Maybe bring them back to Earth a little bit. A lot of Celtc fans already have the ribbons on all 3 domestic trophies and a CL knockout place in the bag.
Shown how absolutely bang average they are in the grand scheme of things tonight, and it was fantastic to behold.
Probably the most enjoyable match I've watched since 21/05/16
Sombre stuff in the post match TNT studio. Guests, Petrov and Mjalby probably prepped to discuss a great game, whether Celtic win or lose, but really didn’t expect it to turn into a morbid post mortem.
Celtc are the first British team to concede 5 goals in the first half of a game in a major European competition since Cwmbran Town in the 1997-98 Cup Winners' Cup.
Rodgers said a few years ago after a heavy defeat in Europe with Celtic he would not compromise on his principles. Against the European big boys you have to set up to nullify their strengths. Hate to say it The Rangers have been better at doing that in Europe.
Clearly they missed Kwon last night 😁
This is the issue, they can shout and scream about financial gulfs and league opposition all they want, they are paying £3m a year to a guy they love to call an elite manager who refuses to make it difficult for teams to break them down away from home due to his own vanity, the same team that played against st.Johnstone went away to Dortmund in the champs league, crazy should be getting hammered for it but all the talk will be about lowly Scottish football.
£30m worth of players barely had any impact at all, trusty, Bernardo, Engels, Idah his transfer record is brutal, he’s built a great spfl side if that’s the level of their ambitions.
Celtic and Rangers have to move to England now of forever be European minnows
Wonder if they'll take the same stick in the media as we did after Malmo? Or will they okay in the gulf in finances, no competition on Scotland bore fest and play into the old firm sense of self importance?
I'd love to see the back of them but is there even a semblance of an appetite in England for this to happen?
More beneficial overall would be a UK league. Sure, Hibs wouldn't be near to top flight but it would beat the monotony of playing the same old clubs four times (or more) every year.
Couldn't care less about Celtic, but they were playing a very good team last night.I work in Glasgow and Virtually all the Celtic fans I spoke to before the game expected to get beaten comfortably and they were. Don't get the gloating, if we'd been playing Dortmund it would've been double figures unfortunately.
If Scottish teams went into into UK league then most of our SPL teams would be in league 1/2...there's no appetite for that and would mean no European games. Teams from championship down would be playing at like national league level. The gulf in class between the the top 2 English leagues and ours is astronomical that a UK league is not feasible or worthwhile for Scottish teams.
The old firm should move down south and leave the rest of us to get on with it. Would mean a more competitive league and hopefully more investment. Literally everything in our game is geared towards them and it has killed it from grassroots level upwards. It would also be better for them as the extra revenue would mean they could probably start competing at a higher level again.
The original poster said last night was the most enjoyable game they'd seen since Hibs won the Scottish cup and the poster quite justifiably asked why.
There isnt a stranger type of Hibs fan than one who claims they enjoyed last night's Celtic defeat more than numerous Hibs wins over the last 8 years including ones over Hearts, Celtic, Rangers, Hampden wins and european victories.
An official UK league would/should never happen. It would mean the end of the 4 national teams that we are fortunate to have in the British isles. I would not be interested in watching Hibs play in League 1 against teams such as Rotherham, Mansfield etc and away trip to Exeter would hardly set the pulse racing. Our league has a lot of faults but it is OUR league.
