Looking at a realistic but by no means optimistic turn of events, the pressure on all teams here might mean a relatively small amount of points claim third.
Dundee United lose against Celtic
Hibs take two points from the first two games and lose at Parkhead.
St Mirren aren't there to simply lose five games, so you'd imagine they will pick up some amount of points against Hibs, Aberdeen or Dundee United. As long as we're not the only club to lose three points to them, a draw can be acceptable.
The big benefit here would be a draw in the Dundee United-Aberdeen final round - I'd imagine if Hibs continue to be hard to beat (not even necessarily winning) then three points against Rangers would likely be enough.
Or we just rattle everyone in sight. Winning in Aberdeen could well be enough in itself.
Would love to see us end the season with a home win v Rangers. It's been too long.
Exciting that our 2nd place finish will come down to the final day of the season
I know that’s highly unlikely , but can you imagine IF rangers loose the first 4 games , we win 3 and draw with Celtic …………..
Highly unlikely , but mathematically possible !

So we end up with 18 home games and 20 away games?
Indeed
I would go so far as to say win at Pittodrie and it's done.
Aberdeen would be effectively 7 points off us (factoring in GD) you suspect Utd would be the same (after losing to Celtic)
They play each other, Aberdeen have both the OF to play and Utd still have Rangers.
We could draw against both Utd and Aberdeen, in fact, and retain all the advantages, thanks to GD
But yeah a win at Pittodrie seals it for me
Quite happy with that. Gives us a real chance to get the job done early. Avoided Celtic when they’re looking to win the league or get the trophy. St Mirren and Rangers hopefully in holiday mode by the time we face them.
As I've said above I feel avoiding defeat to Aberdeen will be the key in all fixtures coming up.
How they get on at the weekend in the Semi will have a massive impact on the result against us I feel as well possibly.
Not one Hibs game being shown on SKY. Huge battle for third and they have picked none of the games. Also not bothered with a bottom 6 game which is crazy considering how many teams are still involved.
I think I read somewhere they've retained two choices for the final two match weeks - they'd have to pick a bottom six Sunday game for instance, but don't know where best to place it yet.
Still, you're right, what an absolutely stinking TV deal where not one of the Hibs-Aberdeen/United fixtures are televised.
A draw would be fine away to Aberdeen. A win would be incredible especially if Celtic beat Dundee United.

More than happy with how the fixtures have worked out. Think we play Rangers and Celtic at good times in the split and while we have a 3pt lead over United and Aberdeen get them out the way early.
My final points total guess based on the fixture list is:
Hibs 59
Dundee United 57
Aberdeen 54
That seems like an excellent result tbh?
A win at pittodrie pretty much seals it imo, but a draw is ok. And even a loss would be a blow but given our goal difference it means we only have to match them after that to get over the line.
Pleasantly surprised by how things have fallen.
Beat Dundee United at home plus avoiding defeat to Aberdeen and St Mirren will be enough for 3rd in my opinion. We would likely be 3 points ahead of 4th with a healthy goal difference going into the final game.
Delighted with that. I was worried I would be working for a few of them but asked to photograph the Dons game, should be able to get back for Utd game in time and then free for the others. Great result for Hibs and me.
Good that we’re playing Celtic after they will have the league wrapped up. Certainly improves our chances of getting something.
The BBC have us and Motherwell down as ending up with 20 away games and 18 home, can't find the split online to confirm this but reading above that is wrong?
Happy with that... what a potential prize.
Beat the Dons and create a record 18 unbeaten and with Untd likely beaten By Celtic looking to close out a title party pretty much wrap up 3rd
It's wrong, for us at least.
Here is the current table, split between home and away.
https://spfl.co.uk/league/premiership/table
Cheers, I couldn't find one online, but assumed it was wrong as we still had Tynecastle to go to, if they weren't languishing in the bottom half :-)
The BBC sports coverage is abysmal these days.
It does look right for Motherwell mind, so I assume another team are benefitting.
Stick Dundee Utd fans high up in the south too. They put us now in the worst away section in the premiership, antiqued shed behind the goals
Yeah, Motherwell fans are the losers - they have only 18 home games and 20 away.
St Mirren get 20 home games.
We have now played 17 home league games https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/matches/
Which probably makes sense in top 6 as they have no advantage to gain, although sure if we lose there it will still feel sore.
I said on Saturday win 2 games or don't lose to either of the other 2 and we are nearly there so probably not the worst order, although slightly miffed as visiting my Aberdeen supporting mate on 03/05 so was hoping for HIbs up there that day.
When do we expect pittodrie tickets to go on sale
Aberdeen will come after us like demons at Pittodrie. They'll want to end our run and they know a win is essential if they're to stand a chance of 3rd.
Bring it on! Our pace filled side will have a field day on the counter attack :greengrin
Will take those fixtures, get 6 points in the first two then 3rd should be, teams will drop points somewhere.
Huns last game should be a cracker and one i hope we have reduced their allocation.
I thought the main objective of the fixtures was to ensure 19 home and away games. I believe us and Aberdeen will only have had 18?
Hopefully big away crowd for us up at Pittodrie. Also get the Utd game sold out as well 👍🥬🇳🇬
I'm confident about all the games with the exception of Celtic obvs 👍💚
Thanks both - hard to keep up! :greengrin
I think we should look at the fixtures as a real positive outcome. We are ahead in points and goal difference, get results from our first two games and the job is done. If we lose these fixtures we still have games left to catch up.
The real gripe I have is SKY showing the Celtic St Mirren game when Celtic will have long won the league and St Mirren will have nothing to play for. It’s crazy and just goes to show how absolutely ridiculous the TV deal is when there could be crucial games going on elsewhere. It’s scandalous.
With a three point and goal difference advantage, I think if we beat Dundee Utd & St Mirren that's enough to see us 3rd.
2 wins for us and they would need 3 wins and a draw from their 5 games to get past us.
I think the sheepies have been given the ideal draw to get level or ahead on points.
1st, their Direct rivals at Home and the Stmirren Away.
Our third game against (presume new champions) 1st home celebration, will be tough.
Gotta do the damage in the first two games Bring it on, :flag:
Last game could be a shootout for the Champions League!
I do think that’s as good a series of fixtures as we could have hoped for. Destiny firmly in our hands - if we beat Aberdeen and Utd first two games up it’s over. St Mirren game a timely chance to snap up any remaining required points between the OF, both of whom we play when their seasons are finished. Feeling confident!
It is and there will be.
Can I ask if any knows the actual prizes for 3rd 4th 5th.
Does third automatically get into the group stage of the Europa League and does 4th automatically get into the group stage of the Conference League? With 5th in the qualifiers?
All assuming Celtc win the SC.
3rd place is Europa League Playoff, (assuming Celtic win SC), with a safety net of Conference League group stages
If Celtic win Scottish cup, 3rd gets play off in the europa league. Win and you're in group stages of europa league. Lose and you're in group stages of the conference hence guaranteed group stage football.
4th and 5th would be different stages of the conference league qualifiers. Think it's 3rd and 2nd qualifying rounds respectively.
4th is Europa League 2nd qualifying stage
Totally wrong that finishing 3rd also depends on the cup winners
3rd place in the league should get the higher reward in Europe rather than the cup winning team
Not just saying it cause we may get it
But over a season rather than 4-6 games the higher team based on league position should be rewarded surely
Absolute nonsense
Sorry if this has been covered but what does 3rd and 4th place get if Celtic don’t win the cup?
I think the way they look at it rightly or wrongly is the top two teams get the premium European spots with them it going to cup winners then 3rd and 4th. Rather than them seeing 3rd place as the premium spot.
it is what it is been like this for years, happened to us when Jack Ross was in charge only think St Johnstone was screwed out the group stage last minute for whatever reason can’t remember.
It is complicated but the league champions from countries such as Ireland and other smaller nations get to the league phase through what is called the 'champions route'.
They enter the Champions league, get through one or two rounds against a couple of minnows and if they get knocked out fall directly into the league phase of the Europa League or Conference League.
This is why we see teams such as Shamrock Rovers and FC Noah appear in the league phase.
I’ll no pretend to know exactly how it works, but I think it’s down to the path they get, the champions path as winners of their domestic league. I think it then means that they avoid any of the real big boys, like us managing to pull out Villa in the Conference League.

First two games are massive
We need to get to that last game against sevco so that it’s done and dusted and completly irrelevant, might be stating the obvious
But getting the job done and not getting beat at Aberdeen is a massive step to getting where we need to be.
GGTTH
I like the idea of playing Aberdeen and Utd early.
We are on a great run of form - it may not last forever but I don’t see it stopping anytime soon.
Worst case scenario we need to beat the Huns final game I reckon Hibs would do it at a sold out Easter Road.
Have full belief and faith in the boys to get this job over the line.
Aberdeen away I would expect to sell out for Hibs fans - it’s like a cup final.
Said it before though we may not even know about Europe till May 25th anyway and AFTER the Scottish cup final.
That’s just Sky being Sky there. I know it’s been done to death on here but BT Sports (as was)gave a much better coverage of Scottish football especially their Friday night games.
Sky’s obsession with covering the Uglies virtually every week to the exclusion of most non Old Firm games is poor and reflects their real interest in our game up here. Some years they can’t even be arsed to show their full complement of Scottish games - can you imagine the outrage if they did that with the EPL?
I believe this is a UEFA rule – the best of the Europa League places has to go to the national cup winner.
That was to do with the reassignment of an extra Europa League place (caused by the Europa League winner getting a Champions League place). Earlier in the season it was assumed that Scotland would benefit, based on our position in the coefficient table and how UEFA had previously handled the reassignment. However, UEFA didn't confirm it until later in the season and in the end it went to another country (Cyprus IIRC).
Subsequently (the following season maybe?) our coefficient increased enough that our standard cup winner/third place entry was the Europa League playoff round, giving the current situation.
