We're in for our anniversary this weekend - going to Six By Nico (and we've also just been offered a table at Somewhere by Nico afterwards) on Friday evening, then we're heading to Baba after the rugby on Saturday evening. Really looking forward to both!

Six By Nico last night was nice. Some excellent dishes and wine pairings. Somewhere by Nico was equally impressive: some lovely cocktails. Currently sat outside Mother Superior on the Walk with a pint of Guinness too. Edinburgh treating us well this weekend!
Dean Banks at the Pompadour on Wednesday, the food was excellent, recently at Martin Wishart and the food at the Pomp was better. The only downside was we were the only table for the majority of our time there, we had the tasting menu with matching wines which I can’t fault but the atmosphere of an empty restaurant is not ideal. The Pompadour has always suffered from not having an on street presence/entrance but it’s a superb dining room which is listed. My good friend and I meet up quarterly for a fine dining experience, this was up there with our favourite so far for the food.
Anyone been to the Makars Rest The Mound the #1 Restaurant in the UK and the 9th in the World ?

I've always thought it seemed a bit of an odd concept for a restaurant. Having mashed potato as the dominant selling point has obviously worked for them but I can't say it's ever been somewhere I've been tempted to try.Quote:
