This week been listening a lot to Oceanics "Choral Feeling" album. This wee clip gives an explanation. Basically 16 people voices heavily deconstructed & distorted into something quite wonderful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHDmWtucQRY
Spotify goosed at work so back to 20th Century tech.

No scoobie.
But I do like a bit of Baxter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyILwv1KBT4
For a long time, I think he tried not to be his old man. But, once he realised he couldn't outrun genetics, he seemed to be much more comfortable with what he does.
It's a similar formula to Ian. Mix an "uncultured" voice with a band that is a million miles away from that. Worked for Dad, and I think it works for the (51 year old ) boy.
As an aside, I saw the Blockheads last year at the Voodoo Rooms. So good. :not worth
He did, and I saw him with Wilko too :agree:
The band were virtually the same as back in the day. They tour a lot, so keep an eye out. Glad to see they're making something out of it, especially as the story seems to be that Dury wasn't very good to them, financially.
Edit....La Belle Angele, St Lukes and the Lemon Tree next March.
Just noticed RadioGarden has blocked non UK stations. Someone on here recommended that app a while back and its very useful as well as being an eye-opener given the world wide coverage it had. VPN required.

I dug away at this band as the novelty subject matter piqued my interest while the cheesy disco didn't. I like my disco sans cheese.
Came across this live set which is different animal altogether.

Today was mostly spent listening to Leatherface after reading the sad news of their original drummer Andy Laing having passed away on Tuesday.
They were a big favourite of John Peel and did a good few sessions for him. Kicked off today with my all time favourite album "Mush" and worked my way through a fair chunk of their albums.

Beaster by Sugar , released 30 years ago today and still sounding fresh.

Mush is a brilliant album. Much underrated as was Dickie Hammond, whose guitar playing is superb on that LP.
[QUOTE=NORTHERNHIBBY;7320507]Yeah, dickie was an exceptional guitarist. His style seemed to perfectly compliment Frankie Stubbs guitar as well.
Always felt that with better production Minx would be up there as well, shame it's never been remastered.
Although Andy Laing wasn't with them for the stormy petrel that is another incredible album.
Dickie was excellent in HDQ and Dr Bison as well, worth checking out if you haven't already heard them.
Probably listen to stuff most of you aren't into though at the minute I'm listening to Irish band Aslan .

Ziggy Stardub - East All Stars.
Ska/Reggae/Rocksteady cover of the whole Ziggy Stardust album.
Sounds like it could have been produced in the 70's but is just out. Strangely new and old at the same time. Really, really works though, great album.

Picked up a Carter USM - 30 something and The Donna's - the early singles at weekend on record store Day. Both had some heavy play since.
Also been listening a lot to the Queers this week. Grow Up, Love songs for the ******ed, Move back home, Pleasant Screams and Dont back down all been on the past couple of days.
I'll give that one a try.
If you like odd combos then Bobby Ramone - Rocket to Kingston is worth a listen. Its a that bizarre it actually works.

As Days Get Dark , Arab Strap. Their career best album for me.
Stiff Richards - state of mind. Yet another great Aussie punk record, from 2020.
Not sure what's going on in Oz but the amount of superb punk bands churning out stuff over there just now is incredible. As well as the more well known ones like amyl and the sniffers and the chats there are numerous others like Civic, Alien Nosejob, R.M.F.C, Sick Thoughts, Tropical ****** storm, Gee Tee, Jackson Reid Briggs & the heaters....and plenty more.
