Why did we sign him on such a short contract?

Beaumont played 80 times for the club before leaving to join the Police, so he played a reasonable amount of games.
He won a League Cup medal without having kicked a ball for the club yet after being an unused sub in the final.
His first goal came against Anderlecht at Easter Road.
Dunno absolutely nuts from the ginger Hun but let’s enjoy this again

Humphrey Rudge. Outstanding in the "you're not unbeatable" derby. No memory of him whatsoever besides that match. And what a name...
Henri Anier must have player about 25 minutes of football for us in the first half of 2015/16 but I remember him setting up two important goals that kept the title hunt alive then was sent back.
He was on triall or naybe 3 month contract. He was still recovering from a (knee?) injury. Putting him on a long contract was a risk. When he destroyed Dundee we tried to sign him but Celtic had already waved their knickers.

Dwight Gayle.
For the limited amount of time he's been on the park, he's had an incredible impact.
As a team I think Turnbull's Tornadoes didn't play an awful lot of games together as the full team, maybe 30-40 due to injuries and suspension, Joe Harper signing and ET making changes. Is there anyone that can confirm that one way or other.
A wee bit less than I thought but I knew it wasn't Sure Jim Herriot got dropped after the Hadjuk Split game and they never collectively started a match again.
What an impact they made though. Over 50 years later and we still talk about them. I was so lucky to grow up with them on the park.
Lyndon Andrews. Came on as sub early in the 6-2 game for one of his few appearances.
Nikklas Gunnarson perhaps falls into an underrated category. He came on as a sub. Looked the part against huns when he scored into the in a game we beat the league 3-2 at easter road.
Liam Henderson deserves a mention
"Henderson to deliveeeeer"
Jonathan Spector
Grant Holt was great for us in that 1 season in Championship. Derby goal too.
Kenny Dalglish against Aston Villa . Laid on all Keith Wrights 4 goals in the Alan Sneddon testimonial game
All for a white pudding supper and boatil of American Cream Soda

From a personal point of view growing up as a schoolboy in the sixties I was totally devastated when Colin Colin Stein left us to join the dark side for the then Queen’s ransom of £100k
I need not have worried we signed Joe McBride Snr a natural goalscorer from Celtic who made us forget all about Stein scoring a hat-trick against Lokomotiv Leipzig in his home debut and scoring all types of goals for us but was always in the right place at the right time with a true strikers instinct and could also score goals out of nothing the highlight being a half volley on the edge of the box against Celtic at ER in a 2-0 win after previously opening the scoring
He would go on to score 58:91 and left when he refused Tom Hart’s request to relocate to Edinburgh from Glasgow
