I’d be surprised if we won it from looking at their record.
They’ll be strong favourites. Not an impossible task but it’ll take a huge effort and a lot of luck I reckon.
Qualifying for a group stage would be game-changing for us but looking at Rijeka and the round beyond, the quality we would have to get past to get there shows how tough it is to reach the group stage in any of these UEFA competitions. On the other hand, clubs of equivalent stature to us (or lower) seem to qualify pretty regularly so it's clearly not impossible. I guess the first step is putting yourself in the position every year and fingers crossed one day the stars align.
So if we don’t get through this next round do we drop down to the Europa Conference group stage immediately?
They beat Wolfsburg pre season friendly 3-1, a better guide will be when they play Dinamo Zagreb on the 1st of August. They are a good side and comments such as "we will pump them" show a complete disregard of their quality.
Got to be said the place Rijeka looks a beautiful place. Would have been a fantastic trip.

The results in this link give you an idea of their quality. They beat Dinamo twice in 2020 but also lost heavily in the league to them. They will be clear favourites looking at their European pedigree.

In 2018 they had 1 player, Filip Bradaric, in Croatia's World Cup squad. They didn't have any players at 2021 Euros.
A lot will depend on us still having our key players particularly Martin Boyle.
I thought Aberdeen would struggle last night, and they proved us very wrong. Barring a major collapse in Andorra, I wouldn’t write off our chances.
Being a huge pessimist I never gave us much of a chance against Asteras. How wrong I was.
It's not beyond us but if I was being realistic I don't think we'll go any further.
Also had wins in the group stages over AC Milan, Austria Vienna, Feyenoord, Standard Liege and AZ Alkmaar. Drew 2-2 with a Sevilla team who went on to win the competition.
A club who have far more European experience than we have in recent years. A tough match indeed.
Gutted we won’t have an official allocation and that sitting in the home end sounds very much a no-go after a bit research. Quite easy to get there via London. Looks like some place which would have meant it would have been some trip :boo hoo:
Yep it’ll be tough but I definitely think we are far better as the underdog and when teams come at us. Our ability to break so quickly is our biggest asset.
Reckon 3-5-2 against them may be the way to go. We look fatr more secure with 3 especially when Daz sits in the middle just behind the other 2

I don’t know about better but we’re more defensively solid and for European games I suspect that’ll stand us in better stead.
Being an open attacking team would leave gaps that are quite easily exploited by better teams.
I don’t mean that in a negative way about this side, it’s just how I see us now.
There’s no away goals this year either is there?
