2017 A few months after Dundee United celebrated winning the Championship after defeating us 1-0 at Tannadice Hibs blow their arch rivals away with a fine 3-0 thumping at Easter Road

1987 HIBS and Hearts draw 2-2 in a pulsating Derby at Easter Road
https://thehiblog.wordpress.com/2017...-january-1987/
1973 John Brownlie breaks his leg and Mickey Edwards picks up a 10 game ban in a powder keg League game versus East Fife
1968 Hibs warm up for Leeds United at home by defeating Dundee United 3-0 at home
1912 Dan McMichael’s struggling HIBS team hammer Rangers 5-0 at home HIBS would finish 13th in this season Rangers would win the League
Sums Darren McCormack up that game. Hibs just score, right on top, and he hits the guy back and both down to 10. We win easily if he uses his brain and hits the deck.
The disgraceful thing about the Edwards booking against East Fife was that having been kicked up and down by Love with many fouls not given Alex managed to get free from a Love grapple but instead of playing advantage Syme blew for a foul. Edwards, exasperated, picked up the ball to show he’d got it and then threw it down. Booked.
Did Edwards really get a 10 game ban ? In those days I think bans were for a period of time rather than a set number of games.
I think it was against East Fife and he got a yellow card for protesting about being fouled for the umpteenth time. No doubt some Weegie ref worried about how well Hibs were playing and might upset the Uglies monopoly of the league.
Yes, although I too thought it was 8 games and the ban handed down to Pat Stanton was only slightly less severe. I think Pat got 6 games. In the meantime Jimmy Johnston and Alex McDonald, with similar or worse discipline records, were treated less severely that season by our non partisan SFA all IIRC
Pretty sure it was his fourth booking of the season. Of course in those days they took previous seasons into account. Eventually even the SFA realised the system was unfair and moved to number of games for suspensions and laid down sentences instead of making it up as they went along.

You reminded me there of that 0-3 Motherwell League Cup final defeat for the famous five team. That was a season when we won the league by 10 points and Motherwell finished 9th. Typical inexplicable Hibs result.
add in the aberdeen Scottish cup final and the lost league title on goal average to Rangers (and another one by a single point) and they should have won far more than they did

The 1965 game against Dundee Utd 3-4. I was there with my dad in our usual place in the enclosure. Dundee Utd in their strip at the time of all white and black trimmings.
My auld man was flabbergasted with Finn Dossing's boots. Whilst everyone was wearing the fashionable boot that were cut under the ankle line Dossing was wearing these big brown things that were like something you've seen from the fifties. Am I remembering that rightly ?
What I do seem to remember though was that out of all the Scandinavians that came to Utd and Morton , Dossing was one of the best.

You could not move in Edinburgh that day for "Celtic" fans.
Including those glory hunters that managed the bus fares !
Celtic of course were on route to their "nine in a row" and still a top European side.
They would contest the European Cup final the season after this.
The grassy knolls of London Road was filled early wae buckfast swilling hordes, who then descended down to the Holy Ground and used every turnstile to get into the ground.
Dead easy to corral the Cave, cos of the colours.
Huns would not have got away with that back then.
I know that for sure !!
The Celtic hordes did fill the whole ground that day ,though.
Hibs’ name was on the Cup as 2/5 favs

Bobby Duncan’s leg break happed more or less right infront of me and my brother, standing close to the centre line on the east terrace. It was nothing short of assault and there was a horrible crack as Hughes did the dirty. This was the first visit to Easter Road by what was a fantastic, European Cup winning, Celtic side. Their reputation was tarnished that day.
I remember we lost but until I read the article I hadn’t remembered the score.

First time I have seen this, great time to be a Hibs fan.
It sure was.
You notice the hill behind the main crowd on the film. Its not Arthur Seat !
Its hard core and rubble that had been transported in for the huge extension of the main terracing, which soon after would hold the clubs record attendance.(see linked article below)
The post war years saw a tremendous Hibs team on the rise and demand to see them was huge.
Hibs had thought of making the ground 70.000 capacity
Anyway, more on that time in this remarkable article.

Yes it is and quoted in the article i linked.
I think GB was referring to the attendance given for a previous or subsequent rAngers game his Dad attended.
1949 Nov.5th Home v rAngers 51,500.
1950 Jan.2nd Home v Hertz 65,840.
Final game of the season at ibrox finished 0-0 .Attendance 115.000.
We finished second in the league that season beaten by 1 pt to the Hun.
We would win League title the following season*.The year of my birth :greengrin
The lowest crowd at ER that season.
.4.000 v Plastic Whistle. ??
Cannot explain that one against Thistle.
Must have been power cuts or transport strikes or something going on that day.
Strange one.
We had played them a few weeks earlier at ER in League Cup quarter final leg, played in front of 35.000.
Average home attendance that season 27,823
* gbhibby
In season 1951-52
The home attendance v The Hun was given as 55.000:aok:
If you look at the attendances in the immediate post war years, our main rivals were rAngers.
Quick glance at attendances for that period shows that as many Hun as jambos would descend on the Holy Ground for respective fixtures.
I mentioned in an earlier post about huge Celtic crowds at ER.
That applied also to Hun of course, when they were doing well.
Of course, in the post war years ,transport was different.
Not many cars
But trains by the dozen ran right alongside our ground back then for such games.
They came through in their hordes by train, coach and horse driven carts !!
Trams too !!

Not longed moved to Singapore. It is Chinese New Year's Eve. I meet a beautiful and spend the day with her. In evening I settle down to watch the game. At 2-0 I get into my pajamas. First we get a goal back. Watching on Hibs TV, Hibs get a corner. A text flashes in from a friend. I know what is coming. Clothes on I head for the corner bar and get very drunk much to the amusement of the locals, seeing in Chinese New Year singing Hibs songs.
