful is the 'they're all as bad as each other' crew. Which is obviously - especially just now - wrong and dangerous. Nobody's perfect, but not every politician is as bad as the worst politicians or parties.
And there are people who would probably admit they don't care about anyone other than themselves, or that they have active animosity towards people who are different in some way, and that they believe they are being stolen from in taxes for people they think don't deserve it. Some are horrible / hypocritical /gullible. Some just lack curiosity about their world, or the ability to find out. I genuinely think that a lot of people who voted for Trump know little about him other than believing he was a successful businessman (...), because of the retrofit NBC did on his image for the Apprentice.
Unless something really big happens - and fast enough that people are able to connect it to the election of Trump - I don't see how it gets fixed. The population is living in completely separate information worlds: right wing / conspiracy; factual and mixed with a centre-leftish slant (by US standards), and low-information of any sort beyond screaming headlines (if that...)
I feel pretty miserable about it.
He's also talking about sourcing timber from federal woodland instead of Canada can only hope that's not related. The parks are really important to a number of red states. They're massively popular with tourists, and draw millions to rural parts of the US where people would otherwise have little need to go. As well as the NPS staff losing their jobs, there's loads of small towns and villages heavilly dependent on the money and jobs they bring in.
And obviously the tragic loss of a genuine jewel in America's crown, and something they're rightly proud of.
it's going to cost millions more on him improving his Golf swing Jo on X: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" / X
Tesla have sent an unsigned letter to the US government asking it to consider the consequences of tariffs and the potential harm to the automotive industry.
Interesting the letter was unsigned given everyone knows who would have to authorise it.
First cracks between Musk and Trump? Musk can’t be Trump’s best buddy and be chief of Tesla, it’s just incompatible you’d think

I think it would be very unwise of him to undermine presidential pardon power.

voters in Arkansas won't be happy with the cuts
(1) Chris Jones on X: "The Trump/Musk $1 billion USDA cuts will hurt families, schools, food banks, and local farmers across Arkansas. Just look at the numbers. The real question: Why hasn’t Gov. Sanders used her close personal relationship with President Trump to stand up for Arkansas? https://t.co/tAh7FlKAoK" / X

Good article about what makes Trump tick. Fully agree with the author's psychological assessment but disagree with his guess at how this is all going to play out.
