It could be and is probably just the assumption that if Hibs do manage to sign him this summer the fee will be a record breaking fee for Hibs.

Ohh...never saw that.
The guy that feeds this stuff to me can be a bit speculative. Out of all the stuff he has said over the years only a couple of them came to fruition. Nisbet from Dunfermline & Levitt from Dundee Utd are good examples.
Maybe there is something in this as Hibs Obsever does appear to be a bit like a mouthpiece for the club at times.
Aye, just read that too about the 1st June window.
“This applies only to the 20 national associations with clubs playing in the competition”
So our window will be;
“Monday 16 June and closing on Monday 1 September at 19:00 BST, a slightly earlier time than the traditional 23:00 BST close that has been used.”
Though with Sunderland now being a Premier League club maybe that would change things?
In David / Malky ,I trust.
I would be happy for us to spend most of our transfer budget on Triantis if that would be the case, every player has bad games, thought he was really good for the majority of the season and looked better than the season before.
I don't see why his performances would drop if he was to come back, 4 year deal with a plan to make some good money on him in the future.
I'm guessing the Hoilett will be down to family and would love Rocky to sign the deal ASAP.
I suppose that’s a possibility in I’d imagine we will be facing some really stiff competition for Triantis and you’re talking about a million quid to get him , Simons is rated at €700k on transmarkt and again I think there’s other clubs interested in him going by reports . I can’t see us taking two at the money it would take to get them , plus the fact that Newell could play that role too .
How can we realistically afford Triantis? Surely Sunderland will be wanting north of a million.
Plenty of ways hibs can dress it up
Targets being reached: top 4 finish - pay hull extra cash
Win a cup: pay hull cash
Sell of fee: 20% of sale back to hull for example
I think a max bid hibs would do is £1 million maybe with a few of the above chucked in also, IF we go for it
Maybe things have changed though we did try and get McCowan for a million . I think we will try for Triantis though wither Sunderland are willing to let him go for what we can pay , will their be other clubs interested that he might feel are a better opportunity for him .. who knows.
Seen Hibs have been linked with Zach Mitchell, looked decent in a struggling team last season.
After having a look on the Sunderland forum and seen this thread , guessing because he pulled out of the Aussie squad or something more in it ? 🤔…

I’ve been wrong many times, but I can’t see Triantis signing for us any time soon for a number of reasons.
The most obvious is cost…..Sunderland, like any club, will want as much as they can get for him, and a championship club would easily outbid us, not to mention overseas clubs.
Also, Sunderland has a newish manager, and it would seem prudent they get him in for pre season training and a couple of friendlies to gauge his current worth before just offloading him.
Last but not least…given the choice in playing in the EPL or even the Championship would pay him a lot more than we could pay, and these leagues are seen by most neutral commentators…and certainly here in Oz as being further up the ladder than the SPFL.
Most Oz players who come to the SPFL are sold on it being a ‘pathway’ to the English leagues, and despite his enjoyable time at Hibs, I think there is an inner desire to play at what he would see as a higher level.
I don’t think it’s out of the question.
It was clearly Grays favoured formation when he came in. He may view 3-5-2 as nothing more than a means to an end and attempt to get back to what he prefers this summer. He may also of course decide if it’s not broken don’t fix it.
I definitely don’t think we can rule it out though.
A lot of the games we either lost or drew was down to silly basic errors like red cards or mistakes at the back, Gray moved to a 352 because it suited the players but also it stabilised the defence, also remember it was this time we changed keeper. 4231 I don't think suits Nicky Cadden as he's not really an out and out winger, more of a wide midfielder/wingback and also with this system you need a proper DM, which we don't really have, our midfielders are generally playmakers or box2box type, I can see him staying with 352, if it's not broken don't change it.
Good point re Sunderlands new manager.
On the cost front, we probably could offer Sunderland an acceptable fee for him. If Nectar wants to sign for us - not necessarily leave Sunderland, only for us - then what other clubs offer for him is by and large not really relevant.
For Triantis, yes he could go to another Championship club but he won't get the chance to play in Europe if he does that, as it stands he's got the chance to sign for us and play 4 European games as a minimum.
I think if all parties are willing we could come to an acceptable agreement for Nectar to come back to Hibs, Sunderland to get a decent sell on fee and Nectar to showcase his talents and follow the John McGinn route to the EPL. Sunderland are already in the EPL, but they are going to have to bring in better players than Nectar to stay there. As good as he's been this season there's no way he's starting PL 11 quality yet.
Nectar has another couple years on his deal at Sunderland? They could just decide to loan him out again.
One more year to develop as a midfielder and possibly play for them when they likely go back down next term.
Hearts interested in 29 year old Falkirk midfielder Brad Spencer

Can we get Keelan Adams
See tbf, the couple of times I’ve watched Bradley Spencer I thought he was a really good player and too good for the level.
Searched him and realised he’s 29 and never played higher than Championship.
Nowt wrong with signing him, but the whole ‘Identified by JTA’ is mental 🤣
They’re really identifying incredible unknown players this lot

Clearly the bookies have bought into these jambo analytics.
Motherwell sign Jordan McGhee
Can see us liking Zach Mitchell tbf.
He's really highly rated at Charlton and done well at St Johnstone by all accounts, think they kept a decent amount of clean sheets after he joined.
Think he’d play right of a back 3 so would be interesting what happens with Miller potentially leaving and who else we’d like for that position - Porteous for example

Rocky been made a significant offer and will make his decision on return from international duty
They must have the Windows 95 compatible version of Starlizard
Likewise
Unfortunately if championship teams are actually interested, I can’t see him staying.
It will be interesting to see how long he is willing to wait. There might be interest from championship clubs or abroad, but he might be the 2nd/3rd option if they don’t get their main target
It's a short career so I wouldn't begrudge him a move there. That said, he's had a good 6 months and staying with Hibs might be the best option for his career. A three year deal would take him into his prime, and from a Hibs point of view he's a very sellable asset if he continues his form for another season.
Bolton lead race for Sam Dalby as Dundee United offer dwarfed by English League One clubs

The average League One football player's weekly salary is around £7,000, with the top 100 earners earning that amount on average. While specific average salaries aren't as readily available for League One compared to higher leagues, this figure indicates a substantial income for players in the third tier of English football.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Top earners: The top 100 earners in League One average around £7,000 per week.
Number of high earners: In 2023-24, 52 League One players earned £6,000 or more per week, according to Salary Sport.
High earnings compared to UK average: These earnings, which can exceed £300,000 annually, are significantly higher than the average UK salary, according to William Hill News.
I see Liam Henderson, Egan-Riley and Fletcher are all out of contract, I think the 3 of them would improve our squad especially Fletcher ie Dwight Gayle type roll, not starting every week, great experience for our league and Europe. Just a thought
Having read it, to be fair it was only two or three who showed the usual knee jerk disrespect to us and the league we play in.
Saying it's a huge jump from the championship to the EPL, never mind from the Scot Prem to the EPL isn't an unreasonable statement.
Saying Hibs would offer peanuts for Nectar, in the context of the market Sunderland now find themselves in, isn't that insulting ... in EPL terms a million quid, which would certainly be our max offer, is peanuts.
For the most part they were saying if he made the Scottish Premiership team of the year it would at least be worth holding on to him, even if it meant another loan to the English championship to see if his undoubted progress could be replicated in that league. Not an unreasonable take on things.
The fact is Sunderland, and their fans, have far bigger things to worry about than the merits of a player they had on loan to the Scottish premiership .............. In short, putting together a team strong enough to go to St James's park and not get an absolute pasting, never mind one that can avoid relegation from a league where that's swiftly becoming the norm for promoted teams :greengrin
I think Sunderland getting promoted increases our chances of signing him. He's never going to get in the Sunderland team in the EPL. In the championship he'd have had a chance.
Dundee got Elvis
By Christmas it will be "Elvis has left the building"
I can't see Triantis pulling out the Australian squad due to having"things on his mind", if that thing is coming back to the team he has spent the last two seasons with.
Think he must be considering new opportunities IMO.
Surprisingly it doesn't take that many bets for a price to tumble. Reckon a few weeks ago the Yam were around the same price as us and Aberdeen.
Guy I know in the betting industry advised it may take only around 20 decent sized bets for a price to reduce like this.
Wouldn't think there would be many more bets on a price like this. It's more than likely the price will increase in the next few weeks. Odds can vary wildly over different bookies. Our odds are as low as 40-1 with Betvictor which is nuts.
20 minutes or so.

Hibs edging closer to Xavier Simons deal as capital club make six-figure bid for Hull City ace | @ScottBurns75

The Miller one is strange. Him making absolutely no comment around his one year contract extension in the announcement,
or since was so odd.
It did make it look like it was a forced extension, rather than something he was happy with. Hopefully just bad comms, as I like Miller a lot.
Sounds like Hull fans would quite like him to stay.
I think Hibs will be/are still pursuing Triantis regardless of Simons. Probably NMW moving on I’d assume.
Newell is 33 this season as well. It's not "old" but we will hopefully have a lot of games to navigate so we will need good squad depth.
Beginning to wonder if there is any point having development sides in Scotland. Lets face no one can keep a hold of their best young players
QPR sign Aberdeen kid Timothy Akindileni for undisclosed fee as Pittodrie chiefs lose battle to keep starlet
The clips I’ve seen of Simons on his Instagram makes him seem extremely similar to Triantis
