Isner wins the second set tiebreak.
All over now I think.

Isner wins the second set tiebreak.
All over now I think.
A great career but I think this is Murray’s swan song at Wimbledon.
I cannot stress this enough, I absolutely love Andy Murray.
He wins the third set tiebreak.
Come on!
Cmon Andy. What a ****ing inspirational sportsman he is. What commitment and effort
The will to win Andy Murray has is sensational !
The guy refuses to give up without a fight !!
Isner doesn't like when the ball comes back at him!
If, and it's a big if, Murray goes on to win this, there was a point in the 3rd set where he was 0-15 and should have lost the point. He managed to dig out a fantastic site on the run and won the point.
That for me was the turning point. Long way to go yet though!
Murray is a far superior tennis player but with Isner’s strength of serve and Andy’s declining years, his chances of winning are minimal.
Isner breaks in the fourth set.
Have to say tennis would be very dull if all players were like Isner. He is actually a pretty good tennis player but the majority of the game is just one serve and over.
Isner is like the Stoke City of tennis.
Isner wins 6-4 7-6 6-7 6-4
Murray didn't do an awful lot wrong tonight but Isner's serve was just far too good throughout.
Andrew Castle dear oh dear what an absolute clown. Loving it that Murray lost. Barely gave him any credit and absolutely very little context re his injury. Bizarre commentary imo
It’ll take Djokovic or Nadal at their best to beat the robotic serve of Isner. That was his first ever win against Murray and, without the adrenaline, I suppose there’s every chance he could go out and lose to a nondescript player in the next round. However, I think he will reach the semi-finals at least.
I know we have discussed this before but I just can’t see him going on much longer
He is not really competing when John Isner beats him for the first time ever.
He is losing to guys who wouldn’t stand a chance against him a few years ago.
He is a legend and I would like to remember him as one, not an also ran
I didn’t see tonight’s game but my generic view seems to differ with some. My experience of castle in the past would have expected him to be very biased towards murray and definitely not the other way round.
I was also quite surprised to see Isner at 2/1 tonight. Didn’t have a bet but when glancing over I thought he’d be favourite.. albeit relies big time on a serve. He’s something of a force in tennis just now, which Murray just isn’t.
73% first serves in will be a struggle for even the best returners in the game especially when Isner is consistently serving at around 130mph. I actually didn't think Murray did an awful lot wrong tonight, Isner was just too good for him.
I accept Murray's not at the level of Djokovic or Nadal now but if Isner keeps his serving at the level he was at tonight he will be a match for anyone.
Isner was all but unplayable tonight. Andy did extremely well to win that third set. His younger self would have gone on to win, as Isner graciously acknowledged.
Insner has always intrigued me. His face betrays little emotion throughout the match. His gait is one of a giraffe wandering about the sandy wastes. His serve is unplayable. Why he hasn't won more is a puzzle.
If he wins this year it'll be some sight as he clambers into the stand to hug his family and friends.
Murray was, at his peak, the best returner in the game. Whilst he's dropped off, he's still a formidable force on form.
Isner will do well to maintain that percentage but make no mistake, if he does he'll very likely win the whole thing.
Where he could come unstuck is meeting someone who holds serve equally well on the day and it comes down to a single break point a set, or tie breaks.
I wouldn't be betting against him at all.

Isner has the serve to go all the way on grass. If he can maintain the service consistency of last night, he will be tough for anybody.
Alastair Gray's tournament came to an end with a defeat to Taylor Fritz in straight sets.
However Liam Broady had an absolutely outstanding victory in five sets against 12th seed Diego Schwartzman.
Jack Draper on soon v Alex De Minaur.
Rafael Nadal is two sets ahead v Ricardas Berankis but the Lithuanian is a break up in the third set.
There was another brilliant British victory in the women's draw as Katie Boulter beat last year's finalist Karolina Pliskova in three sets.
Heather Watson also won against Qiang Wang but Harriet Dart lost to Jessica Pegula.
Iga Swiatek made it 37 wins in a row.
Nadal loses the third set.
Jack Draper just wins the first set v Alex De Minaur.
Outstanding point to win the set.
Nadal wins in four sets.
Things falling apart a bit for Draper just now.
He lost the second set on a tiebreak and is a break down in the third set.
What’s going on with mens tennis? Just looked up the odds on William Hill and Djokovic is 4/9 to win the tournament, Nadal 4-1 then the nearest is Alcaraz at 10-1. A real dearth of young talent coming through and its been like that for a while.
Draper out in four sets.
Good match though.
Yeah the so called next generation have really not done much at all.
Since Roger Federer won his first Grand Slam in 2003 only Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Federer himself have won more than one Grand Slam title. The youngest player in that list is Djokovic who is 35.
In the top 50 right now we have the following players who are under 25;
5th - Stefanos Tsitsipas - Best Grand Slam performance - Final (age 23)
6th - Casper Ruud - Best Grand Slam performance - Final (age 23)
7th - Carlos Alcaraz - Best Grand Slam performance - Quarter finals (age 19)
8th - Andrey Rublev - Best Grand Slam performance - Quarter finals (age 24)
9th - Felix Auger-Aliassime - Best Grand Slam performance - Semi finals (age 21)
13th - Jannik Sinner - Best Grand Slam performance - Quarter finals (age 20)
14th - Taylor Fritz - Best Grand Slam performance - 4th round (age 24)
16th - Denis Shapovalov - Best Grand Slam performance - Semi finals (age 23)
18th - Reilly Opelka - Best Grand Slam performance - 4th round (age 24)
27th - Alex De Minaur - Best Grand Slam performance - Quarter finals (age 23)
28th - Frances Tiafoe - Best Grand Slam performance - Quarter finals (age 24)
29th - Holger Rune - Best Grand Slam performance - Quarter finals (age 19)
30th - Miomir Kecmanovic - Best Grand Slam performance - 4th round (age 22)
34th - Jenson Brooksby - Best Grand Slam performance - 4th round (age 21)
35th - Sebastian Baez - Best Grand Slam performance - 2nd round (age 21)
37th - Alejandro Davidovich Fokina - Best Grand Slam performance - Quarter finals (age 23)
41st - Francisco Cerundolo - Best Grand Slam performance - 1st round (age 23)
46th - Sebastian Korda - Best Grand Slam performance - 4th round (age 21)
49th - Emil Ruusuvuori - Best Grand Slam performance - 2nd round (age 23)
Only two Grand Slam final appearances amongst this group speaks volumes about how little serious talent there is coming through. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have been very special players and it's highly unlikely that we'll see three players of that standard coming through all at the same time for a very long time.
Alcaraz is the man from that list.
After the sad withdrawal from Berrentini, Novak will be strong favourite to win Wimbledon again but in a year or so I would hope Alcaraz will be top dog in the men’s game.
Surprisingly, he seems pretty comfortable on grass as well, just needs more experience
I’ve hardly seen any matches this week but Alcaraz was the one that impressed me most
Well done Heather Watson, into the last 16 for the first time in her career after many years of trying
Djokovic is so good. Hard to like sometimes but a stick-on for the title, I'd say.
The boy Alcaraz is unreal. Drop shots, lobs, totally outclassing his opponent, a joy to watch
I know Cam Norrie is on the other channel but will stick with Carlos just now. :greengrin
John Isner two sets down to Jannik Sinner.
I can't say I'm overly surprised like I said the other night I thought Sinner would beat him.
First serve percentage for Isner is slightly down compared with his match v Murray but still pretty consistent.
Sinner is a pretty steady player though and Isner looks like he's struggling with an injury.
Alcaraz through to play Sinner, winner of this to play Novak in quarters
Carlos for the title !
Only 8 unforced errors in his match against a guy who reached the last 2 grass court semi finals
Alcaraz and Sinner both through in straight sets.
Going to be an early night for the tennis tonight, Norrie-Johnson is the last singles match still to reach a conclusion and Norrie's just gone two sets ahead.
Norrie through in straight sets.
Tommy Paul up next on Sunday in the last 16.
Top half of the men's last 16 draw;
Novak Djokovic v Tim Van Rijthoven
Jannik Sinner v Carlos Alcaraz
David Goffin v Frances Tiafoe
Cameron Norrie v Tommy Paul
Bottom half of the women's last 16 draw;
Marie Bouzkova v Caroline Garcia
Elise Mertens v Ons Jabeur
Tatjana Maria v Jelena Ostapenko
Heather Watson v Jule Niemeier
Jamie Murray and Venus Williams through to the last 16 of the Mixed Doubles with a win in three sets.
Well Isners gone. He served 50% in the first set and then never really got going. He just looked off, as someone said, perhaps an injury. Really he's one dimensional and when his serve is on he can back it up with decent, if limited volley play etc, he's all about the serve.

Katie Boulter hammered in straight sets by Harmony Tan, 6-1 6-1.
Alex De Minaur wins the opening set v Liam Broady.
2-2 second set.
Cristian Garin wins in 4 sets v Jenson Brooksby.
He'll play the winner of De Minaur-Broady and it's looking like it will be De Minaur as he has just gone two sets up.
Botic Van De Zandschulp wins in 4 sets v Richard Gasquet.
Always enjoyed watching Gasquet at Wimbledon. Good on grass and one of the best backhands in the game.
Brandon Nakashima wins in straight sets v Daniel Elahi Galan Riveros.
Jason Kubler wins in 5 sets v Jack Sock after 4 hours 19 minutes.
Alex De Minaur beats Liam Broady in straight sets.
Taylor Fritz wins in straight sets v Alex Molcan.
Iga Swiatek struggling a bit v grass court specialist Cornet.
Lost first set but can still win this
Go Iga
Swiatek well beaten and the 37 match winning run is over.
Cornet wins in straight sets 6-4 6-2.
Potential match of the tournament on now - Tsitsipas v Kyrgios.
Could be a cracker.
Great serve through the legs by Kyrgios. 🤣🤣
He's certainly unique!
First set to Tsitsipas 7-6.
Kyrgios has been rather vocal to say the least.
Kyrgios is great to watch. Utterly crackers, playing at 1000mph and that service game to 5-4 up was insane 😂
Second set to Kyrgios 6-4.
He's now just being a dick.
Tsitsipas should be defaulted for that.
Very lucky boy.
How did Tsisipas get away with firing the ball into the crowd? I do wish Kyrgios would shut up though, he'll end up getting dq'd.
Kyrgios has taken his comments too far (once again!) but the main point he's making is spot on.
Kyrgios wins the third set 6-3.
This match is brilliant television. Hope it goes to 5 sets. Kyrgios is bonkers
Roof is getting closed.
Can't handle this much drama. 🤣
Kyrgios wins 6-7 6-4 6-3 7-6
What a match, brilliant entertainment.
This post-match interview should be a laugh. :greengrin
What a game. Incredible stuff, that game had everything. Can't wait to hear the fallout from this!
Great entertainment, Kyrgios his usual radge self
The point that Martina, Cash, Lloyd and co are missing is that smashing the ball into the crowd is surely a far worse offence than swearing at an umpire. What difference does it make if someone got hit or not?
Kyrgios' behaviour crossed the line (again) and he probably should have been defaulted, as should Tsitsipas.
Having said that, if Kyrgios had been defaulted then the match would have been over by the time Tsitsipas had his ball incident.
Bottom half of the men's last 16 draw;
Cristian Garin v Alex De Minaur
Brandon Nakashima v Nick Kyrgios
Jason Kubler v Taylor Fritz
Botic Van De Zandschulp v Rafael Nadal
I think the Quarter finals will be;
Djokovic v Alcaraz
Goffin v Norrie
De Minaur v Kyrgios
Fritz v Nadal
Tsitsipas is right IMHO, Kyrgios is a bully and I think it is a deliberate effort in a lot of his matches to try to intimidate the umpire and line judges to the point where they'll see a marginal call and be afraid to call against him.
I don't know how he gets away with the things he says towards them to be honest.
Having said that, Tsitsipas should have been defaulted IMHO, hitting a ball into the crowd like that isn't on.
I'd agree with all that. The umpire wss too soft.
Djokovic was (correctly) disqualified from the US Open for hitting the ball away in frustration and striking a line judge in the neck. He also threw his racket into the stands at the Olympics but as there were no crowds allowed I think he only got docked a point.
I see the supervisor was busy last night as he was also called onto Centre Court to deal with issues between Rafael Nadal and Lorenzo Sonego.
Nadal has apologised for continuing to speak with Sonego at the net, at the end of the match. They had heated words earlier on when Nadal was unhappy with the match being stopped when he was 4-2 up in the third set so the roof could be closed, a decision Sonego had asked for earlier in that set.
Then once play resumed Nadal was unhappy with a noise Sonego had made as he set up break point.
Nadal said he was in the wrong for continuing discussions at the net after they had shaken hands though.
"I should not call him [to] the net," Nadal, 36, told a news conference.
"I have to say that I was wrong. So apologise for that. My mistake in that. No problem. I recognise that."
So much drama for a Saturday night! :greengrin
Kyrgios is box office. Behaving like a petulant child and abusing hapless court officials is always a winner at Wimbledon. Just ask John McEnroe.
Kyrgios is particularly unpleasant though. I yearn to see him get his erse tanned by Djokovic but I fear he'll be gone by then.
