The very same pundits who were slavering about identity and patterns of play being good are now talking as if they knew it was doomed all along.

Is it time for Robbie Replay to make another return? 😂
Jamestown Analytics will be recommending Arne Slot?
They’ve pressed the panic button. They could have just dispensed with someone who’d be pretty decent for them next season in the likelihood that they avoid any catastrophe’s in closing games.

I think they will go for the tried n tested this time and appoint Stuart Baxter
Critchley 100% suffered from us having the season we’re having. If we were toiling in the bottom six with them then they’d be happy enough to write off the season as damage limitation after Naismith’s hilarious start to the season.
Critchley was nearly there with them, points per game was decent enough and over the season I think he’d have had them top six, their xG stats put them top three the last time I checked - similar to early season SDG.
He was also brilliant in the derbies, just not for Hearts.
season ticket desperation move... rumours of 'donations' falling as the believers' stop believing and incoming fight to avoid the plughole that is play off
That’s not strictly true as the Gordon family paid the shortfall taking responsibility for mistakes which led to that loss. Also you have to remember hearts have been consistantly getting that European money (coz they are a super big big club) and getting the extra FOH cash and the Ben E Factor cash every year for however long that’s been.
So if true (which I doubt) they would in my mind at least be much worse off than us.
Yes Stewart who was unbelievably praising him in i think the Hedenheim game about identity clear patterns creating chances etc seems to have done a 360 about signings having no pace wide etc yet the set up they had in the semi final had pace wide in Wilson and Kabangu with Penrice and Forrester supporting which to sounds like pace wide. He seems to like to highlight Kartum signing as being some major issue. One thing is for sure Mikey is never wrong and reserves the right to do a 360 at any point.
Bring back Cathro
If you want a chuckle

"Is this Hearts best squad since 2005"
https://www.hmfckickback.co.uk/index...ad-since-0506/
The Yo Yo club raise idiocy to an art form
Their squad is dug meat. They put too much responsibility on Wilson's shoulders, and he couldn't make up for the poor return from international class passenger Shankland.
I think Critch got about as much as he could out of them given those circumstances.
Stand back and wait for the delusions of grandeur, hilariously out of reach Managers suggested for the short list. Mind they all thought they should go for Davie Moyes last time.
As others have said, Critchley suffered the Hibs factor. He hasn't exactly set the heather on fire but 4th since he came in isn't that bad. They never factored Hibs going on the unbeaten run and having the upper hand in derbies and going for 3rd/europe. Hertz simply can't handle the hibees pumping them. If we were bottom 6 beside them Critchley would probably still be in a job. So it's actually SDGs fault.

🤣🤣🤣
Once Wee Barry gets punted from Castle Greyskull ,will he be favourite for the job ?
Hopefully not Robinson. Let's hope the Commodore 64 selects another diddy.
As long as we keep going on unbeaten runs, they'll continue to sack managers. It is and always has been all about us.
In fairness its no wonder their computer doesnt function properly, just like their hotel it doesn't have Windows.
Please oh please I'd love for them to outdo themselves and stick Steven Pressley in charge.
There is a guy who optimised their overall turncoat mentality. Wouldn't it be a sight to behold him banging his hand off the table in press conferences "the reason I'm banging my hand off this table is because.....".
I do love a managers market 😁
Odds on next Hearts manager
John McGlynn - 100/30*
Des Buckingham -*4/1
Robbie Neilson - 9/2
Ian Evatt - 5/1
Kim Hellberg - 11/2
Liam Fox - 15/2
Rob Edwards - 8/1
Nigel Pearson - 10/1
Derek McInnes - 12/1
Barry Ferguson - 15/1
Wayne Rooney - 20/1
Wayne Rooney for me, with all his car crash attempts at being a manager though I can't see their bingo ball machine spinning out his name though.

“I am pretty confident Shankland, Dhanda, Vargas and Spittal can really hurt most teams in the league. Really hurt them.”
Ouch.
Bring back the guy who was sacked cause he couldn't win a derby last time to replace the guy who was sacked cause he couldn't win a derby

I strongly suspect it’ll be none of the above. Wouldn’t be too worried if it was though.
Ian Evatt seems decent. Kim Hellberg a bit of a wildcard. McGlynn or McInnes probably more the types to get them up for Derbys but I’m not sure hearts will go for either, or that the pair would fancy it even if hearts wanted them.
Rooney or Ferguson just hilarious.
I'm thinking they'll go for a 'proper' Hearts man next time around. A Paul Hartley type, or John McGlynn.
Whoever it is, they always seem to end up with someone that, from my point of view, suits them perfectly.
Cathro, Neilson, Naismith, Critchley.... none of them have any kind of personality, character, or aura about them. Or an identity. They're just so meh at best, weird at worst.
With Fox seeing out the season, and the new guy unlikely to be in post until the transfer window is open, they could really struggle to sort out their squad this summer.
I wonder if they've ever had a high place finish without winning a derby. It's a fixture which tends to prop them up hugely (even when they're bang average) due to our frustratingly grim record in the fixture overall. On the occasions we take a grip of the derby they tend to flounder.
BBC Sport's Scotland's Brian McLauchlin, who covers Hearts every week
Been raised in the Sportsound thread but this is causing me irrational rage.
Why should the national broadcaster have a dedicated reporter for a provincial* club?!?
*Andy Walker picked up a dictionary once....
Sacking is sheer panic now that the playoffs become a real possibility. They'll either get a bounce or completely fall apart.
Popcorn at the ready.
Interesting if they go for Cowie and what would make him anymore a candidate than Critchley was arguably less given his Ross County record is pretty poor. Also given Hearts are playing County could be nonsense and a desperate attempt to distract County before the game.
Just seen the Sky report about their annual awards ceremony at the EICC. The players faces when they weee asked about relegation and Critchley. Priceless.
Brilliant. Budge saying it’s yesterday’s news.
I really want her and McKinley to remain in charge of them.
A total mess of a football club. Hilarious viewing

If they lose at Dingwall ***** will be seriously twitching down Gorgie way.
That looks like a club ill equipped to face the last few games to secure their top flight status.
Will be up against seasoned bottom six battlers who know how important the next few games are and their previous experience can serve them well. Hearts look like they’re in end of season mode already.
Sleep walking towards a third relegation in 11 years.
I'm seeing the press speculating around the likes of Mcglynn, Pressley and Neilson. So much for Jamestown's wonderful Analytics.
I did read this comment in the EEN:
Hearts' partnership with Jamestown Analytics means that every head coach appointed is first scrutinised by its data system and, among the criteria candidates must adhere to, every team boss must be on board with using it for player recruitment or they will not get the job.
So a "head" coach with no authority at all! Not allowed to input into player recruitment plus other restrictions as well. No doubt the yams will tell everyone it's what big clubs do. :greengrin
Moment of the year is…

Rumoured to be releasing a DVD for Christmas 😂😂😂
Not as easy as that. Bear in mind the derby would have been their cup final, they would have rested players and gone all guns blazing in that game. It defines their season and how their managers are viewed above all else. Gutted SDG never got to improve his record against time though :not worth
From the Evening News:
'Hearts' partnership with Jamestown Analytics means that every head coach appointed is first scrutinised by its data system and, among the criteria candidates must adhere to, every team boss must be on board with using it for player recruitment or they will not get the job.'
It's a process which is proving worth its weight in gold so far. Glad to hear they're sticking with it.
Also loving this from the Record:
'Former Heart of Midlothian captain Steven Pressley would be willing to leave his role as Brentford's head of individual development to help his old club, who have dismissed head coach Neil Critchley, steer clear of relegation trouble.'
Martindale could be an ideal fit for Hearts. His football is of the style that traditionally serves Hearts well. They tried a more aesthetic style of play with Critchley but the fans don’t have the patience for it, or to at least see the long game and rewards that may have come next season had they secured top flight status and saw a summer window with more footballing incomings.
Instead, it’s just simply the long game itself. It suits Hearts, it’s what the fans know and are comfortable with and they’ll put up with anything provided someone can bundle in a goal or a deflection for a 1-0 win.
One or two jambos over the road are saying they hope the League Managers Association reports Budge for her remarks, given that 2 people have just lost their jobs and when asked about it (as the employer in question) she just said "yesterdays news"
It doesn't feel very respectful or classy, I'd have to agree
Wins for Ross County, Killie and Dundee on Saturday would make things a wee bit interesting.
Mental opinion that. Why would you take a guy who has proven that he lacks the professionalism to even do the basics, ie no be a fat ****
And we now have him smirking like a wee laddie getting in trouble, he’s meant to be their captain and leader. And you say you want him here!! 😂😂
Penrice would maybe get on our bench, other than that we’re stronger than they tramps all over the park. Long may it continue.
My opinion is he would score a barrel load playing upfront on a 2 and not being a 10 or wide or whatever else hearts were trying to do with him
He does the basics - even during a poor goal scoring season any defender will tell you he's a pain to play against
