I doubt the night could have gone much better for Harris. She looked nervous first couple of minutes but once she got going she absolutely smashed it.
It won’t move polls much but surely any movement at all is towards her.

I thought Trump looked a bit like Biden in the first debate last night.

He was all over the place. Rambling about his own obsessions and failing to push home the areas in which Harris was weaker. He was flustered and outright lied when pressed on abortion and the support for the repeal of Roe vs Wade and that is an area he already polls poorly in.

Harris and Walz have a huge advantage just by being fairly normal people whilst Trump is a total weirdo and vain, obsessive and childlike with it. If the option of another debate is on the table then Harris should do it, the more you let Trump speak the weaker he becomes.

In terms of the concerns of sections of the US public then immigration and the economy. That's the areas he can win on and he failed miserably to drive home any advantage last night. He also could have had her on the ropes regarding her perceived flip flopping on fracking and other energy concerns but that's when he got all upset that she all but accused him of being a nepo baby (which he is) and seemed to forget the issue being discussed altogether.

2% average isn't booming it's pretty average for the last 50 years. The problem was massive inflation in that time above 8% for a lot of it and now sitting at 2.9%. Because of this wages adjusted for inflation has plummeted, so people feel poorer. Wages adjusted for inflation grew all the way through Trumps presidency and have dropped a dollar an hour under Biden. Biden wasn't to blame for that inflation it was world events but Trump should have used that and immigration instead of people eating cats

You're preaching to the converted (well not really because I don't much like Biden's economic policies either but as a lesser of two evils and all that).

The point isn't about the perception of you or I. It's about the areas in which Trump is seen as more attractive and/or is polling better among those who actually have a vote and one of those areas is the economy.
